Not the ending I wanted but...
23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really expected Joe to get it all sorted, join the family and take the roles of Cid's father. It's really the ending I wanted too. I was annoyed it didn't happen. But, after thinking about it, it can be seen as refreshing that a film completely went with the opposite of the expected or even favourable ending. He could have easily just shot off a finger or hand and possibly had a positive outcome. Instead he took the 100% success option. Overall, good film, if not slightly above average. I don't know that it is worth a second viewing but it still was a unique and enjoyable film. 6.5 more so than 7.

1000-lb Sisters (2020– )

It's trash, but I enjoy it
28 March 2023
Sometimes I want mindless entertainment. And this does it for me. I have some silly investment in seeing the sisters succeed, better themselves, and some wacky stuff along the way. I like Chris a lot as he seems like a good honest man. The family I think is a product of their environment and it is so different from man that I enjoy it every week. It's not everyone's cup of tea and I can't say whether it is a negative reality to show on television but it is popular enough that I can't see it going anywhere any time soon unless Michael and Amy's divorce puts a huge handcuff of the filming. Cheers.

It surprised me
4 March 2023
I didn't think I'd enjoy this after watching the first episode, but I find myself eagerly anticipating it each week. I have been drawn into the relationships of the characters and an intrigued to see how the story plays out. It is building nicely towards some dynamic situations that I'm interested to see how the writers resolve. Overall, the show for me is much better than the current rating and I'm fully invested the building tension. I hope that Apple continues to be inventive in their show creation although not all will hit. This one does in my opinion. Haneefah Wood And Billy Crudup are a joy to watch.

Always perks me up
16 July 2022
There are few shows that have been able to always heighten my mood like Parks and Recreation. It's a feel good show that has well created characters that all have unique personalities. I live this show and I wish there were more seasons to enjoy.

I was entertained
17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I had no idea of the theme if this film as I began to watch it. I chose it based on its cast and having a lack of other interesting films to watch. I enjoyed the performances and the story, mostly due to it being easy to find parallels in our society. The ending, when everyone is sitting around a table for a meal as the world is ending was amazingly done. The film managed to find peace in chaos in that scene and I felt it to be one of the more powerful recent cinematic moments I have experienced.

Does what it sets out to do
8 June 2022
Sometimes you just want a movie where you can turn off the mind, set aside logic, and enjoy the action. And for that, this film is great for when you want to relax and have a few mild thrills. Overall, a decent disaster film that pokes at some phobias like claustrophobia, fear of water, etc. I feel like some films just don't require a lot of in depth analysis and should be enjoyed for what they are. This is definitely along those lines.

Pulls you in
14 March 2021
I'm not interested in basketball whatsoever. It just has never been a sport I've enjoyed watching. So I expected that this version wouldn't grab me the same as the football series previous. But the storylines and personal stories grabbed me all the same. I enjoyed the differences in the personalities of the coaching staff. Coach John Mosley is interesting. He has the intensity of some of the notorious coaches of the football series, but has his unique ways of expressing himself. As with Cheer and previous Last Chance U seasons, Greg Whiteley does a good job of showing the struggles of youth in transition.

Just not enjoyable
22 October 2020
This show turned me off quickly, though still gave it 3 episodes before pulling the plug. I found the characters annoying, the acting subpar, and I am almost willing to label it as cringe. Victoria Pedretti's character is so childish in how she reacts to situations, you'd expect her to be in an asylum with her lack of coping skills.

So much going on
29 July 2020
I enjoyed this show right from episode one. I enjoyed Scooba the most of the three programs that were highlighted. Coach Brown was a roller coaster at Independent, and you really jump from being on board with him, to hoping he gets sent on his way. I believe he most likely let the excitement of the cameras dictate his actions and do things that maybe would have been too far prior. Season 5 overall didn't live up to the others for me, although there were some really good stories and characters to cheer for. And so happy that the coaches wife was able to get out of San Diego cos there "were too many white people and people of privilege". I'm sure they were happy to get rid of that attitude to be honest.

Entertaining
29 July 2020
I have no interest in cheer, and for the most part I still don't following the first series. That didn't matter, as this series managed to capture a wide variety of personalities that all had differing backgrounds and motivations. I have a new appreciation for these competitors as true athletes. It's worth a watch in my opinion. Expect characters you don't like, and ones that you want to reach out and wrap your arms around.
