Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007 Video)
8/10
Much better then I thought it would be!
8 October 2007
Most 'direct to video' films are hardly worth watching, let alone sequels that are direct to video. However this film did something few films do for me anymore, and that's make me jump. The opening scene is fantastic and includes a kill which is both unexpected and unlike many other, unoriginal death scenes. The movie does drag abit, but is almost nonstop action. Wrong Turn 1,and 2 are both worth watching, and a third should be out within a year or so (at least I hope it is)This franchise deserves a trilogy ending, and I will look forward to it, as much if not more then I looked forward to this one!

If Saw can still be going strong after 4,5, or even 6 films. Wrong end can keep us interested for at least a third!

Halloween (2007)

Stands apart from the others, and could restart franchise.
30 August 2007
I was very excited about seeing this film, and nervous at the same time. If your going to see this film, it's best to expect a different type of Michael Myers, and also a very different impression of the eyes behind the mask. I found it hard to take it in, as it was happening. For me Michael Myers was a body of evil, without reason, or soul, and if that's what you want in this Michael, then don't see this movie. This Michael doesn't hide, and wait. This Michael is angry, and could care less what time it is, or who you are. His kills are understandable, and all the victims have a great deal in common with people from his childhood. Rob Zombie delivered a fantastic movie, and managed to explain many of the little questions many may have been left with in the original. I was very glad that the whole explaining the childhood, and seeing post Judith's death didn't hurt the character of Michael. He is very different then 1978 Michael, but Zombie has found a new way of keeping Michael mysterious. Instead of why is he killing, I was left with the question why isn't he killing. That question is almost as scary as a masked man killing without rhyme or reason. Daeg was a great choice, as was Malcolm McDowell, but the only character that was over the top, in my opinion was William Forsythe's Ronnie. They could have toned him down a few levels. This is a great movie for younger horror fans, but we all know that those that feel they "know' Michael, may hate it (many haters are on this board already) If your open minded to a reinvention, then you'll enjoy this. If you want old Michael Myers, then stay home. This one is equally scary, but this one is a sort of victim himself.

Much better then I thought it would be!
11 August 2007
I started watching this film out of pure boredom, and got what I expected in the first 30 minutes or so. (a typical high school flick) However it turned into a real funny, and moving film after that. I liked the political message, and the way they brought up the fact that the Untied States have given up many civil liberty's due to the Patriot Act signed into law after 9/11. The film also had some really funny parts to it as well. Nicole Ritchie wasn't really in the film, so her acting abilities are still unknown, but she managed to play her part well. The only real complaint I have was the acting of the films villain, the principal. In any good student vs school movie, the principal is played by a memorable person. (Ferris Bullers day off etc) This womens parts were very annoying, and her angry bitchy behavior was just plain annoying, and should have been done much better. Although a good film, the principal part made this a one alittle less then it could have been. Still worth having a look!

I don't know what to say?
1 August 2007
I don't know if I should have added a warning about spoilers, but that's because I couldn't find a point to this movie at all! Seriously,I don't know what I'd be spoiling? The characters must have had some point, but I couldn't find it, and I will not subject myself to watching this train wreck ever again! Maybe you need to be part of a satanic order of sorts? The most shocking thing is this movie found distribution! If 0 was a score, I would have given this pearl a minus 10! Im sure anyone not associated with the film, that have seen it will agree! But if you don't please let me know what the hell this film was about! This film is one for the Twilight Zone!

Scarred (2005 Video)
5/10
Not a bad movie, a better low budget then some studios pearls
28 July 2007
Over the past couple months I have been a real horror junkie, and have watched 30 to 40 films. You quickly run out of studio productions in this genre, and get into those films with a small budget, and those with a hand held 1980's camera, that just sound and look like bad highschool productions. Scarred however is a very low budget movie, but was done much much better then some. The guys in the movie all played there parts well, and except for alittle over dramatic whining, the lead character played by Jonny Mack, far out did the rest of the cast! The women in the movie seemed like they'd be better suited to a psychic alliance phone line then to a Hollywood stage. The movie did right by the lead, and as I said he did a great job, but the 'hook up' with the friend, didn't suit him (if you catch my drift) Most of the time, with low budget films the cover art on the DVD is the best part, and has nothing to do with the actual movie, but this film did the cover justice, and was a real gem compared to most other films I've sat thru in the last 10 or 15 horrors I've seen. I guess the best test for a movie is if the viewer would see it again for a second time, and with this film I would!

