every movie should be like this - Almost Perfect
24 June 2011
Nothing better than boobies and weed at the same time and this movie gives your a bunch of both.

Imagine a world where all the girls want to sleep with you and you also get to smoke all the weed you want .....PARADISE THIS is not just a movie.....it's an inspirational even. a documentary about the way things ought to be

Gimmie this as an excellent all inspiring life changing movie.

best if you smoke a J-bird first and then spend the rest of the movie masturbating at all of the naked hotties that are going to make you hard as a rock.

God Bless Hollywood

Not Bad .....Not Great, but Not Bad
23 June 2011
I am a huge fan of D.C. Comics. I was excited to learned last year learn that this movie was being made. I waited a year in anticipation for this film. ...AND THEN i SAW IT AND ...... DENKKK! ! ! !

It isn't horrible, but it could've and should've been soooo much better. First off, the orchestral music soundtrack stinks...Where is John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith when you need them) 2nd, It is too short...I would have liked to seen the Green Lantern doing random stuff such as stopping a bank robbery, putting out a fire, stopping someone from going over a waterfall in a canoe...stuff like that. But we don't get it. We have the one scene where he reveals himself after he saves a helicopter from crashing...and then he doesn't do anything else until he fights Parallax. 3RD, we don't really get to know the villain, we see him kill three alien astronauts at the beginning of the film, and little else. 4th, Way too much Computer Animation.....don't need to say more

best superhero movies ever made Superman(1978) Superman II(1981) Spiderman(2002) Spiderman 2(2004)The Dark Night(2008) Ironman(2008) Watchmen(2009)

Worst Superhero movies ever made Supergirl(1984) Superman IV:The Quest for Peace(1987) Batman & Robin(1997) Hulk(2003)

Green Lantern falls in that category of Good but not great.like Spiderman 3(2007) Fantastic 4(2005)Incredible Hulk(2008)

The Dukes (1983)

in a way this proves to be the era of the Advertisement Cartoons
4 May 2007
in a way this proves that in the 1980's cartoons were not about substance and creativity, but were instead used as tools to sell merchandise(toys) to youngsters (or were used to promote another TV show or movie) and there were even entire cartoons based on video games. It seemed that every 1980's cartoon that was introduced to our kids was trying to sell or promote something else.

I remember in the mid 1970s seeing animated version of Star Trek and thinking that it was cool. But I didn'realize was that the Star Trek cartoon was the beginning of a new trend. The trend was to take a popular TV show and reinvent it as a Saturday morning cartoon.

"The Dukes" as the cartoon was titled wasn't all that bad. but it wasn't all that good either. It wasn't the only prime time driven cartoon out there in the mid 80's ..there was also Mr. T, The Real Ghostbusters, Rambo:The Animated Series, Hulk Hogan's WWF wrestlers(yes they too had their own 1980's cartoon), and lets not forget that George Lucas gave us "Driods & Ewoks" .all of these cartoons were based on other T.V. shows (Or Movies).and none of them proved to have any real staying power and were gone as quickly as they appeared. .

then there were the 1980's toy commercials cartoons, these were cartoons that only had one purpose and that was to sell more toys and the toy makers used the cartoon to promote their products. examples... G.I. Joe:Real American Hero, He-Man & The Masters of the Universe, Dungons and Dragons, Transformers the series, Captain Power, Teenage Mutant Nija Turltes And then in the mid 80's came the video game based cartoons such as Pac-Man, Q-bert and others. ...I can still remember that they had a prime time Pac-Man Christmas special. .

Just a side note........I actually did like the G.I Joe & Star Trek Cartoons.

but it seemed that ever 1980's cartoon that came on our tube was about something else other than just being a fun and entertaining.

I believe that is why the classic Disney(Mickey Mouse) and Warner Brother(Bugs Bunny) cartoons are so good and never go out of style. Those classic Cartoons are not trying to make us buy the latest fad, there not trying to get us to watch another TV show, there not trying to get us to play a video game...no...those classics are just fun and entertaining. And that why they never go out of style.

The Van (1977)
4/10
we made love in my Chevy van, and that alright with me
5 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The title song for this movie ...........is the greatest free spirited ballad ever written! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I first saw this movie back in 1978-79 when I first subscribed to cable. In 1979 cable was just starting to become common place in homes. (or at least that when it was becoming common here in Missouri).

This might very well be the first movie I ever watched on the pay channel called "The Movie Channel" - which was called "The Star Channel" back then, they changed the name to "The Movie Channel" in the early 1980's........I received a free month of "The Star Channel" with my new cable subscription. "The Van" was one of the movies that was in heavy rotation on that network at that time.

