In a Child's Name (1991)
Justice Is Great
There is nothing better than seeing someone who is straight up evil and heartless get what is coming to them. This movie was a tragic story but one that had a great ending. A man marries a young woman and beats her almost to death on their honeymoon, although the wife vows he didn't do it, only to find out for sure later that he did. After having a son with this man, he precedes to beat her to death, cleans up the murder and drives around with her body in his car for a week. Once he is found out, he makes up an outlandish story about why he did what he did. His sister-in-law (Valerie Bertinelli) fights to get her nephew back and to prove that he is trying to keep her from doing that. Pregnant and losing her sister she is emotional but she is strong and angry and knows exactly what this man is about, hes a liar. Hes a wife beater and she isn't going to let it go. Sharing custody with his parents they fight with everything they have, finding a lawyer to actually help their cause and get her nephew back. In the end thats exactly what she does. Getting custody and raising her nephew along side her own new daughter. Its a true story of a sister fighting for what she knows is right. Fighting for what she knew her sister would have wanted for her child. She doesn't give up and she doesn't quit. Its a touching movie, a sad movie and a horrendous sight a how someone could brutally kill another the way her husband did. He paid for what he did and he will never see his child again. A good movie, a must see.
A Matter of Justice (1993)
Strong
A young man joins the marines and falls for a woman who is nothing like his family would have liked. Shes a user, cruel and heartless. His new wife who doesn't seem to be anyones wife has him killed so she can have the insurance money and be free to do what she wanted as well as keep their baby daughter so she will have all the military rights there is. His mother is a outspoken, bossy woman who go to any lengths to find the proof and to get back her granddaughter who was stolen from them by their ex daughter-in-law. She goes as high as she can talking to congressman and anyone who will listen. They fight everyone they can to get their granddaughter back home and the woman who killed their son in prison where she should be. Patty Duke was great in this movie and she was tough and strong and i think every mother would hope to be as tough and strong as her if we were in the same position. She was loudmouthed and in your face and at times annoying. She was controlling and to demanding a person. But she did seem to get the woman who murder her son, and get her granddaughter back. She was a fighter. And her son deserved the justice, he was brutally my murdered and there was no reason for it. A great movie, touching and awe inspiring.
Losing Isaiah (1995)
Unrenting Love
2 women 1 child, but all the love in the world. Halle Berry was outstanding and Jessica Lang was as well. This movie was a great touching movie and showed us all that the love of a child goes deeper than anyone can imagine. A drug addict who leaves her baby in a box so she can go get high. A Dr. who gets attached to this drug addicted baby, who later adopts him. Its about a family who loves this little boy more than anything and in one swift moment the mother comes back, clean and sober and wants her baby back. Does she deserve him, whose to say, just because she made a mistake and almost killed him doesn't mean she loves him any less right??? A story about a woman who sees that she cant come in and take a child and make everything alright, a woman who feels dead and wants to die than to lose the child she has come to love as her own. Two women who come together to give this child all the love that they can. Its a touching movie, and and inspiration to see one woman turn her life around. Its a story not about race, but about LOVE and how one and even two can love someone so much. I really enjoyed it.
The Laramie Project (2002)
A true crime
When i first saw this movie i was filled with many different feelings, it was an truthful, accurate story about a young man who should not have had to die because of who he was. It shows the ignorance there is in people, the fear some harbor and absolute evil there is in some. This young man, a sweet small, man someone who was someones child was killed brutally because he was gay. Because he chose to be with men. Its a story from people who knew him, of other gay people who live with the fear of being harmed for being who they are. Its a story of how things are in this day and age. Its sad, horrible and tragic that this young mans family had to lose him because there are such narrow minded homophobic people out there. It shows up the different types of hate crime and racist there is out there. Its a touching, story one that makes you think, one that makes you feel and one that makes you wish you could change things. I would recommend this movie to any one who wants to see something meaningful, something with a touch of truth, something with a lot to say. Its a great movie with a tragic loss within it.
