My Mad Fat Diary (2013)
A Really Good TV Series
This TV series is excellent. It's about a teenage girl called 'Rae' (Rachael) who is released from a mental hospital, and now on her way to recovery. Rae is on a journey of self-reflection and improvement since experiencing a past of depression, self-harm and low self-esteem. She attends regular therapy sessions and writes daily in her diary as a means of exploring and expressing her feelings.
Rae comes out of hospital and returns back home to live with her Mum, and goes back to school (College) spending much time with her closeknit group of friends. The show focuses on her relationships at home and at school, and you can't help but form strong feelings for her and all the other characters.
Penguin Bloom (2020)
A very sweet film
I really enjoyed this movie. It is a lovely family film which is full of emotions (there are scenes and feelings of struggle, sadness, love and happiness).
"Penguin" (the name of the Bloom family's adopted Magpie bird) is just so so sweet. Penguin is the key to this film's success because she brings the family together, and pulls them through their struggles and sadness. Maybe the reason I liked it so much is because I love animals and nature.
¿Quién Mató a Sara? (2021)
Super intense & so much suspense. Can't wait for Season 2!
This is honestly hands down one of my favorite Netflix series. There is so much mystery and suspense, and also many unexpected plot twists. Because of the element of surprise, it keeps you wanting more. I cannot wait for Season 2 as the first season definitely ended on a cliffhanger.
Note for potential viewers - there are a lot of sex scenes throughout.
Yes Day (2021)
A Bit Silly
This movie is not the greatest; in actual fact, it's a bit silly really. There are parts which are supposed to be funny, however most of the time I was not laughing. A lot of this movie just seemed immature, and a bit dumb/stupid. I have definitely watched some very excellent family movies in my life that are hilarious, and unfortunately this falls below that standard.
Surviving R. Kelly (2019)
A Powerful Eye Opener
The title of this review explains it all. The victim interviews are powerful and there no doubt about it - R. Kelly is indeed guilty. #MuteRKelly
Love Actually (2003)
My 'go-to' Christmas Movie.
I've been watching this movie every Christmas since 2003, and it never gets old. A simply wonderful feel-good movie with many good actors whom I love. There are a lot of very bad and very cheesy Christmas movies out there (in my opinion) and this one stands strong/is never forgotten.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
A fun movie & a real laugh
Shamefully when I first watched this movie, at the time I'd never seen the original, so I certainly was not comparing. I just loved this movie so much though, mainly because I found it to be a lot of fun and a really good laugh. Highly recommended!
Operation Christmas Drop (2020)
Cute, Christmassy, and a True Story!
I enjoyed this movie. Essentially, it is just your standard Christmas cute, feel-good, romantic comedy. There is nothing spectacular about acting or thrilling about the plot, however the most interesting thing is that the story is based on true life.
Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia (2018)
Trevor is always Funny
Trevor's humor is always relatable, which is what makes him the most funny. I watched this episode on Netflix and I plan to watch all the other episodes on there too. He is always a good laugh.
The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020)
A Beautiful Feel-Good Movie
This was a beautiful movie with real true feel-good vibes. I would probably not categorize this movie as 'outstanding' or 'amazing', however it was very enjoyable to watch, and I would recommend others to also see it.
Captain Fantastic (2016)
One of my Favourite Movies
This is now officially one of my favourite movies. I loved it so much. I enjoyed the acting and the storyline, and there was a good mixture of emotions (both humor and sadness).
Nailed It! Holiday! (2018)
Annoying & Unimpressive
I watched two episodes and stopped. Honestly the host is super annoying and the commentary is silly and immature - it's supposed to be funny but it's really not. The baking from the contestants on the show is unimpressive - it's pointless to watch.
