Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
Same rehash slop from previous movie
I'll admit, its easier to watch then GvK. Has less corny humor in this one, and had a huge 80s retro music vibe to it.
However, the plot is very basic, and all the interactions involving humans is just side story, nothing else.
To sum up the plot, Kong moves to a new neighborhood. No one knows him or fears him. Meets the bully of said neighborhood. Bully has his own version of Godzilla; fight does not go well for Kong. Kong then needs help of a 3rd party to convince Godzilla to help him take down the bully. Godzilla kills a few other monsters to absorb enough nuclear energy to help Kong beat the bully.
Notting Hill (1999)
ROM-COM that works
I'm not one to watch rom-coms, let alone like them. But this one does it for me. Great line up, believable story (to a point), and above else, good comedy(not overbearing) that would work in a group of real friends. In my entire collection of owned movies, this is probably 1 of the very few rom-coms I own myself and watched many times. Definitely two thumbs-up.
Simply put, a guy meets a girl that is way out of his league, but chance has it, they end up connecting and the ride takes off on a roller coaster of events and emotions. From Spike the roommate, to the close friends, it is all down to earth conversations that could actually happen, apart from her "movie script reading" with Hugh.
This Is the End (2013)
I've never wanted to walk out of a movie so much
I have never walked out of a movie on purpose, but this one almost had me. I knew nothing about this movie when I walked in the theater as the party I was with picked it.
It may be funny for majority of the population, but as a Christian, this film was highly offensive. But, yes, its supposed to be comedy. I remember rest of the audience laughing throughout the movie, I might have even laughed at a few scenes. But in 2nd half of the movie, it took a turn for the worse as depicting the apocalypse and Revelations from the bible. It was appalling how much the writers wanted to make jokes and fun about the end of time and world coming apart. Can honestly say I would never watch this film again. Was not a bad movie or poorly directed/acted, just not my taste. Even as a Christian, I can withstand a bunch of crude humor, but this was too much.
DC League of Super-Pets (2022)
Ok for kids, boring for adults
I really felt like I was watching a DC version of The Incredibles. There were some funny parts, especially the intention bleep scripted parts. However, story was lacking and completely predictable. Almost fell asleep during it.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Definitely a "What If"
I did enjoy the movie, the trailers don't give you the real picture.
I walked out of this movie with a "hmm" feeling. Basically, Wanda is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. To me, it was basically a side plot of Avengers vs Wanda, but you can't kill off real avengers in their own universe, so let's do made up avengers in alternate universe. Plain and simple. Rest of the story is just fluff.
Would be interesting if F4 and Xmen are being brought in to the MCU or this was just a quick little tease, but no real strategy of mixing the universes.
Moonfall (2022)
Easy to follow, hard to like
Spent more money on CGI and visual effects than the story and dialogue.
Felt like I was watching Armageddon, ID4, Day after tomorrow, 2012 all mixed into one. There were some quick little puns thrown in there to have a quick laugh here and there. Overall the movie moves so quickly that no character build is introduced. If someone was to die, there was no real emotion felt by the audience.
Music however was pretty good. I found myself liking and wondering who the composer was that I immediately looked it up walking out of the theater.
Red Notice (2021)
Funny action flick
Funny, entertaining, and somewhat clean. Was definitely a good watch. Don't believe all these negative reviews. It's a good watch. Ryan does his usual quick witted responses, rock is little bit more tame than his usual characters, and gadot was interesting seeing play an antagonist.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Mediocre
Story was kind of lazy. No back story between the two main characters. Naomi Harris' performance was super cringing at best, couldn't stand her high-cratchy voice.
Only thing that made this movie was the interaction dialogue between Eddie and Venom, plus the mid-credit scene.
Black Widow (2021)
A marvel movie not needed
The story was alright and easy to follow, however, i find myself watching an origin story that was 6-7 years too late. It provided no insight or adding more story to the whole marvel universe, besides possibly introducing 1-3 characters that may show up in future movies.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Uninteresting story
Too much movement for the eyes to keep up. Felt like I was on a ride at universal studios more than I watching a film. That and a weak story to go along with it and made up sci-fi plots. Least with 1st and 3rd movies they tried to explain how this was happening. Here they just thru a bunch of quirks in the film to make it moving, but no explanation.
Knives Out (2019)
Good murder mystery
I enjoyed this movie, especially going in not knowing anything beyond it being a "Clue" type movie.
Daniel Craig put on a wonderful performance.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Why all the hate?
I actually liked this film. I knew nothing going into the movie and came out going....she's a badass! I was on edge of my seat practically the whole movie. It was very thrilling.
And the score! Loved the music.
I'm not a huge X-men fan, but this one I really enjoyed.