Gidget (1965)
Absoultey Adorable
This is one of the cutest shows of that time period. I would watch it every day after school. Sally Fields was wonderfully funny, adorably cute and just wonderful to watch. It was innocent and sweet and just plain, nothing fancy about it. It was boys, and friends and lots of worries for her father who was funny about it. It was growing up, it was enjoying being a teenager it was fun and it was exploring. Shows are made that way anymore. Times and things have changed its a pity, it was an endearing show with a sweet cast. To bad its not around for others to see and some teens to watch. It was before sex was in every teen show, it was before kids were sleeping with one another. Innocent thats what it is, where is innocence at now. I would recommend it to anyone who likes simple, and sweet.
Six Feet Under (2001)
One Of The Best Shows
This was one of the best series on TV. It was such a shame to see it end. I was glued to the TV every Sunday night waiting to see what would be happening. It was touching and hit a lot of spots, it was sexy, funny, serious, and creative. Seeing Nate die was a shock i think i didn't see it coming at all, i think one thing about this show was its constant turn on what was going on, it was always moving around and they always kept you guessing as to what could happen. It was great seeing David and Keith together and stay together. They struggled and had to find their place but they made it. Brenda was one of those characters that you either hated or liked and with that it was almost transitional at times to see yourself being supportive about her and for her. With Nate i think we saw someone who was bitter from the start and to the finish. As to whether or not he honestly was ever happen who knows maybe when he was dead. Claire we saw her become a grownup, taking responsibility and making her way into something good. Not destructive. And seeing her find a good person who would be strong and be hard on her was good to see.. Seeing Brenda grown into an adult who raised Nate's daughter as her own was great, i personally didn't want to see them take that little girl from her. There was so much we saw and so many we saw change before us, it was good to see. It was an amazing show and seeing that it ended the way it did was sad and a true ending. It ended it, and we saw how, it was heartbreaking to see Keith die i cried the whole time it was playing the end. It was a warm, touching show and it will be missed and yet enjoyed every time its seen.
The Butterfly Effect (2004)
Touching and Inspiring
Wow.. this was a truly great movie. Defianely and must see... Ashton Kutchner was great, we see him in a whole different light, you see a side of him you haven't before. Evan spends his whole life trying to make things right for everyone else around him. He loses and gains and hurts for those around him. He is so busy trying to make things right for everyone else and he never thinks soley on himself. He loves Callie and wants more than anything to be with her, but he wants her to be safe and never go through all she went through in her other lives. He gives up the love he holds so dear to protect her. He's absolutely precious in this movie. He seems very real in the movie and thats one thing that makes it so touching. He does an outstanding job and i would definitely recommend this movie to anyone. By the end you are wanting so much for him to find some kind of peace. Some kind of happiness. All the characters were greatly done, you could relate or dislike many and even sympathize with them as well. It was a great cast and a great movie!
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
Love the Creeper!
This is one of my favorite movies. The Creeper is awesomely done. This is one of the best done in a long time. The acting was really good, Justin Long did a superb job as Darry he was sincere and very believable. They all did a great job, one of my favorite parts of the movie was when they see the Creeper in the road getting a good look at him. He was creepy, and he was truly fascinating he look eerie and demonic. He has no sympathy for anyone and he's just plain evil. He's funny and has a bad temper. As for the ending it was sad to see darry die, and when it went off you left hoping to see the Creeper again and we do :)
Hitch (2005)
Funny
This was a romantic, simple funny movie. I really enjoyed it and would definitely say to watch it and enjoy it, Will Smith was funny, fumbly, nervous, sweet and just a simple guy who got hit by Love. It was cute to see him fall for someone and be so nervous and lost as to what to do or say. It was great. He was great, funny as usual. Eva Mendes was better than i expected her to be as well, i thought there were moments in the movie where Will got the shaft, he was doing everything he could being a good guy and still getting treated bad. The ending was romantic and happy and it was great. I have seen it several times, and would watch it again. A funny, movie, something you don't see a lot of anymore. It had the old time feel with a fresh new look.
