O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Funny n' Heart Ticklin'!
This is a fun, funny movie that has some heart in it too. It's not the Coen Brothers' best film, or even their funniest film, but it's a great combination of both their off-beat story-telling, visuals and characters, as well as their signature senses of humour.
It also features some great locations and costumes.
The casting is also great, and features another Coen Brohers usual - fantastic supporting characters. Look for Stephen Root as the blind owner of a radio station who first discovers' the musical talent of our hero prison escapees, whose numbers seem to multiply when it comes time to negotiate payment. Also look for John Goodman as a menacing giant.
Highly recommended.
Con (2005)
Not Much To See Here
I don't hate it as much as most of the reviewers here seem to but this was not a very good show. It was just a host who pretends to con people out of stuff, and most of his cons aren't even that clever. Carrying around your old fast food restaurant cups in a bag in your trunk just to get free drink refills? That's a pretty pathetic con and super gross to think about actually doing with a gross old garbage cup. Taking receipts out of garbage bins and using them to complain you didn't get your food is just sad too, maybe that's a good con for a homeless person who is starving though. Holding tree branches in front of no parking signs and taking a picture of it to get out of a $20 parking ticket is just sad too and also again not a clever con it's just lying, plus you'd have to spend half a day in court and perjure yourself how is that worth it? The host was not likable or funny. I give it a 4 because it wasn't a total train wreck and I think it deserves a higher rating than it has now. Why does everyone always seem to vote 1 or 10?
Nine to Five (1980)
Super Fun!
This was a super fun movie. The music is great and the story, about female secretaries standing up to a male chauvenist pig of a boss who sees them as sex objects and takes credit for their work, is awesome. The women are incredibly funny and so is Dabney Coleman as their jerk of a boss. There's even a super fun Snow White song spoof where cartoon birds chirp and fly around as Lily Tomlin sings.
Sister Act (1992)
Surprisingly Good
I've never been a huge fan of Whoopi Goldberg but I really loved this movie! It's family friendly and a decent story about a woman (Whoopi) on the run from the mob with some of their stolen money or something. Anyway she hides out in a nunnery and poses as a nun even though she's a night club singer. She's a real fish out of water but ends up learning a lot from the real nuns, helps them change for the better as well with her fun singing and dancing (which ends up so beloved by the community the Pope comes to see their choir perform), and helps the community get safer and cleaner. Just an all around feel good movie with some really funny moments, a lot of heart, and even some great musical numbers!
Under One Roof (2008)
Wow this is Awful!
This show just makes me smh it is so bad.... can just anybody have a TV show? That must be true since this garbage is on the TV. Flavor Flaaaaaaav!
Stars Gone Wild (2007)
Below Average
This show was below average. For Much Music it wasn't that bad-- I mean compare it to Pants Off Dance Off or Love Court. It was not as good as Videos on Trial.
Majority Rules! (2009)
Really Bad Kids Show
This kids show is bad. Just really bad. From the bad concept to the awful acting and writing nothing in this show works at all, it's just stupid and the jokes were all just awful. Canadian kids TV shows are usually bad and this is one of the standouts for how awful they can be.
Meet the Family (2013)
Great Hidden Camera Comedy
This is a really funny show I wish I knew where I could find season two.
Harry and the Hendersons (1987)
Great Family Fun!
John Lithgow is very good in this, and it's not very often you see him in a family comedy-adventure film. But this movie is a great family gem. Then accidentally hit a Bigfoot with their car while camping then, thinking he's dead, tie him to the roof of their station wagon and take him home, but he wakes up. The family decides to keep him to protect him because he is a gentle creature, but he causes obvious problems for them when others come looking for the creature, and obviously also creates chaos and a lot of damage to the house. Kids and parents will all like this one.
Cock'd Gunns (2007)
Good Effort, So-So Results
This show was a good idea and I don't mind the actors in it but the writing just is not there and some of the jokes were just really painfully unfunny. Shame cuz the idea was good.
Be Real (2006)
Nice Idea But Amateurish
I like the basic idea of the show of turning regular people into a reality TV show but they just don't pull it off, the show is very cheap, the host was not particularly good, and they clearly don't have enough money to produce it well.
'Da Kink in My Hair (2007)
Average at Best
I remember this show. It wasn't awful but the writing was very predictable with bad jokes and the acting was not very good at all either. Too bad it wasn't better, I liked the idea of the show.
24 Hour Rental (2014)
Not Very Good
I give this a five out of ten mostly because I think the two out of ten rating here is too low. I think four is about right. It is far from being the worst show ever but it is honestly not very good. I get what they were trying to do and it is a good idea but the show just comes off so cheap and the writing and acting leave a lot to be desired.
The Magnificent Ambersons (1942)
Brilliant Drama
This was a brilliant movie! Orson Welles at his very best as a film maker. It is such a tragic shame that his director's cut (much longer) was lost and may never be found.