I remember watching this movie back then, and thinking it was a typical teen flick(along the same lines as other medium budget teen flicks) ...the ones where the plot revolves around nudity and parties.

I totally forgot that this movie even existed until I recently seen this movie again after having not seeing it for decades( I found a copy of it on DVD for sale in cheap bin) I recognized it, and bought it for a mere $4.99.

Seems like I had remembered this film being much better that it was(is). However watching it back then was a different experience than watching now(30+ years later).

It was fun to see the kids listing to rock n roll music, smoking weed, and having sex in the back a fancy van(often all at the same time). This is what a good teen party movie should be.

There isn't much of a plot other than the fact that the main character fantasizes about having sex with his arch rivals good looking girlfriend ...he blows all of his college savings money to purchase a tricked out Dodge Van(with shag carpet walls . mirrored ceiling and a water bed in it)to get her attention, and he eventually gets to have sex with her. But his arch rival finds out and comes looking for him (so that the two of them can settle their differences by drag racing their vans)....he and his arch rival end up wrecking both of their vans, and instead of stealing away his arch rivals girlfriend, he wins over the heart of a preppy(lesser attractive) girl that he half/ass dates through most of the movie and he decides he is happier/better off and the movie ends.

the movie does have it's funny moments. But watching this movie 30+ years later, it becomes more of a trip down memory lane. Because I still can remember Pizza parlors, pinball arcades, It also brought back memories of cruising around a small town while we smoked pot as we would yell at good looking girls and hoping to get laid (sometimes I'd get lucky and get some decent looking girl to share a joint with me and we'd screw in the backseat afterwords, I also remember many of the songs in this move(when they were new)......this movie serves as a perfect time capsule for that era in those regards (brought back lots of memories)

the one thing that is depicted in this movie that I honestly can not remember is ....I never remember a time when full sized vans were as popular as this film depicts them as being. I remember that era very well, and I don't young men going around wishing they had a van. Instead I remember young men in the 70's (self included) wanting a Pontiac Trans Am, Chevy Camaro or a hot rod Ford Mustang, but never a van. This movie makes it appear as if vans were most popular item going and that every young man wanted one(which just wasn't true of that era)

Alice at his best
4 February 2007
I own only a couple of Live concert on video. But this is a must have for anyone who loves hard rock, glam and of course Alice.

I remember seeing this for free on TV as part of a MTV Halloween weekend(i Believe IT WAS 1986 OR 1987) I was only 14 or 15 years old at the time and I knew little about Alice Cooper. In fact all I knew about him was that he was a man with a woman's first name, and that he had been popular in the 1970's, and that he had a wild/wicked persona, and that he sang a song called "Welcome to my Nightmare" aside from that I knew nothing else.

I was surprised as I watched that concert to learn that I knew a couple more of the songs like "Schools Out" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" - I had just never knew who sang them.

However being a teenager of the 1980's, I was already familiar with other (more MTV oriented) hard rock bands that had (by that time) begun to dominate the pop music scene. Bands and artist like Billy Idol, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Ratt, Twisted Sister and Bon Jovi were at their zenith. and being a teenager of the times I loved those hard rock bands, and thought I'd watch this old school hard rocker named Alice Cooper perform....... and WOW! I was blown away by the Mtv concert (which was released on home video under the title "The Nightmare Returns") Not only did this old guy named Alice Cooper put on a show that was equal to his younger 1980's contemporaries, he blew them away. He put on a great show, the music was great. the visuals were memorable. I went the very next week and purchased a copy of the album "Constrictor" (which was the album that this tour was promoting).Constrictor became one of my most listened to album for the rest of my teen years......

now 21 years later I still own a copy of this concert. It is my 2nd most watched concert video that I have ever owned. ((the only one I've watched more is KISS' Mtv Unplugged))

Masters of the Universe -The Movie
26 January 2007
This movie that was based on a popular children's cartoon from the 1980's. However...the cartoon itself was based on a toy line from Mattel.

In other words it's Star Wars in reverse.... Instead of Action figure dolls inspired by movie characters.....It is a movie inspired by action figure dolls. (okay- get it now) Oddly enough, it isn't a bad movie. It's actually half-way good. I would have like to have seen more character development, and I would have liked to have seen more action. But it really has it's moments.

