Casting all wrong!
22 May 2024
I am perplexed as to why they would cast a 55 year old Nicole Kidman to play a 40 year old Lucile Ball? Not sure what they did to Nicole's face to try to achieve this look, but it was very distracting. Lucile Ball was a beautiful woman, as is Kidman in her natural state. This movie made both Lucy and Nicole homely. Then they choose a 35 year old to play Vivian Vance. Does everyone not see the incongruity? And honestly, I don't understand why an actor such as Nicole would accept a role not suited to her age. Same with Javier Barden- too old for the roll. In a nutshell: I think Desi and Lucy would be deeply offended by the actors chosen to represent their younger selves.

"FEAR" or "CAPE FEAR"?
23 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Not sure why no one has called it out on being the remake that it is? The plot is almost identical to the original Cape Fear( 1962 with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum ) right down to the killing of the family dog. It was remade in 1991 with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte. Both were excellent. I enjoyed this movie as well- saw nothing wrong with the acting, as others have reported. My only issue with it really is that the plot was stolen from the aforementioned, yet credit wasn't given. Generally, I like to watch remakes( although admittedly they are rarely as good as the original) as long as credit is given where credit is due.

Is everyone missing the point?
2 December 2019
I've read the user reviews, and people seem to love or hate it. Yet, no one seems to have pointed out the obvious: it is only the kids that speak in "modern slang". The adults are all speaking appropriate to the era. So the underlying theme is the age old concept of kids and adults speaking different languages, and therefore not understanding one another. Schultz did it with the Peanuts characters and more recently Macfarlane with Family Guy. I am a 56 year old WASP, so am the definition of "stuffy" and I throughly enjoy period shows and movies. This was NOT intended to be one of those. Once you let go of that expectation, it is really quite clever and entertaining.
