Giant Little Ones (2018)
Missed the mark on so many issues
For a movie about sexuality and gay relationship, it has none of it except for a whole lot of heterosexual scenes and a caricature of a trans/nb person flat out sexually harassing and assaulting the main character. It doesn't matter because they all laugh afterwards. I could swear this movie was made in the 80's or 90's. It wants to deal with homophobia but it can't even show any kind of love or sex between two men. The main character gets together with his friend's sister who has a trauma which she takes out on him because he didn't show up at they party? What? She then reaches out to him only because he is considered gay in his school. Girl's gay friend trope also checked. It's like the movie was written by a white liberal heterosexual woman who just wanted to have a gay friend she could play with.
The Aeronauts (2019)
Heteronormativity, we meet again.
This is what fake wokeness gets you to. Hetero-washing history for ratings or for any other reason is simply conservatism. There's nothing progressive about this decision. What were they thinking.
Joker (2019)
The killer is you.
Joker is brought to the big screen in a way that you'll have no choice not to empathize him that It may be triggering to some people with problem glasses.
"The bad man who's bad because he's bad" turns out to be marginalized and treated poorly in society. We slowly witness him become who he is and how he actually stops being a victim as soon as he spills blood. Hard to watch at times, very dark and bleak but most importantly unforgettable. It's worth watching just for Joaquin Phoenix's performance. It is something else.
Charlie Says (2018)
Shameful
Just like to the movie "Monster" this movie tries so hard to make victims out of murderers only because they are women. Belongs to the category of feminist cinema where women can do no wrong.
