Testament: The Story of Moses (2024)
A refreshing look at a old story
As a recovering Catholic, it's nice to see the story told thru the perspective of other religous professional. Some people think the first story they are told, is the only story and they are told you can't question the story, so they must trash anyone who dare show them a different version of the story.
This is a well made production. I like the mix of the the story while mixing it with the views of other scholers as you move along the timeline. Nobody was there, so nobody can say " this is what really happened" so to say the story is wrong is uneducated opinion.
They told the story thru the eyes of different people, giving the viewer the ability to make up their own opions on the story.
Resident Alien: Family Day (2022)
Not expecting Shakespeare
The best part of this episode is what has been lacking in the previous, character development. I mean learning the back story to the other character, not just Harry and Asta's.
The daughter was a nice way to expand on Harry's ability to be more human and to understand the world around him.
Learning the background of the dufus sheriff makes him a little more tolerable. But "Mayor Snowflake" and the little dominatrix Sahar, really need to fall into the mine shaft and never come out.
I do like that they are giving the deputy (Elizabeth Bowen) a little more time to show off her comedic chops.
This is one of those episodes where you want to say it sucks, yet the funny moments outweigh the cringe worthy moments.
Ricky Stanicky (2024)
It gets better as it goes along!
If you can get past the first 15 minutes of the movie, you will enjoy it. The first part is filled with social messaging and the mandatory diversity speeches. The three main men are cuckold and lack a spine (as expected).
Its sad qwe need ot remind people of this: This is a movie, not a documentary. So, some things may not make sense in the real world, but this is a real comedy. There is something funny for just about everybody.
Most of the leadign cast ar pe retty blah. And I never paid much attention to the actor John Cena before , but now I will. What an amazing talent. If it wasn't for him and Willaim Macy, the movie would have bombed completely. His character actually grows on you.
Just don't go in with high expectations, relax, turn your brain off and enjoy the show.
La Brea: The Journey, Part 2 (2023)
Watching a train wreck!
You want to look away, but you can't because certain family members want to see it to the end.
Let's review: sink hole opens in the middle of LA and only 20 people fall thru.
They find another camp from an earlier sink hole. Some from new hole had been there before.
Man kills charging bear with pocket knife and leaves the bear there.
Local wildlife stay away from camp except time times. Local wildlife looks like they came from a bad 1950's sci-fi flick.
They use a jeep that runs on nothing but no other vehicles seem to work.
The doctor perform cpr on person, giving up after 3 pumps.
They find a tall tower that built to send them back but a survivor blows it up and everyone survives.
And these are the highlights!!
La Brea: Topanga (2021)
Best comedy of the year.
This show and others like it is why we all wanted Hollywood to stay on strike a few more years. The plot holes in this make it a bad comedy. Lets try to break the chain instead of opening the bear trap?? Seriously??a I want their jeep. It never needs fuel? You have High school drama class dropouts trying to pretend to act while the elementary school writers try to prove they know what they are doing. I was waiting to see if Lego sponsored the special effects. Here's an idea. Want to get drunk fast? Take a shot of whiskey every time you say WTF? You will be drunk in the first ten minutes. Yea, it's that bad. It's that funny.
World War II: From the Frontlines (2023)
Living History in Color
Very well done production. Nice timeline. But what really makes this series standout is the colorization of some well researched footage.
Looking at it in color seems to make it a little more real, a little more relevant for people today. Being in color, more more people can connect with our history.
History is is not always pretty and its not here to appease your feelings. Its here to teach us about where we came from and how we got here and these series does a wonderful job at that
I watched the series as I also read the comments here and I realized a lot of the negative comments did not match what I saw on the episodes. I don't understand why you would write a negative comment about a show you never watched or did not understand.
This was never advertised as an in-depth or deep analyzation of the various battles. It was a well put together, general timeline of all the events as they were happening around the world. Using real footage and interviews of the people who lived it.
Putting the timeline together, finding the footage to match the timeline, then painstakingly colorizing it, was an amazing feat. Well worth the time to watch and for some, maybe learn something.
Night Court: Ready or Knot (2023)
Thank you Fast Forward button
So many wasted opportunities to be a really fun and funny episode. Its about weddings and marriage. Any script writer of any talent shoudl be able to make this fun and funny to watch.
But then, they did not hire for this show based on talent (look at the supporting cast) , the writers again show they have no clue to what the show is about or how to write comedy. That not-funny laugh track is annoying as ever.
The actress Lacretta is a waste of time, she needs to be replaced (as does most of the supporting cast) in this episode, her stupidity is beyond tolerable. If she thinks she thinks she is the modern version of Bull, think again. I can see why Richard Moll (Bull) did not want to be associated with this cast of misfits. He isn't that desperate for a paycheck.
