Twins (1988)
10/10
A fantastic film that you can watch over and over
6 January 2007
"Twins" is a cinematic treat with a universal, classic, and timeless appeal. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are at their best here. In fact, all parties concerned pull together for a harmonious production that is very entertaining and holds up to repeated viewings. Among the supporting cast you will see some familiar faces, including the legendary Nehemiah Persoff, in a very relaxed role.

This fun film has a great story, lots of plot mechanisms to keep you interested, a wonderful mix of characters, a good soundtrack, plenty of laughs, and even some very touching moments. I guarantee it will put a smile on your face and put you in a good mood.

Dorian Gray (1970)

Great version of a familiar tale

I enjoyed seeing this on TV over the years. It is typical of pictures that came out during that time period. No not all were perfect with exquisite editing or immaculate soundtrack and how all the modern critics insist a picture must be perfect or you may not like it. Wrong. It is art and a story is told and some B-grade films enjoy tremendous adoration. I like how this showed the guy as basically decadent and wanting to have his fun and all the props are contemporary so the film is a wonderful time capsule. The target audience would seem to be men IMHO. I recommend you watch it, should it ever come on TV where you live, but I doubt it will ever be released to DVD.

The film is an easy, relaxed film, enjoyable to watch, and captures the essence of the idea well -- the question is whether you will ever be able to see it. These old gems are hard to find.

Chino (1973)
7/10
Good, enjoyable, and entertaining film

...with some touching moments. From the title you wouldn't expect much, but I liked this film a lot and wonder why it is almost never aired on TV. Bronson and Van Patten have a great chemistry and their on-screen relationship is very believable. The story is simple, with an interesting beginning and a good, plausible ending. The soundtrack is nice, too.

The only thing I would change in this film is to make it longer, add more scenes so we can get to know the characters in various settings, and delve into the background to the conflict between Chino and his neighbors.

I recommend this film, especially to fans of Charles Bronson. I will definitely watch this film again (finally saw it for the first time, after all these years!).
