Have Gun - Will Travel: Broken Image (1961)

Is that the same dress Grace Kelly wore in High Noon?
1 December 2020
I'm watching the episode and I can't get past the dress that the lady who brought Paladin (June Vincent) is wearing. It looks just like the dress that Grace Kelly wears in High Noon. Perhaps it is just the same style but it certainly caught my attention!

Worst Indian Accent Ever!
25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
While sheltered in place, I watch "Rawhide" most mornings and enjoy it. This episode was weird but with John Drew Barrymore as the Indian with blue eyes and the worst accent I've ever heard. Sometimes it was asian sounding and other times like nothing I've ever heard. The plot was so dark too! I am amazed at the number of extras that are "killed" every week. Life seems so devalued in these old TV shows.

One of the best documentaries ever!
2 June 2020
I love documentaries and I love old movies. I found this series by searching on Youtube for the actual voices of some of the silent screen stars. I had no idea how transformative this series would be. I have a new understanding of silent films and the inventions that enabled all of the major changes related to movies. Wonderful to see these old actors, directors and technical people talk about the actual processes and stories. I can tell that I'll need to go back again and watch this again. I've been watching several of the silent movies they mention and they mean so much more to me. I watched "Wings" with a new interest and saw so much more than when I tolerated watching it earlier. I hope this does come out on DVD sometime so that people will know the incredible treasure to be found here!

Wow, what virtuosic women musicians!
27 June 2018
I was just watching a Shirley Temple movie I recorded, "Stowaway" and let the recording play. This short came up and it caught my attention because the band/orchestra had a Tuba with it. Usually the big bands did not have that instrumentation and it caused me to start watching. These musicians were incredible and I thought the part where they sang was great. I know they were all wearing blonde wigs and I wondered what they would have looked like with their natural looks. The odd instruments besides the Tuba were, banjo, accordion, two grand pianos, two harps, 2 guitars. The marvelous, trained alto soloist was the accordionist and I loved how the orchestra all stood without instruments to make up the choir behind her. Only the pianists and 1 harpist accompanied them. I thought it was a cool arrangement and some Sweet Adeline group could do a good job with it. The dancer had real blonde hair and was amazing and then went right back to her harp. The pianists were able concert pianists, the lead saxophone was an great jazz player and the all the brass were great. The lead trumpet player was a little chubby and I was happy to see that there was a larger woman in the group since all the rest looked like models. That one player might have been a man in drag but I'm pulling for a bigger woman!

I loved this and was thrilled to see such fine women players from 1934. Pity they had to add so much novelty and couldn't just be the excellent musicians that they were. BRAVA!

Did you notice the farmer with the mud that gave them their clue?
27 September 2009
Hey, during the 2 hour pilot, did anyone notice that the farmer who give them their clue at the mud pit, didn't look Vietnamese at all? He totally looked Caucasian. It made me want to look online and see if he had an American soldier father in the 60s? Did anyone else notice?

I'm also surprised to see Amazing Race on right now. There are too many pilots on right now to fully enjoy this. I like it better in the summer when there is nothing else on all week long and this is the highlight of the week. And Survivor is on too? My husband loves all reality TV and there is no time to watch everything right now! All we need is Americal Idol and we wouldn't have time to go to work!

I Love This Movie
18 December 2008
Everyone here is a tough crowd criticizing this movie. I remember seeing it as a young kid and it made quite an impact on me. Everything seemed so real in it. I watched it again today and looked up the illnesses that the young girl from an Asian island and the guy that was a mercy killing had. They were real diseases that might have occurred in 1962. The scene where the woman has her baby was the first time I saw something close to a real birth. I remembered her scene even as I had my own baby years ago. It seemed very well acted! I also appreciated the interracial aspect of this movie that had such a good mix of non lead characters. Pity, they weren't the leads but still, great progress for the time. It must have been a cutting edge movie at the time because it still is has interesting themes for us. It was very ahead of its time. I enjoyed it immensely!

Loved the setting!
7 May 2007
I had never even heard of this movie and decided to record it today. I thought it was sweet. I love Rick Springfield too and I especially loved that it took place in San Francisco. The scenery was wonderful and they hit all the best spots in SF down to my favorite hotel, (pre-remodel) The Fairmont. It looked great and so did he! I'm watching his concert scene again and am having flashbacks. I didn't think I even missed the 80's until I see him again. Mm, this "Love Somebody" song is awesome! He looks just like an old boyfriend of mine. What is Rick doing now? The hardest thing about this movie is picturing him with that fuddy-duddy therapist. Oh my gosh, I didn't think I could like a bi-level haircut again! He's dreamy. Think I can get my husband to try that?

Different Doris Day
25 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
What a surprisingly different movie for Doris! Very dated info but interesting to see the perspective on planes in the 1950s. It's a little disconnected but I loved hearing all the SF Bay Area names mentioned. The views of Monterey and an old SF Airport are cool. Who would have thought of Louis Jordan as a bad guy! This seems like the original model for the sarcastic "Airplane" with a woman landing the plane in an emergency. I came to IMDb because I saw the name Martin Melcher on the credits and wondered if this was when she met her husband. It was interesting to hear that they were already married by this time.