Had a movie, but lost it!
26 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this film, and did what I was suppose to, develop a like or dislike for characters. The story appeared to begin with the bully's, and the bullied. The final twist was predictable, but the characters didn't develop the way they were suppose to. In the end there was one character I wanted to root for, but then they killed him. The line between good and evil was no existent, and the film didn't have the 'all is well in the end' ending. The movie was about justice, but the film served none! It had a lot of potential, and usually, when I watch a movie from the UK Im not disappointed, but this movie left me wanting to re shoot the film myself. Which says, that it was interesting enough to spend time on, but wasn't shot properly, and without that bond that exists between the goer, and a character. To bad it was released in this state! Could have been fantastic!

Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians (2007)
Season 2, Episode 12
8/10
The Washingtonians .
23 July 2007
If there is one thing that freaks me out, even at the age of 28, it's southern old people! I felt shot back to being a small child, watching Poltergeist 2 with Jullian Beck and Zelda Rubeinstien. The lawyer is as close as I have come to feeling that creeped out, since the 80's. I got over Freddy, and Jason, still alittle fear when a Halloween sequel pops up, but to this day, the vision of Jullian Beck playing Kane still spooks me out, and I must do a scan of the room I am in! The Washingtonians seems to have that effect on me, and it really took me back to that time. The Masters of Horror series has some real gems, and this episode has left that impression on me.

I think this is one of the best I've seen in awhile!
11 July 2007
Although Elijah Woods is as likely a hooligan as Mother Teresa, it did manage to be a really great film! I had seen a few pathetic reviews, and would have most likely stayed away from this one, had I not been bored. I did find it kept my attention till the very end. It is more then worth a trip to the video store, and would have even been worth seeing in the theater. The 'buddy' films in the past were full of cheesy plots, but this is one that will offer a North American viewer, a good look at the English version of a tailgate party is done. I am not one to rewatch many movies, but I would sit and watch this again in a heart beat. A lot of great movies, and comedy come out of the UK, and I would say without hesitation, that this film is one of those great things! Well worth $5 to rent, or $20 to buy.

Why create a story when the real thing is much more gruesome?
10 July 2007
I was interested in seeing this film, because I was hoping to see a reenactment of the actual story that inspired so many of the all time classic horror movies, but what we got was a low budget spin on the acts of Ed Gein, not the story of Ed Gein. Kane is a large presence, but Ed wasn't. He flew bellow the radar because he was quiet, slow, and unnoticed, yet this movie shows him as a bully? I also wanted to know why they stuck Michael Berryman's character in the movie? Ed Gein didn't have help digging up body's, and the truth would have been much more twisted then the fictional situation. It may be a silly observation, but we know that the Gein house was basically a rats nest, and only the room his mother lived in was clean, yet there's an early scene where Ed's in the hall, and the carpet looked like it had never been left longer then an hour, without cleaning. I didn't hate the movie, but it was just another spin on a true serial killer, yet somehow they decided the truth wasn't as good as the fiction? It's worth a watch, but not if you want a true account of the gruesome truth of Ed Geins rampage.

Transformers (2007)
7/10
Better then most, but was missing something
6 July 2007
The movie was better then I expected it to be. It showed why it's worth turning some cartoons into live action films. I thought it was a nice touch that they used the same voice for Optimus Prime, as I remember when I was a kid. I can't put my finger on it, but it was missing something? The fx were fantastic, and the pace was fast, but it was alittle thick on the jokes made by human reaction, to seeing the Transformers for the first time. It was like watching the reaction Godzilla would get, but one to many times. The relationship between the lead character and his car was alittle less caring then it should have been. The movie was however, a great way to set up a second film etc. I think Transformers will be a great franchise, now that the introductions to humanity are out of the way, and we can get to the actual stories. The battle scene between Prime, and Megatron didn't lack any action, but it did lack the emotion, there battles showed on the cartoon. All that said, it is worth a view. Maybe not waiting in line, but surly worth the 140 odd minutes.

