The Boys: Herogasm (2022)
DIABOLICAL
This episode was insane! The acting and emotions of MM and Homelander... That fight scene... incredible television. The floodgates have finally been opened and it's anyones guess where it goes from here.
The Batman (2022)
Good, but a little overrated
My personal opinion:
I liked it. For starters, the dark, gritty mood was awesome. Artistically the movie was incredible. Great music, the action sequences were good. And that cinematography was on point, so many cool shots and scenes. I personally loved the cast, I thought Pattinson and Zoe really nailed their roles... Jeffrey Wright was solid. I wish we would've gotten more Serkis as Alfred, he was perfect. Dano was insane and creepy as Riddler, but really Turturro and Farrell stole the show for me as Falcone and Penguin.
The negatives:
Too long. I don't mind long movies, but this one kinda dragged along during some parts of the second half. Then that ending... for a movie that was grounded in realism for the majority, it really forced a doomsday-destroy-the-city kinda feel there at the end that I wasn't a fan of. One last psychological twist would've been much better.
Overall the movie was good, I really liked it, but I wish it would've flowed a little better that second half.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Yikes
Sometimes a film meets all expectations you have going in...
And sometimes, it meets every fear.
-Bringing characters back that had no business being alive? Check.
-Recasting some characters with new actors that could never capture the character the way the original did? Check.
-Plot that made absolutely no sense? Check.
-Making all the significant events/battles/plots/sacrifices of the prior movies irrelevant to make this sequel seem justified? Check.
-Breaking all the prior established rules of The Matrix and creating new ones? Check.
-Somehow making action sequences and special effects look worse than 20 years ago? Check.
Absolutely terrible. Embarrassing and insulting to be claimed under the same name and franchise as the original film.
The Wire: Clarifications (2008)
Disaster strikes
I haven't enjoyed this season nearly as much as the prior ones. But I reserved judgement, because in prior seasons I had similar concerns, but the story always managed to work back together and become relevant and enjoyable. But I've lost hope for this finale after this episode.
I've seen comments and discussions saying Omar's death was good writing because The Wire is a realistic show and doesn't need to be dramatic and climactic. I disagree wholeheartedly. If that's your logic then let me remind you, this season is being driven by A FAKE SERIAL KILLER INVENTED BY THE POLICE. That isn't realistic in any way shape or form. It's dramatic and over the top. So we really couldn't get some drama for Omar? We couldn't have him go down in a gunfight with Marlo and crew? Stringer Bell gets a dramatic and intense death scene, but Omar gets capped 10 minutes into an episode by a kid? No.
I understand this isn't like other shows. It's never been about dramatic battles, sacrifices, heroes, or any other cliche. But Omar deserved better.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
WOW
WOW! What an amazing and intense ride. A very ambitious follow up to The Dark Knight and it is crafted beautifully. The directing, acting, cinematography, and production are on point. The music is incredible. The action sequences thrilling. And to top it all off, one the greatest endings to any film EVER
Dejimon Adobenchâ (1999)
Really solid show
Digimon Adventure really is a great show. One of my favorites as a kid, I now revisit it as an adult and it definitely stands the test of time!
The show does an excellent job of character development, character designs, action scenes, and adding the element of real world consequences. Each of the kids deal with their own insecurities, which they learn to overcome in order to help themselves and their friends, typically helped out by their individual Digimon partners. The Digimon all have really cool designs. The actions sequences, while nothing spectacular are interesting and fun to watch, especially as the Digimon evolutions grow further. By adding real world consequences, the show helps us feel the danger and intensity of what's happening, making it much more exciting.
Not without its flaws of course. Early on, the first 10 episodes get a bit repetitive. At times, the show can be dull and immature, which is to be expected of a kids show.
Overall, a great ride that makes you feel like a kid again!
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Jesse needed this
Seeing a lot of reviews that say this movie added nothing to the series has compelled me to write my own.
Am I the only one who cares about Jesse? He was always the most lovable and relatable character to me (not detracting from the perfection of Walt's character and portrayal). But one complaint I had from the original series was not knowing how Jesse's story ended. This movie answered that in a well thought out and believable manner.
Another complaint I'm seeing is that this movie is boring. I seem to recall being quite bored during some episodes from the show. Any major twists and turns, or heart pounding action would have just felt forced. The reason those were so impactful in the original series was because they took time to draw out. This movie successfully avoided forcing in too much fan service and was loyal to the tone of the series.
All in all, I found this movie genuinely enjoyable even without the stunning action and twists. As a fan, I always hoped Jesse would find a better life, and I really enjoyed seeing him get the happy ending he deserved.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Perfection
This movie was perfect. I'm literally in shock and awe as to how this movie wrapped up 22 movies so perfectly and how all-encompassing it was. The greatest cinematic event of my time. All that's left to say is thank you for the ride MCU.
The Avengers (2012)
Amazing
This movie is amazing. Coming in with all the hype and expectations that it had, and still managing to exceed them. I will never forget the awe I was in when I saw this movie on its opening weekend. The simple yet exciting story, the comedic relief, and the action sequences make this the golden standard for all super hero movies!
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
I just don't understand
Maybe I just don't understand British humor... but this movie is not funny. In fact, it's not good in any way, shape, or form. The fact that this is an 8.3/10 literally blows my mind. If you've never seen this movie you aren't missing out on anything. I acknowledge that it's a classic, nostalgic for some, you have to understand the humor, etc. But it's a TERRIBLE movie. If you've never seen it, save yourself the 90 minutes and pass on this one.