I recommend this movie to anyone with kids, or just wants to watch a good movie

why do so many people hate this film????????
26 January 2007
Why do so many hate this film. It's a lovable film

It's very entertaining, very funny. It's good clean humor that you can let your kids watch. That scene where Sly attempts to play the song "Devil with a blue dress on" while shouting and yelling as he pounds on his organ...only to look through the window and discovers that he had just interrupted a funeral......that is one the funniest moments in movie history.

I also loved the scene at the beginning of the movie when a new singer auditions for a job at Freddy's night club by singing a song he had written called "The Day My Baby Died" ...the songs starts out okay, and even sounds like a good country song, until midways through the song when the lyrics start telling a story of how his new bride died when she left him at the alter to go plow the fields, and then her wedding dress got caught in the wheels of their John Deere tractor and dragged her down and ran over her... the song is hilarious......

I recommend this movie , its good clean fun.

some of the jokes in this film were inspired by real life events. Example: When the singer at the beginning of the movie first enter on stage, he is heckled by member of the audience. After being heckled the sing looks down at the heckler from the stage and says "Hey, Shut Up" and then lifts up the microphone stand and bends it in half.... that scene was loosely inspired by a real life incident that took place in 1968 where a up and coming singing cowboy named Waylon Jennings was scheduled to play a music festival in New York City. Waylon was the only non-rock (hippie era) musician in the entire show. When Waylon got on stage, he was heckled by a member of the audience who yelled "Take your cowboy sh!t back to Nashville" ... Waylon became outraged that this man was heckling him before he had even heard him play....so Waylon bent the microphone stand in half, threw it down and then pointed at the heckler and threaten to get off stage and kick his a** if he heard another peep out of him. - years later Waylon Jenning went on to become one of the most popular country & western singers ever.

Other jokes in this film were also based on real life story accounts of various country music singers.

MetalStorm
19 January 2007
I saw this movie back in the mid 1980's on HBO. I never remember it ever showing in the theaters here in Missouri (and it probably didn't). In fact I never heard of this movie until HBO started showing in rotation sometime around 1985. The HBO previews combined with the Title, gave me the preconceived notion that this film was going to something similar to the Road Warrior chalked full of Quiet Riot/Twisted Sister style Heavy Metal music(and maybe some 3D nudity & 3D violence to accompany the heavy metal music). . . . . . . . . . . . And of Course it turned out to be none of that! ! ! ! ! !

The Producers and Studio would've both been far-far better off to have made the Heavy Metal music fest/nudity filled /voilent road warrior style film that I had imagined that I was going to see.

Never judge a book by its cover, and never set you movie expectations based on the title.(because this one will mislead you).

Instead I got a movie that I didn't understand. The plot was simple. -- there have been several reviews where people wrote that this movie didn't have a plot ...well, the truth is that it does, and it's a good plot. The main character was a ranger in a post nuclear waste lands who befriends a girl (Kelly Preston) who watches her father murdered by a green man with a mechanical arm (Richard Moll) and together they set out to bring justice to a a cult leader named Jared Synn. The problem with this movie isn't the plot, it has a good plot, the real problem with this movie is that they just didn't do anything with the plot. The characters are underdeveloped, the acting is poor(very poor), the special effects are about in the same category as a Japanese sci-fi TV shows.

The only really good thing I can say about this movie is that it does have a decent music score.

Space Hunter : Adventures in the Forbidden Zone
19 January 2007
Believe it or not this film was released as the same time as "Return of the Jedi" and was shown alongside Jedi at most major movie houses across the country. The studio execs knew it didn't have a chance against "Jedi" so the 3D effects and the release date were primarily a marketing tool to lure you into their movie after "Jedi" had sold out.

Another 3D sci-fi film from 1983 was also released during the Theatrical run of "Jedi", it was Called "MetalStorm: The Destruction of Jared Syn" the producers of that film to were also hoping to make a fast buck hoping that audiences who were coming to the movie house to see"Jedi" would see their film after "Jedi" had sold out - again using 3D effects as a lure.

both mid-to-low budget sci-fi films(both filmed in 3D) ...SpaceHunter:Adventures in the Forbidden Zone & MetalStorm:The Destruction of Jared Syn were both financial flops. And they are forever linked together in their producers quest to make a fast buck hoping that audiences would stroll into their film after "Jedi" sold out.... However they are both fun to watch. Space Hunter is far away the better of the 2 films

Last Stand at Saber River (1997 TV Movie)
Last Stand at Saber River
29 August 2006
WOW this is a good movie. Tom Selleck joined forces with Turner Pictures for 3 westerns. and all 3 of them are superb. this was the first of the 3 (Crossfire Trail, Monte Walsh).

this has a great plot as Selleck's character, a former confederate soldier returns home and things are what they should be. And he has to put his life back to gether.