Dead Silence (2007)
Was this movie a joke?
25 March 2007
I just watched this movie, and have tried to find very positive things to say about it, because I couldn't imagine Leigh and James could EVER make a bad horror film. But I honestly thought it was very predictable, and the quote, shocking twists were obvious after 25 minutes. Donnie Wahlberg is a great actor, but this character was not for him. He has way to much talent to play a boring sarcastic, lurking character. I really hope I was just not with it when I watched this movie, and will give it another look, when it comes out on DVD. I must have missed something, because Im in disbelief, that they could team up,and make such a boring, unscary film. I hope I missed something? I almost feel betrayed!

Sail past this one!!!
23 February 2007
If I were paranoid of the water, Im sure I'd go on a trip for a wild 30th birthday party with the intent of going crazy, and I'd bring my little baby! The whole time saying Im silly for being a little chicken, because I almost drown, when little.(at least once a minute) Then allow the only people capable of driving it, go swimmimg with me alone on the boat. ALl the while sitting in amazement, of the blonde bimbo, that may or may not be smart enough to breath on her own! (She made Kelly Bundy look smart) Her and I aren't alone, right? I mean it's what everyone would do right? Thank God I downloaded this, and didn't lose anything other then my time!

Imagine a movie about John, but more about Yoko
11 February 2007
It's a good movie, and has great truth to it, but what we are shown is what Yoko wanted us to see. Her slave Elliot Mintz says whatever she tells him too. To portray John as a child unwanted, and incorrigible, is to enable a behavior, that hurt his relationship, with his son. Please don't get me wrong, what John did to promote peace was fresh, and honest. However we must take what's said in this film, and watch it, knowing the effect the widow with the copyrights, and ability to give access to needed information, had on it. The measure of a person isn't in shaping the ideas of a nation, but the home life they had. John is worthy of praise, and didn't deserve the bullying tactics of the ultra conservative crooks, in Washington. But Julian was to forever see a man save the planet, but did not have time to save a father son relationship. With that little rant over, it is a movie that offers new insight, but I am afraid, it's Yoko edited insight. Where's May Pang? Where's Cynthia, or Julian? A documentary is made to pose a question, and if the question isn't asked of all the players, what you get is a close minded statement.

What is there to say? It's, well. It's almost as good as Glitter, and Crossroads
25 January 2007
I wish I could change my # rating to -1! I have a good mind to sue the producers, cause they stole and hour, and forty minutes of my life. The movie didn't have any actors in it, just Abercrombie models. If your going to sit through it. Then you better buy a portable DVD player, a piece of laundry hose, and duct tape. Now tape the hose to your exhaust on the car, then feed it through the slightly cracked window. Turn on the car, and DVD. Sit back, relax, and see what toxin makes you fall asleep first.I think somewhere in that waste of a project, was a real idea, yet the script was horrible, William Hung has a much better chance at winning American Idol, then this movie has of ever being taken serious, as anything other then the worst movie still available at Blockbuster.

Rocky Balboa (2006)
9/10
The second or third best, of the franchise!
23 December 2006
You take a guy, and a movie, and you end on a sour note. Then 15 yrs later you take the same guy, and franchise, and comeback in the underdog story of the year, and you blow our minds with this movie. Leaving us wanting more. That's Rocky Balboa in a nut shell. Sylvester was seen as a guy grasping for one last go at the spotlight. Same with Rocky. The outcome was proof neither are jokes! and both deserve the attention they get. Im not sure it's cool to cry in a manly movie, but I'll tell ya, there sure are a couple parts where I had to start the nervous laugh so my eyes didn't water like a baby. We even got a ' yo Adriane ' I knew this movie would be amazing when I saw Stallone graciously taking his ridicule, and what were you thinking making another one. It would be a shame for anyone to not see this, because they think it was a money making ploy. I mean do people really think he would take this legacy and lay it out so people could laugh at him? He deserves such a great deal of respect as an actor, director, writer, and franchise pin cushin. They once said the Beatles were dead when they took a year to release a goofy titled LP called Sgt. Pepper. However as we all know now, it was the total opposite. Thats what Rocky Balboa is. It's Stallone's (wink, and I told ya so) movie. He may have been over exposed in the 80's, but he deserves a lot more credit then he has ever been given! Rocky 4 made me sign up to learn how to box, and I felt the same energy when this movie ended. If you don't see it, you'll miss out, on a true ending to the greatest underdog franchise EVER!!! Now excuse me I must go find my old Eye of the tiger album, and go running up the stairs to City Hall. Hey Yo Adriane He Did It!!!!!!!!!