Elektra (2005)
Very Enjoyable
This isn't one i could say was the best i have ever seen, but it was down to earth and very easy going. The story line was simple and yet followable. It was action filled. It was interesting, and it was real looking, the effects were awesome. The tattoo man was awesome the arts on that was great. Each character was interesting and definitely had your attention i think. Jennifer Garner was awesome, and very strong, i think she did her role without flaw, it showed her strength and physicalness. She was something to watch. It wasn't just a fight movie it was a very simple and very enjoyable i have seen it several times since it came out, and i would highly recommend it to anyone, it is enjoyable for kids as well as adults.
Boogeyman (2005)
Truly Bad
The whole movie was dark and jumping around, the story line was so very weak and the acting as so many have been lately was awful. There was truly no good anything to this movie, it wasn't scary and it was one of the dumbest ones i have ever seen. Or that i have seen in the last 5 years. It seems that there hasn't been a decent scary movie for some time. And everyone is desperately trying to make one and NO ONE has. This one was a bunch of running around trying to find something that was apparently right in front of him. So to speak. I wouldn't recommendit to anyone I wouldn't see it again if someone paid me. One of the mostannoying thing about it is they keep most of it in the dark which makes it hard to see.
Lady in the Water (2006)
Oh SO Slow
We saw this one or i should say some of this one this weekend it was a double feature and we sat through about 20 minutes, and it was going no where. The best thing about this movie is Paul Giamatti he's a great actor, this movie however doesn't do him justice. The movie was very slow and not as good as it was advertised to be. I have seen several of M. Night Shyamalan's movies and i have to say i am NOT impressed they are always anti-climatic. And very disappointing. But hey we have nothing to say about it. It was so slow and boring that we left before the end. I wouldn't sit through it again, I would recommend it to anyone. And i sure wouldn't pay to rent it either. But if you take the chance to watch it, hopefully you like it better than we did.
Silent Hill (2006)
Not what I hoped
Well the best part of this movie was seeing Sean Bean, and possibly the effects of the zombies. It was slow, and the heroine was annoying the whole movie, the cop in the movie who went out of her way to help was killed and that was a huge disappointment. It should have been the other, the ending sucked.. You think one thing until you realize its completely not.. It made no sense it wasn't scary as much as it was drawn out and long.. boring and slow. It could have been better. The acting wasn't so good either. The main character isn't that good and actress anyway but this was bad. They never really have reasons for these things. Don't waste your money here.
Pulse (2006)
Awful
This one isn't worth the money you pay to go see it.. we went and saw it this past weekend and it was AWFUL.. it was jumpy incomplete and stupid. Even paying attention you would be like what is going on i don't get it. Its not worth your time. Try to avoid this one. The acting was very limited and the writing was poorly done, it was similar to Silent Hill which was also a HUGE letdown. It wasn't scary at all, its like they are just throwing things together to make something scary and its not any good. No one was to smart in it, and the acting wasn't that impressive. People were killed off quickly and without a reason really. Its was just plain DUMB...
Velvet Goldmine (1998)
An Unforgettable Movie
Well I would have to say that if nothing else it was unforgettable, Brian was a talented guy who saw something in Curt he wanted to find, something he desired that was obvious from the moment he first saw him in the park concert. His wife i think he did once upon a time have a deep affection for whether it was love or not thats hard to say. I think as he got bigger and more famous he lost track of feelings and was true to no one but himself, i do however think he did love Curt as he wanted to work with him and have him be apart of his life and music, but i think that his manager and others around made him see things different, i also don't think when it came to his career he always thought of himself as much as he let people pull him along with what they wanted him to be. Turning him into something cold and unfeeling as it went along, i think when Curt left he just got colder and unfeeling inside not caring about anyone anymore other than what he wanted, what he could have and what was available to him. As for Authur i think he was all gone over Curt, and i think he might have given Curt some real connection as far as just being with him and not a star, he saw him as he was in front of him. and Authur was infatuated with both men i think. You could see that from his scene in his room(when he got caught) It was a bright, musical movie with a lot of movement. It was creative and not dull at all. I'm not much of Christian Bale fan, i don't care for him in nothing he's in, hes the same in every movie its like you can see that hes acting. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was great in this movie, from everything he did to every new look he held, their were moments when he was even beautiful.. and he came across wonderfully. Ewan McGregor i don't think i will ever see the same. It was stunning and shocking at time, he did however a brilliant job as showing us his emotions and the personality of his character. Altho it was an odd movie it was engrossing and interesting to see. His wife however i felt bad for she loved him unconditionally and got treated like crap, she was tossed out and thrown aside like she was nothing. It was sad to see that, Toni Collete did an awesome job though. If you want to see a movie that different, i would say watch this one. And i don't think as much as it would be great to see Brian and Curt together, they are two people who even may have loved one another wouldn't have been good for one another. They were my fav couple out of the men of course.
