Foundation: The Emperor's Peace (2021)
high quality Sci-Fi pilot
I haven't read the books, but as a Sci-Fi fan very good acting, world building and writing sucks you in to seek for more. The high quality cinematography is the tip of the cake. This is how a pilot of a complex Sci-Fi-show should be done.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #4.5 (2020)
First half of Season 4 fires on all cylinders
For me this is the best episode of this season so far, as it shows how actions have huge impact on every aspect of this well crafted world and the characters. This episode is a showcase of how complex this show got through three and a half seasons. It was mind blowing and helps to make the story more unpredictable.
The Expanse: Displacement (2019)
Second half of the season begins
The first five episodes are good, but a bit slow. This episode is where the tension really starts to rise.
The Witcher (2019)
Solid TV show
As someone, who only played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (loved it) and has not read the books, I was sceptical how a TV adaption of the books will impact the experience for me. Besides some strange choices of actors to provide a proper diversity, some really confusing time jumping and some over the top B-movie moments, it was a great experience overall. Especially the origins of the main characters of the wild hunt (gerald, cirael and yennifer) were very interesting.
The Expanse: Cibola Burn (2019)
Season 4
Overall a very good season. A lot of things were set up for the next season. I like that the side stories were connected to this setup. So when season 5 airs, season 4 will be even better. For the side story arcs I will give a 10/10. That was fantastic.
The main story arc (illus) was a bit over the top. I mean you are stuck in an alien building, over you is the ocean, you have only drinkable water for the next few days, you just learned that bacteria will eat your eyes. Snakes with nerve poison everywhere.
What will come in your mind, if you will be at such circumstances? Would you think about a plan to kill your only hope "James Holden" just for money? Defenately not. 7/10 for the main plot.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Drogon the star of the final
Drogon melting the iron thrown instead of trying to kill jon and then taking dany to fly east had so much symbolism on various levels.
Overall this episode offert satisfying endings for lots of character arcs.
And to all the 1 star voters. Well, you are spitting on all the hard work and passion the actors and the whole production crew delivered. One serious advice to you: try to reflect episodes first and consider things that are at very high standards (which you objectivly cant deny towards cinematography, music, acting, unpredictability) before going for rage voting. And if your little imagined story didnt come up, dont be mad. There were million possibilites to end this series of such complexity and imo they have chosen a mix of dramatic and satisfying ways.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
great episode.
After watching this great episode, it becomes obvious that Game of Thrones got infested by the internet troll desease after the previous episode wasnt that good (but still solid). Dont listen to these 1-5 star votes and enjoy a new chapter heading for the end battle.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Game of !THRONES!
After having a quick look on the comments and saw all these bad reviews having lots of upvotes, while this episode holds a proper 9,4 overall rating, my first thought was: post season 6 butthurt wannabe fans want to be special snowflakes in the comment section. So Ive looked the episode with these bad comments in mind. Just waiting the episode to giving me a let down.
First 30 min over. I was hyped. The tenson was magnificant. After the first half. Heart still pumping. Ok maybe the next half will finally destroy it now to justify all these 1-5 star ratings. No, it was still top notch. And then this surprising ending! Overall a very good ride, with some minor flaws (too dark at some scenes, some wired tactics just to bring more tension for the viewer) but Im happy how it turned out, since this series is about the iron throne. And THIS will be the final worth this epic series.
So my conclusion: The people criticizing are just louder, than the people who enjoyed this episode. definitely in the top 10 of best GoT episodes.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #3.6 (2018)
Utred and Brida
The scenes of these two characters together in the wilderness were superb!
Knightfall (2017)
Historical incorrect but very good second half
I heared of this series from an article about mark hamill (actor of luke skywalker) will have a role in the second season of knightfall. Ive watched the trailer which looked promising. So Ive looked it up on imdb, saw its low votings for the series itself. As this series was released on the history channel, it was no surprise that 90% of the bad reviews were about the historical incorrectness.
If you are able to imagine this series as alternative history fiction, than you wont regret it to give it a shot. Especially after episode 5 the pace gets incredibly fast and the tension very high!
So my rating first half: 7, second half: 9, overall: 8.
The Expanse (2015)
Highly immersive and unpredictable
Awesome visual effects, good acting and pacing. But what makes this show special?
Completely unpredictable world:
This show is highly story driven. But hell... it even swaps genres to tell its complex, ruthless and epic metastory. All characters in this sandbox full of histories, intrigues, murder, emotions, relationships, discoveries, different societies have to face and react to the consequences of it.
Highest possible Immersion:
I've never seen a so damn highly consistent and believable sci-fi worldbuilding. This let you care about characters, as you can imagine to be in their situations.
If you keep in mind, that the first three seasons are only the prolog of the expanse, a new Game of Thrones is ahead of us.
The Expanse: Immolation (2018)
Caliban's War endet with a blast
The final two episodes of the Calibin War were a showcase of how to get the best of the best out of this living, consistent and complex world build up wthin two and a half seasons. All the story strings come together for a climax which reminds me of some of the most epic moments of game of thrones, were the tension is so high that you sit on the edge of your chair! So it is no surprise that even George R. R. Martin likes The Expanse. Thank you to all who worked on this show for this great experience!
