Suzume no Tojimari (2022)
Shinkai does it again!!
I've been a die hard fan of Makoto Shinkai ever since I watched Your Name and then Weathering with you, Five centimetres per second and Garden of Words back to back. The world he creates usingmagical visuals and mesmerizing music is just overwhelming. He is truly a wizard. The movie was fast-paced but didn't feel like it was. Every scene was beautifully made and captured emotions. Wonderful characterisation and writing. The movie beautiful portrayed the emotions a child feels when something precious is taken away at a young age. We got to see nature at its peak (as we do in most of Shinkai's movies) as the story smartly leverages the number of earthquakes that take place in Japan and puts it in a mythical plot. Loved every bit of it. Waiting for the next one.
How I Met Your Mother: Coming Back (2013)
Not the first kiss we deserved
I'm pissed off at the writers for throwing a random kiss (first on screen) shared by Ted and Tracy so casually. It was supposed to be special.
Marshall's kindness seemed a bit over the top.
The front desk stranger stole the show and Barney was legendary as always. The buildup is quite exciting I must say, but the Ted-Tracy clip just brought the excitement down.
Also, the writers shouldn't have confirmed Tracy to be the mother since it eliminates the element of surprise. It should have been more spontaneous. Have to watched the series till the end so maybe I'll change my mind.
Overall, in love with the series.
How I Met Your Mother: Cleaning House (2010)
Beautiful
Respect to the writers for blending comedy and emotion to make a beautiful piece of art. This is the first time I cried while watching this series. Barney's mom dressing up as Santa, writing fake letters, and making sure she lives up to the role of a father teared me up a little. This episode brings out a different side of Loretta.
The segment where the audience is prepared to see Barney's dad and instead it is introduced to James's is clever. Robin and Ted's segment felt a little unwanted, maybe the reason for an 8.2 episode rating. Barney Stinson was amazing as always. He finally comes out of his fantasy world and gives his mom a well needed appreciation.
This episode is a 10 and my favourite so far.