Ricky Nelson: Original Teen Idol (1999)
Incomplete
This was was a sadden display, the characters were all kinda dry and unfeeling. Ricky was scatty and seemed lost the whole movie and even made to seem shallow, somewhat dumb and very naive' He was even flighty and slow acting. His wife is made out to be somewhat a desperate girl who wanted to be an actress. Their love seemed faked and not sincere. His parents seems demanding and VERY controlling taking away any chance of Ricky or how brother being their own man, they allowed their parents to boss them and their wives around. There is a scene in the movie where Ricky's wife has their first baby, and being she was conceived before they were married he allows his parents to make the decision to have her put in an incubator for a week, saying she was early. And Ricky goes along with this whole charade. The movie seemed unreal and fake, meaning it didn't take you to any place it should have about a great person. I think it was a HUGE disappointment and a waste of time.
American Gothic (1995)
Loved it
It was a bit bizarre and evil and i enjoyed it a lot, the characters in the show were great as well, and complimented one another well. I was sorry to see it cut off.. I would have loved to see where it could have went. You found yourself leaning toward Lucas Buck the sheriff who had more secrets than anyone. Lucas was frightening and alluring. And I would have liked to have seen more of him and how his character became. I will however buy the show just to enjoy, it was great to something different on TV. And Paige Turrco who was Caleb's cousin, she was a big mystery as to where and what she meant to Lucas. Its a shame it isn't around still.. or was never finished, i would have loved to see what would have happened.
Scooby-Doo (2002)
What did I think..
Well I am a former child of the Old Scooby Doo cartoons and shows. I was a HUGE fan and i loved Scooby he was my all time favorite cartoon. I was even him in a school play :) i was very excited. Now when i heard they were making a movie, and actual movie with him I have to say i wasn't looking forward to it at all, i figured that would mess it up as they have so many others from when i was growing up. But oldest daughter however was and is a HUGE fan of the show, and Scooby so when the movie came out i figured i would take the kids, grin and bare it and let them enjoy it whether i did or not... but i have to say I REALLY DID ENJOY IT. Scooby was just as i had always imagined he would be and the character of Shaggy i honestly didn't think they would find anyone who could pull that off, but i was so thoroughly impressed with Matthew Lillard as Shaggy he nailed right down to the walk, I love him.. he was to me the epitome of Shaggy exactly what i had in my mind. The others did well also as i didn't think they would pull if off, but to my surprise they did a geat job they worked well with one another and complimented one another as well. It was great to see something that was so endeared as a child be something my kids could have that love for now. I recommend it to anyone who wants to see it or who is a true fan of the old show. They didn't ruin it, they did it justice.
Sybil (1976)
Endearing Sybil
I loved it for the time it was made it was made great, Sally Feild was touching, sweet, innocent and all around wonderful in it. She showed us emotion and fear. No wonder she is such a great actress. One of the first serious ones she did after Gidget & Flying Nun, she showed us just how great she could be. Its a long, heartbreaking story and i definitely recommend it to anyone who is serious about sitting down and watching it. I see there making another one, a new one. No one will ever be able to do it like Sally. I hope they don't ruin a great movie by adding things or embellishing way to much. It would ruin the story and depth of it all.
