Inventing Anna (2022)
I cannot finish it.
I high high hopes about this show but I cannot see myself finishing this after 5 episodes in. I thought I would love this show because I am a fan of Ms. Julia Garner but alas her presence on this show is dwarfed by Vivian Kent, the obnoxious woke reporter who would on occasion s blurt out woke slogans.; as Ms. Garner is also guilty of doing this as well. I find myself not caring for any of the characters and I have clicked on "Remove from Row."
A Simple Favor (2018)
Surprisingly good movie with good twist and ending
I usually don't write reviews but I have to now since I saw so many negative reviews about this movie not knowing if it wants to be a thriller or comedy and how the ending was not plausible .
Well , I wanna day why would a move want to categorize it's self to a genre? Why not just be a good movie with good acting, good story telling and twists at the end? I'm tired of watching movies knowing what it is supposed to be.
Men in Black: International (2019)
Predictable , full of special effects , and plenty messy
The only thing going for this movie is the sound effects they reflected very well in the IMAX Theater. When I saw Tencent as one the companies involved in this movie I froze for a second, Tencent if you guys don't know is this huge Chinese internet conglomerate that owns stuff like WeChat , and Tencent games, they are Notorious for making utterly bad CGI filled cheesy Chinese movies . Well , they didn't disappoint, this movie is a mess, from story line , PC, to CGI heavy . I'm glad the movie was free for me (amc stubs reward)
If you have to pay don't go wasting your money.
Home Beyond the Sun (2004)
Unrealistically awful movie.
First, being Christian, i love watching Christian-themed movies. I endured Marriage Retreat, Brother White etc etc, but this one i can't even begin to express how badly this movie was made.
While i love the idea of the movie and the Chinese theme is really interesting because I am of Chinese descent. When i am 40 minutes into this movie i just kept shaking my head in disdain. In some parts i'm not sure if i should cry or laugh..i mean why would an orphan from China's City of Kunming (Beautiful city by the way) speak perfect American English and not knowing anything about America?? I know spoken language is English to make things easier on the American Audience (which this movie is geared towards) but come on, be a little creative on this part.. in addition, the actor for the main police officer looks like an Asian American from Santa Monica.. come on people get some real Chinese actors. I know for a fact that you guys have way enough in L.A.
That aside, the biggest problem with this movie is that it very inaccurately portraits the way Chinese authorities deal with ordinary citizens.. the way they harass people? That's non existent now in China.. They don't walk around with weird uniforms and ask people for papers.. They don't care what you do as long as you don't form a group that could threaten the local government in their eyes. I know about house churches being bulldozed and yes that's very true.. but they don't just go house to house to hunt down possible Christians. In other words, this movie attempts to show China as a Nazi regime and China is far far from it.. she's a very complicated society made up of money hungry Communitists who will let the populace do many things freely but tighten the grip once they see something is "wrong". Think of weibo.
Do a better job on your research and stop misinforming the good ignorant American Christian Population.. At least hire me as a consultant.. jeez.
Deux frères (2004)
What a great movie!
Have never heard of this movie till we saw it last night and we were absolutely blown away! Are these real tigers in the movie? They looked like real to me and no CGI was involved except maybe in one scene where the mother tiger was trying to chase after her cubs.
Human actors had sub par performances but like other mentioned here this movie is not about the humans but the tigers. Those extremely adorable tiger cubs that I'm sure everyone will fall in love with the second that they lay their eyes on them.
This is also an very emotional film for it depicts how cruel can humans be, and the moral of it all is to reserve wildlife and give these magnificent animals one more chance on this planet.
Dead End (2003)
Not bad for a low budget horror film.
Just saw it.
I am no fan of B horror films but this one really kinda stuck on me.
Few things i don't quiet get:
1) why would "he" let the daughter go? 2) why the ending? like many said here, an alternative ending would be much better. 3) why was that woman doing all the killing??
Other than those, it was a very different film with fairly good acting. I especially enjoyed the father, he was just hysterical to me. The mother really grossed me out, she is one unattractive woman to say the least and that scene with her touching her own brain was just uncalled for!
I thought the doctor chacater at the end was quiet tacky but anyhow..