By episode 11, you should have a cast that gets along and can play off each other. Other than when John Larroquette interacts with Melissa Rauch, there is zero chemistry between the cast..
Not good...
Daisy Jones & The Six (2023)
They did it!!
This is the first movie to make the 70's rock music scene look boring and flat. Six shows in and it's like watching paint dry. Characters are flat, no depth or emotions. It seem they arr there just to collect a check and add something yo their portfolio. Like others have said, the choreography is awesome. The clothing and furnishings are more interesting to watch than the characters or the acting. Amazon is proving once again that Hollywood is dead. They have no creativity, no new ideas. No new inspirations. They just repackage old themes with no sense of why or how the originals worked. It had potential.
Tulsa King: Go West, Old Man (2022)
Better than expected
Ok, its a television show with Sly Stallone in it. So from the start you know reality has no part of the writing or production.
You should also know is that I have NEVER been a fan of anything Mr. Grunt has ever done. Ever.
So to see that he made a TV series made me wonder just how desperate Netflix has become for shows or Sly needing to be in the press again.
With all that said, I was presently surprised in his ability to actually act and see that he can read a script that has more then 3 words in it!
Yes, most of his actions are very stiff (all those years of hanging out in jungles and fighting in a ring can do that to a guy) and his one liners are all delivered with deadpan accuracy, makes this an enjoyable show to watch.
Yes, it has violence in it. It is a Sly Stallone show after all. Yes, some of the scenes make no sense and why Tulsa? Remember, this is a Sly Stallone show so its not suppose to make sense.
Watch it for the pure entertainment value of it!
In the end, I would have to say this is one of the better "fish out of water" shows I have seen in a long time and looking forward to watching more.
Better Call Saul: Mabel (2017)
Better call chuck??
Getting real tired of this being about Chuck. I thought this was about "Sal". Chuck really needs a ride to the train station. Not sure how this show can last as long as long as this nutcase remains the focus of so many episodes.
Can we get back on track??
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Time I will never get back
Remember how boring season one of Breaking Bad was? Here is two hours of watching paint dry...
Luke Cage: Can't Front on Me (2018)
Best of the season
A lot of reasons to write this episode off. A lot of holes in the plot...
But Shades confession made it all worth watching. Very realistic. Believable in his words and emotions.
As he let it all flow out without caring what others thought. He also accept the anger by others he hurt.
Lady and the Tramp (2019)
Its a movie!
Leave your politics for 90 minuter and try to enjoy something for a change. Its a movie! You will live!
Still a nice simple love story told thru a couple of mismatched dogs.
Bringing a classic Disney cartoon to life is a fun trip down memory lane.
Sam Elliott as a bloodhound was brilliant.
The Magicians (2015)
Soap opera for the sexually confused
Maigicians? More like a soap opera for the sexually confused.
Other than some seriously bad acting and notably teleprompter reading, I have never seen a show with such micharacterized characters.
Almost every male actor behaves as if they are a few days away from getting their monthly friend and in need of a hug from every other male in the room.
68 Whiskey (2020)
If they were to update MASH
I'm not looking for a military documentary, I'm looking for entertainment and this hits it right.
I would say this is the 2020 version of MASH. Gritty reality mixed with serial overtones and stressful comedy situations.
The best part is the cast has great chemistry together. Their storyline make sense given the situations. They are believable.
Looking forward to seeing more.
Broke (2020)
Will need new laugh track
A third string actress in a number one dramatic show moves into lead role of a comedy show.
Who thought this would work?
The lack of talent is only the beginning. The laughtrack got old 5 minutes in...
Seriously not funny.
Avenue 5 (2020)
It's not seinfeld
Finally a show for those of us who dont need to have the jokes explained to them!
Like most new shows using real comedy, it takes a awhile to get better.
The bad reviews are probably from people who see themselves in some of passengers depicted in the show.
It has room for improvement and each episode is showing the improvements as the primary characters start to get flushed out.
Space Balls meets Star Trek meets mystery science 3000....
Dante's Peak (1997)
Best disaster comedy ever!!
There are really bad movies, there are really stupid movies, then there is Dante's Peak.
Somehow the movie gods claim this to be a drama! In reality it's a great comedy where the viewer knows the entire setup in the first 5 minutes. Then spends the rest of the time watching one unbelievable scene after another.
Trucks successfully driving thru hot molten lava. Boats melting in rivers. Actors trying to be serious.
This movie is so stupidly silly you have to keep watching it to see what they do next beside laughing all the way to the bank to cash their paychecks..
Oh, yea, I gave it a 3 because the special effects, even for its time, were spot on!! Otherwise, it would be a one star...
