Onward (2020)
A decent and enjoyable watch...
Much better than what the trailers make you think. Its great to see Pixar starting the decade with some original stuff for a change, and despite that and releasing during the coronavirus, it's box office results weren't the worst, all things considered. The voice acting is great, animation is awesome and every plot point is used effectively and everything in the film has a purpose for being there. It's always entertaining and never boring, and the stakes are always high enough to care about what's going on. Our leads have great charisma and contrast each other very effectively, and actually grow as characters as the film goes on. While I'm not the biggest fan of Dan Scanlon's previous work on Monsters University, this is definitely a stepup. Kudos to everyone involved in this film.
Not the best compared to other original Pixar stuff, but then again, what is?
Whiplash (2014)
LOVE THIS MOVIE!
As an avid Chazelle fan, I absolutely adore this movie! I think musicians like myself will appreciate the little things in this film, but there's something here for everyone to love. The color palette of the film gives you a mood to look forward to, with great editing, awesome music by Justin Horowitz, and amazing acting by our leads! Overall, very enjoyable film and would totally recommend to literally ANYONE!
Murdoch Mysteries (2008)
Review of Murdoch Mysteries
Very nice show that's always interesting, with hilarious comedy, nice writing, suspenseful plots, great acting and a great family show in general. Wish we got more of it every year! Jonny Harris and Yannick Bisson have great chemistry and it manages to balance a funny and well written show with a mysterious eerie 1900s vibe. 9/10.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018)
Not Bad
This show is fine. The new animation style is subjective, I personally don't mind the jumpy 90's esk art style and animation, and the comedy is pretty mediocre too, but time will tell for that. The voice acting is also fine, Ben Schwartz is great as Leo and Raph's voice is good too, but Greg Cipes as Mikey and Rob Paulsen as Donnie might've been better for these roles. Also, John Cena, REALLY? The new slobby Master Splinter is not my cup of tea (he kinda reminds me of The Ancient One from the 2003 series) and Raph being leader is cool as he is my favorite turtle, but his character is a little less likable this time around. The plots and villains are good too. Overall a pass but better than the other stuff on Nick nowadays.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Abrasive Side/Earworm (2010)
Amazing!
This episode is brilliant! The plot is very clever and reminds me of Suds, another episode that used SpongeBob's spongy nature effectively. The idea to give SpongeBob an abrasive green side is very funny and you wonder why they haven't incorporated it in another episode! The characters are all themselves and feel right, and the comedy is down-right amazing! The overtime joke with Mr. Krabs especially had me laughing out loud! And the animation is also very nice and the design of the abrasive side is pretty good too. A funny and clever episode that incorporates all of the cast in an 11 minute run-time deserves a grand applause!
SpongeBob SquarePants: No Hat for Pat/Toy Store of Doom (2009)
Great!
Wow, I love this episode! Now, this episode is extremely underrated for its own good. The plot is about Patrick wanting to have a work hat like SpongeBob and actually being determined to get it, by asking Mr. Krabs and gradually going from being the guy outside who holds a sign, to being the Krusty Krab's main attraction by him falling on his head. And Patrick's determination and cool nature makes it all the more enjoyable as you know Patrick is not being hurt mentally. And Mr Krabs getting money from Patrick's pain is fine as he gets his karma at the end. And it doesn't tick you off my having him still win in the end like Krabby Kronicle. And the Squid torture at the end is completely justified, as it doesn't go on too long, and Squidward actually deserved it. And this is actually funny. This is definitely season 6's best and one of my all-time favorite episodes of SpongeBob.
