Eli (2019)
Not what I expected
"I watched this not knowing anything about it beforehand. It started a little slow, but got creepier as it progressed. It was becoming a decent supernatural/haunting film when it changed abruptly.
Actually, abruptly is an understatement. The twist completely changed the tone of the entire movie, even the genre.
At first I wasn't sure I liked the twist but by the end of the movie I was digging it.
Overall, there the film doesn't break much new ground, but it is a solid horror film with decent acting and nice cinematography."

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
I guess I am the minority
Or my expectation we SO LOW that this movie was good. There was a lot about it, that was over the top silly, and some parts just didn't make sense, but still, I enjoyed it, and think it might be one of the best xmen. It wasn't Sophie, let me tell ya, I am NOT a fan of hers, but even She, I thought did well. So ya, good movie :)
Men in Black: International (2019)
Not as good as original, but totally worth it
I mean, the surprise ending was no surprise. Seriously?
I watched this for Chris, he is awesome, but the surprise was Tessa. I thought she was going to be a throw-away, but she stole the show. She was awesome, and pleasure to watch! Good, chill'n movie, fun movie.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Pleasantly surprised
DC should hire some of these writers. I didn't think they had anything to work with, and yet, found it enjoyable, full of action, humorous, and heart-felt. I look forward to more. Tom Holland is nailing this spidey :)
The Crucifixion (2017)
Didn't feel like tone to watch
I love to watch horror movies in OCT, and this made the list. I thought the acting was meh, and the story was a little different than cookie cutter, and it was a Exorcism copy. So all put together I thought it was fun, and entertaining.
Suspiria (2018)
Weird as...
WTF just happened?? I still can't figure out if I hated this movie or loved it. It is strange as hell. I guess it is a remake, never saw the original, so I don't have any incite there. I liked the premise, but hated a lot about it, but freaking loved the ending... but it took 2.5 hours to get there! Way to freaking long, I can say that for sure. Also, NOT a fan of contemporary dance.
Booksmart (2019)
Formulaic with a twist
Had some fun moments, and some light emotional scenes, but it was pretty "typical" but the fact they had to put the gay twist to it. Make her strait, and it was the definition of cookie cutter teen high school story. One thing, Kaitlyn Dever is a rising star.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
A diamond in the rough
And I mean rough. It is not a typical zombie movie. A LOT of people hated it, but I loved it, it had that slow, undertow of humor and serious commentary of life. Maybe I read more into it, but with an all star cast, and great writing it was awesome. If you are curious, watch 15 min of it, if you hate it at that point stop watching it, its not going to get better lol
Shaft (2019)
Needed a paycheck
Bad acting, bad script, and not my type of humor. Hard pass
Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)
Bizarre and Awesome
This move was a surprising mix of horror and musical with a sprinkling ofhumor, and heart-felt drama. I loved this move. The singing and dancing was delightful to watch, and the zombies, were... zombies lol. A new term coined: Zombicle.
Action Point (2018)
Silly and crude
Once again, they have to be so freaking crude, and that is supposed to be funny. I guess it is for some, but not me. Which is too bad, cause besides that, this was really a pretty funny and silly movie.
Time Freak (2018)
Good move, bad casting
I have no issue with these actors, but they just didn't mesh. It felt odd to me the entire move. Which is too bad, cause I loved the story, and the premise.
My Man Godfrey (1936)
Classic and awesome
Once again the classic movie just floors me. The sarcasm and the writing in this movie is unbelievable. I realize that writing and acting was all you need, without the crutch of special effects. This movie was hysterical heartwarming and just fun to watch. If you like black and whites like we do, this is a must see.
Us (2019)
Pure garbage
After watching twilight zone, I should have given this a hard pass. But nope, wanted to give it a shot. The acting was meh, the scary voices were so bad, I cringed, and the whole point is confusing and nauseating. WTH? Trying to make a point on society, or just came up with a garbage idea and turned it into a movie.
Tolkien (2019)
Not a fan of him, but the movie...
I was never a fan of Tolkein, too Faulkner for my fantasy choice. But now I see why! This movie was great! I loved it more than any of his books or movies :) I went into it, with only a partial interest in his life, so if you have more, watch it!
Red Joan (2018)
Treason is treason
I had a hard time with this because it tried to justify treason. Judi Dench, who I normally love just showed up for a paycheck. Sophie Cookson I thought did above average, but I personally could not get through the main point, and that is, sometime treason is ok, if you heart is in the right place.
Stockholm (2018)
Ah. that is where it comes from!
The movie was ok, the reason I made it through the whole thing, was because I was curious on how the "syndrome" cam about. For that reason a lone it did not fail. For the rest, it was only meh
Steel Country (2018)
Andrew Scott nails it
Andrew Scott is one of my favorites, and he did not drop the ball on this one! In fact he carried the whole team! This was a great movie about a man with (Aspergers?) and pure determination tries to solve a crime, when everyone seems to be against him
The Curse of La Llorona (2019)
enjoyable horror
I liked this one. I became a fan of Linda Cardellini in the new Netflix series Dead to me, and she didn't fail here. They story was only meh, but I thought special effects and the overall presentation was pretty good. Either way, I was entertained.
Pet Sematary (2019)
Why remake?
This didn't add anything to the original. I was just as good, a freaky idea that was just meh to watch. I have to say the little girl was really good, freaked me out.
Killer Under the Bed (2018)
Chucky with magic
The movie was ok for a super cheese, and if you like chucky, you might like this. It is very similar, just he has magic this time around :)
The Kid Who Would Be King (2019)
Great kid movie...
I thought this movie was great for the kiddos, and was entertaining enough to watch with them. Probably a pass for the theater, but a fun movie night at home, this is perfect.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Better than I thought
I don't care for the Avatar graphics, and as tired as this freaking plot is, I thought it was entertaining. I mean, I had zero, zilch emotional attachment to her boy friend, and the anime- style cgi face graphics were annoying, but overall it was fun. I thought it could have been better if they just had her act those scenes :)
2012 (2009)
as catastrophes go...
It always drives me crazy how lucky the main person has to be, but as my son says, why write about anyone else? lol I liked the movie, as over the top as it was it was fun to watch. I might have skipped through the emotional crap that they couldn't pull off and went right to the action, but hey, that's what remotes are for :) Also, one passing thought, if that would happen... we'd be dead.
Hellboy (2019)
Bad everything, but...
This movie was long, tedious, and obnoxious. Over the top blood which I felt was supposed to be comedic, but was not. One liners, which only a few were funny, and the cgi from a couple of macs. The only thing I can say about the acting, it was not David Harbour's fault. I actually thought he did fine with what he had to work with.
