The Thing About My Folks (2005)
Bickering and Farting...Farting and Bickering
This movie could have been 15 minutes long if it weren't for all the bickering between son and father. Very predictable. Both Male "stars" need a good slap in the face! Would you like some cheese with that "whine?" Two chuckles...and a headache. I can understand why the mother left her hubby after 47 years...I don't know how she lasted that long! The first 5 minutes made me want to turn the movie off wishing I had never paid the $3.99 to watch it! The movie didn't flow well and was painfully long. I kept watching my watch hoping time would fly faster...It didn't. The script had so much repetition that it had to be easy for the writer to fill space. On a positive note...the scenery was pretty, fall being my favorite season. The car, the 40 Ford was also quite nice. This movie gets an D- rating approaching an F
The Girl in the Café (2005)
The Girl in the Cafe
We had just signed up for HBO and I sat to watch a movie while I ate my morning breakfast after a long tiring night at work. I turned on The Girl in the Cafe to watch something "different". I couldn't stop watching it. I missed the first part of it and haven't been able to find it on HBO again, so I recently purchased the movie on ebay and am very anxiously awaiting its arrival! The movie is amazing. I just wish it was longer. The actors seem like a very unlikely couple but it is fun to watch their relationship with all of its twists and turns. The part I started watching was slow moving, but their "accents" kept me watching. I continued to watch all the way to the end with my cereal long gone. I tried to find the movie again for my husband to watch so he too is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the DVD I ordered. The movie has the same kind of pace as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet but is more realistic and educational.