It's surprisingly a funny movie!!!
21 December 2006
As it goes with most spin offs, I expected this to be a $4 budget poorly written train wreck, but the mix of a Stiffler with moral values, and the classic jerk Stiffler, work well. Stiffler getting the beat down from midgets ( little people) was great. Eugene Levy is all thats left from the original cast but he does a good job, in an Axl Rose minus Slash,Duff, Matt, and Izzy kinda way. He lends credit to the continuing American Pie theme. Although he really had to be placed at weird points, in the movie. It was great listening to him tell cousin Stiffler that he was at the school hanging out, because he's an alumni. Which is actually true, I think? Theschool used was the McMaster University Campus, in Hamilton. Eugenes from Hamilton, and as far as I know went to school at Mac. with Dave Thomas, and other Second City alumni. I would watch this movie a second time, and I think it could have been a strong enough premise, to have been a first run theater movie. It's really funny, and most will enjoy it. It deserves a shot.

This movie is on par with any Mariah Carey Glitter movie!
18 December 2006
I am Canadian, and can't stomach low budget Canadian shows, but I would enter those into any festival this movies in, and win hands down!!! I read this interview with the "star" of this disaster, and in it he said. "I have no projects lined up after this one,and will be hanging out in London with my girlfriend" I know exactly why he has no work lined up, and its because this movie will kill any future chances. He better get back to school ASAP! If the budget for this movie was over $12 then it's to much. I should have rented Basic Instinct 2 instead. Sadly I think I have found a way to kill of all zombies, that would do us harm. MAKE THEM WATCH THIS MOVIE. They will certainly be shooting out there own brains! John Tesh, whens your next CD out, cause you look pretty good at this time!

Flip This House (2005– )
10/10
Season 1 is a 10 The rest are all a joke
9 December 2006
Every weekend I turn on the the TV, and I see eighty episodes of Flip This House owned and written by The Big Trademark Southern Boy. First thing I think when the show comes on is A&E STOLE THIS IDEA!!!!!!! Then I remember a line from the episode where Ginger tells Richard that the contractors wanted $40,000 for the $10,000 job. Sadly I forget the exact wording (even though A&E have shown it 400 times), but it's along the lines of "these country boys don't know who there dealing with", and it makes me think of the greed a person or NETWORK must have to steal an idea, then assume they can find success using the idea, with different casts. Carefully paying attention to details, such as Will they work for less then scale? Are they smart or just thugs, whom kick doors in, and take a wholesome idea and turn it into Jerry Springer with hammers? Will they care if we steal the idea from another person,or be happy to have TV exposer, will they mind if we exploit them, and have fans upset, that they are unprofessional SCABS? I admit, they tried hard to mix the perfect combo's up. We have the brothers, and wives. One is a close close double for Gingers lap dog! We have the Kevin Character, only dumb, and works for slave wages. We have the Richard character, with the only difference being Richard knows money keeps you in business, but doesn't bring you peace of mind. Where as his double would throw this grand parents out if he bought the house they lived in. The other brother spends more time trying to be as pretty as Ginger, but ends up looking like John after a week with the Queer Eye crew ( not that there's anything wrong with that) Sorry John! We have the wife that is in charge of fixing up the house on the agreed upon budget (usually about $35) She tries to be Dawn, but Dawn is assertive not sneaky, and slimy. Plus the new STOLEN FLIP is full of people, whom agree to work for a low wage, but can never ever!!! satisfy the brothers McSlim. In fact the differences between the two shows, are so so apparent, and at this point pathetic. That I would not be shocked whatsoever if once the cameras shut off they have the little kids working on the house for there room and board. Yes this is a silly silly topic, and a little over dramatic!, but the point A&E missed is that like a baseball team, the name and market matter not when you have scabs playing for you!!! See You Next Year on your new channel!!!!!! Trademark = class act!!!! The Rest = bellow standard in every single way!!!!!!!