I also loved the scenery and the attention to detail. It's not your typical shoot'em up bang bang western. the plot is good the background music is good, its all good

great movie!

One of my favorite movies of all time
29 August 2006
This one has it all, great story, great music, awesome cinematography, loveley scenery and Kathleen Turner never looked better.

This looked like a chick flick, but its not.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Its funny, it's action packed. it has everything a great should.

Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) is a romance novelist in New York. She recently heard that her sister Elaine's husband was killed in Colombia, and Elaine is still there. One day, after receiving a yet-unopened package from Elaine's husband, she comes home to find her apartment trashed. Then Elaine calls and tells her that she's been held hostage and the people holding her want a map sent to Joan. Joan opens the package, and sees that she does in fact have the map, and knows she must now go to Colombia to give it to the captors and save her sister. But when she gets off the airplane, and is to take the bus to Cartagena, where she's headed, she gets on the wrong bus and ends up in the jungle. A police officer that has been tracking her (and trashed her apartment) knows she has the map and tries to take the map from her, but just then, Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) shows up and chases the cop off. After that, the two team up to cross the jungle and get to Cartagena, meanwhile being pursued by Ralph (Danny DeVito), who works for the men holding Elaine hostage.

This really is a great movie. It's funny, but not too much of comedy to ruin the action or the romance. Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas, and Danny DeVito are all very impressive in their roles, and DeVito is absolutely hysterical. The action and adventure is exciting, with enough shoot-outs, chase scenes, and more to keep anyone's attention. The romance between Turner and Douglas is plausible and doesn't slow much down, and the climax ends the movie perfectly.

there is a sequel called "Jewel of the Nile" but it isn't up to the same standard that "Romancing the Stone" set.

I was Blown away by this film
28 August 2006
I was blown away by this movie. My wife rented it and I must admit that when I saw that it was a direct to Video (made for TV)MOVIE, I did really want to watch it. Especially when I seen Rick Schroder on the cover box.

I was pleasantly surprised. This movie doesn't waste a single moment. It's thought provoking, very well written, and very well acted. I watched it twice in the 2 days we had it rented, and when I took it back I purchased my own copy of it. I have watched it several times since. This movie immediately joined Gettysburg as one of my most favorite best movies ever made.

Hollywood never makes any WWI movies, so this was a real treat. I loved the characters in it. I loved the way that the director made use of all of the World War I scenery, and the images(like the old airplane that flies over head, the old 1910's era army truck...they must've spent a fortune filming this.

This movie should have been a theatrical release instead of a made for TV/Direct to Video. I would've gladly paid top $$$ to have got to see this on the BIG screen.

My only single complaint is at the very end of the movie when the High ranking officer just drives up to the battle in his car. But...maybe that really happened like that (I don't know that it didn't) - but that just seems a little absurd to me.

Budweiser Created a Monster. And they call me Drinkin-stien. Oh Hell Yes, I'm A Cardinals Fan!

This a One of Kind Civil War movie
28 August 2006
This a One of Kind Civil War movie Firt let me say that Virginia Madsen never looked as Beautiful as she does in this movie.

But this is the only Civil War movie that I've seen that deals with the naval battles. I think that this movie is very well crafted, and the cinematographic is wonderful. My only complaint about this movie is the dialog. At times the dialog is down right silly. However the actors do a great job with their roles The battle scenes are very well done.

If you are a history buff.. you will absolutely love this movie. It has no boring parts. Its just good. I hope someday it will be released on DVD, because my VHS copy is starting to show signs of wear and tear

Its not the greatest, but it does have its own place
27 August 2006
I never saw roots, I never saw the Thorn birds, I never saw SHOGUN ... nope ...This was the first ever mini series I watched in my life. It and was the first ever Civil War movie I ever watched in my life. I man did I pick a great first one to watch.

I am 37 years old now, and to this day I still own a copy of the 3 disc DVD set. I get it out at least once a year and watch it. And I still love it to this day. Yes, I have seen better mini-series since then(Lonesome Dove, Horatio Hornblower)...and I've even seen better Civil War movies (Gettysburg, Glory) but this movie still holds a very special place in my heart When I go back and watch this film, I am amazed at how well it has held up against the test of time. (sure the sounds effects aren't up to par with today's super bass driven home theater sound systems) – But the rest of the movie has held up superbly.

And in the years that have passed, I eventually did go back and watch Roots.... Although I still haven't seen the Thorn birds (don't really think I want too though) I am saddened by the fact that there aren't more films like this one being produced these days.

