#Xmas (2022)
One of the worst Hallmark Christmas movies ever made
The lead actress talked so low and mumbled so much, that I had to turn on the closed captioning in order to understand what she was saying. Between that and her pained, pinched expression she wore throughout the movie, it made it one of the worst Hallmark Christmas movies that I have ever watched; and I watch every Christmas movie every year. I couldn't see what the lead actor saw in the lead actress, as there was nothing loveable about her. Losing your father at a young age and having your mother remarry a few times, while painful and distressing, should not be that traumatic to affect every area of your life for so many years. Get some therapy and get over yourself already.
Royally Wrapped for Christmas (2021)
Underwhelming and overacted
Once again we have Jen Lilley as a self-deprecating woman who acts like a nervous Chihuahua. This time with Brendan Fehr, whom I normally like in every movie in which I have seen him; however, I could have done without the fake accent. By the way, why does every royal from a fake European country have a weird version of a British accent? ( As a side note to Ms. Lilley, I wouldn't normally comment on someone's appearance, but someone really needs to tell her that she looks better as a brunette. The blond washes her out, especially as she gets older.)
The Valentine Competition (2021)
Been there, seen that
The movie is set in a town called Valentine. The main character Catherine returns home to work at her mother's garden store after graduating with her MBA. Her mother is very Type A, as is her daughter. Catherine meets the manager of purchasing, Jack, who has moved to town to help take care of his parents and who is Type B. One of the workers at the garden store makes an ordering mistake and they receive 600 cases of flowers instead of 60 cases. They decide to have a decorating contest as a way to offset the cost, with the prize a free backyard makeover. As the contest ramps up, the neighbours get very competitive and decorating chaos ensues. The mother tries to rig the contest so that she doesn't have to pay for the backyard makeover. As I watched this movie, I kept having a sense of deja vu and then it hit me. I remembered a Christmas movie called Christmas on Chestnut Street (2006) A store decides to start a contest to sell off 60,000 Xmas lights, ordered by accident. The competition soon causes unrest among the locals, but the store's owner, Diane, wants to keep what has become a very profitable competition going, at all costs. I am getting tired of watching movies with almost the exact same plot. Doesn't anyone have any original ideas anymore?
Sweet Home Carolina (2017)
don't waste your time
Paul Greene was pretty good. He did the best with what he had to work with, plot and co-star wise. I've seen him do better in better movies. Heather McComb started out okay, but went downhill as the movie went on. Lexi Giovagnoli was awful, as always. I don't know who told this girl she is an actress, but they were wrong. I've seen her in a few movies now, and she is bad in every one. Very bad overacting. The plot started out okay and seemed to be moving at a good pace until the last part of the movie, when everything was wrapped up very quickly and the two main characters seemed to get over their problems with no discussion at all. Also, the house they moved to started out looking like it had been neglected for 50 years and then suddenly with a bit of cleaning and tweaking it looks like a show home, when no major repair work has been done on it. Seriously? Heather's character was broke and working a part-time waitress job. She had no money for major house repairs. She was subletting her house in LA, (which was never explained how they were able to move back into before the year was up), but would have had to use that money to pay the mortgage. Too many plot holes and bad acting to enjoy the movie. Spend your time on better movies.
Christmas Town (2019)
Adoption issue
I also found it weird that she is allowed to adopt a child when she has no permanent address and no where for the child to stay. Also, if Travis loved Dylan so much, why didn't he apply for adoption himself?
One more thing, the shopkeeper had just put the angel in a box as he was showing Lauren the room and the next day he couldn't remember where he saw it? If his memory is this bad, I fear for the running of his store. The store also looked like Hoarders paradise. How does he stay in business?
Poinsettias for Christmas (2018)
Needs new plot
If you watched Tulips In Spring, you have seen this movie already. Hallmark has too many recycled plot lines. Time to hire new writers with fresh ideas.
A Perfect Christmas (2016)
Re: the wife's forgetfulness
The reason why the wife keeps forgetting things is because she is pregnant. "Baby brain" or the inability to remember stuff is a side effect of pregnancy. If you know this, then you can sympathize with the leading lady and can understand why she gets flustered when she keeps messing up, as she normally is at the top of her game.
Switched for Christmas (2017)
Did I miss a scene?
Where is the scene with teenage Chris, Kate, Blake, and Tom? They are all listed in the credits, but I don't remember any scene with them in it.
With Love, Christmas (2017)
bad makeup
Was anyone else distracted by the male lead's orange face? Also the fact that when he turns sideways, you can see the orange makeup line between his face and neck. It's called blending, people. Make the face and neck the same shade, please! Other than that, typical hallmark Christmas love story, with no chemistry between the leads and wooden acting by the male lead. I've seen him in a few movies now, and it is always the same role; reserved, uptight, barely any facial expressions.
