Protagonist is a positive person, which is an under-heel-guy, doing everything to please his wife and her parents. Very common situation.

In some moment another woman pushes him in right direction to change: to become a free-spirit person and start taking care about himself. Of course, it was not a very healthy way - meaning there were some drugs involved. But again, the situation shown is quite truthful: if we want good changes - sometimes it's not possible to do EVERYTHING right all the way, agree? Of course, there are some lucky coincidences which help our main character to come out clean from all the problems finally. But once more: haven't you ever had situations in your life, when you are very close to get into troubles when trying to make things better and finally as a reward for all your trials you are saved in some magic way? :) All in all, this movie is very positive. It let you dream when watching it, but easily gets you back to reality when it ends. With pleasant thoughts.

Disappointed. Started very intriguing, finished a way too fast! I wonder how they could stretch it to more than 1 hour, if there are almost no events and the plot could be told in a couple of words. Some characters... what is the reason they are here? No one has the idea. If you like Rebecca Hall - OK, please, watch this movie. Just to enjoy her look. Otherwise there's nothing especial here. Natural fear of something sudden. Shrilly sounds. A ghost with funny twisted mouth. Sympathy between two. A little mix of sensible and ether. Tried to figure out, what is the audience of this movie... Too shallow for adults, too boring and unintelligible for children.

This is quite a long story. Usually very long stories are boring. This > 2hours drama has been watched at one breath. When I was watching it - i found a lot of echos about my broken marriage. Amazing, but every phrase, said by main characters, is not just a phrase. It's a thought and it's ALIVE. It makes one to think, analyze, empathize, hate and despise. It ignites deep emotions inside.

I'd recommend to watch this movie, out of doubt. Especially to people that just start to look for relationship.

About actor play... Every actor is at proper place. Maybe Fiona is not convincing enough, but it was not hampering to enjoy this... thorough, well thought-out movie!

This film looks very realistic. This is maybe what I like most of all in it. I am 20 years younger than Lester, but watching this movie I thought: yes, it COULD be a next-door drama of a middle-aged neighbor... and it could happen to me, too. Later. So - dialogs are good, actors' play is good. All characters are shown convincing and displayed in quite enough details.

I'd strongly advice to watch this film - you will have a lot of things to discuss after, with your friends or relatives. And I am sure you will get pleasure of this discussion, too, as wheel as of watching "American beauty".

Movie itself it quite catchy - the fight of Jack with Asian man in the hotel room was the best, imho...

But some things are under critics. Like exploding on the arena - when eventually whole the building is got blown away - what 'bad guy' of Mickey Rourke was thinking about when placing mines of such explosive power there? :) Or what was on 'good guy' of Dennis Rodman's mind when swapping some mine marks? To play the game 'who dies first - good Jack or bad Stavros? A big number of gotchas that may be forgiven only because it's just an action. Plain action with good fights and explosions...