I really recommend this movie to anyone who like Long drawn out storyline (and there is nothing wrong with that) Good battle scenes. My only complaint is that I wish the producers would go back and remaster the sound quality

One Great thrill ride
12 July 2006
I remember going to see this in the theaters 4 times when i first came out (can you believe its been 10years ago) ...and Not since the original Star Wars trilogy had a movie rocked my world the way that this one did.

This wasn't a movie...it is a roller coaster experience! I loved everything about this movie, the acting, the story, the original score...oh and did I mention the special effects! WOW! no movie in history had better special effects than this one (although I'll admit that the Jurassic Park movies give it a damn good run for the money) 10 years later and it still holds up as possibly the greatest effects movie ever.

this is a great great movie, its one that I own on both VHS & DVD. Its one that I get out and watch at least once a year. This is a true classic

This is proof that that not all box office flops are bad
12 July 2006
this movie was a box office flop I cannot imagine why?. It has a great story, wonderful stunts. Good costumes, it is well acted. The original score is beautiful to listen too. The scenery is magnificent. ...and the action is very fast paced.

If you like movies like the Indiana Jones series, the Zorro (Antonio Banderas era) movies, and Pirates of the Caribbean....then you should love Cuthroat Island.

The failure of this film at the box office is a mystery to me because it has all of the right punches to make it a success and yet it still failed. - I dunno why

I actually like that Daredevil movie too with Ben Afflec, I didn't understand why it flopped either. It wasn't the best movie ever but I thought it was decent.

but this just goes to prove a point, and that point is that sometimes great movies fall through the cracks and fail at the box office and then are soon forgotten, what a shame too.

don't rob yourself of the wonderful experience that is ..Cuthroat Island.

go see it today ...you'll thank me for it

Superman vs The St. Louis Assassin - Part 5
10 July 2006
awe ..finally...its here they finally made a worthy follow up to Superman III But Superman I(1978) & II(1981) are still in a class all to themselves.

If this same movie would have came out in 1987 and been called Superman IV (instead of that joke we got in 1987 called Superman IV:The Quest for Peace) then it is safe to say that the original series would continued on with at least 2 or 3 more Superman movies with Christopher Reeve.

but it didn't happen that way maybe I should just be thankful that Superman Returns was made at all. It is a worthy addition to the Superman movie series.(better later than never) I loved the fact that they used the old John Williams soundtrack, and I loved the way they paid homage to the original 1978 movie with the opening credits. This was a fun movie.

I hope that there is a sequel.

Superman vs St. Louis Assassin - part 4
10 July 2006
once again the acting is superb....well think good something was good about this film.

1st the good news....there is a wonderful scene where superman and Clark Kent are on a double date together with Lois lane and Meriel Hemingway. that scene is classic, smart, funny, cleverly written and very well done. - (again I cant praise the acting in these movies enough-even part 4 has good acting in it) now the bad news.... the Clark Kent/superman double date scene is the hightlight of the entire movie.

Nuclear man is so awful that its funny.

I could not believe how poor the special effect were on this film. This is the only one of the 4 Superman movies where you can actually see his cables holding him up.

the only thing worst than the special effects was the laughable script. C'mon...I could not believe my eyes when superman and Nuclear man were carrying Mariel Hemmingway around in outer space with no space suit on her (and yet she is okay)...not to mention the cartoonish action sequences (like the one where Superman stops a volcano by cutting a mountain in half with his X-ray/heat vision and plugs the top half of the mountain into volcano's mouth....which in reality would have only created more volcanic back pressure and would have only caused a much larger more violent eruption)

how did this franchise get here. the first 2 films were standard setters..true classics in their own time, and although the 3rd film isn't in the same class as the first 2, the 3rd film is still very good..but Superman 4 leaves you scratching you head and asking yourself WHAT HAPPENED?

Superman vs St. Louis Assassin -part 3
10 July 2006
this film is not at all as bad as some people would have you to believe it is.

Once again the acting is superb (the acting was great in all 4 of these movies-even when the scripts aren't) I have a good time with this film every time I see it.

It is the only Superman movie that doesn't open with John Williams awesome soundtrack. It's also the only one of the 4 movies where Superman fails to go to the fortress of solitude. It is also the only one without Lex Luther. ......so yes it was a departure from the first 2 films. this movie had far more comic relief in it. Richard Pryor done an outstanding job in this movie.

yes I will admit that parts 1 and 2 are much better films than part 3.

this is a good movie and curses to those who slam it. this is a fun movie.

Superman vs The St. Louis Assassin -Part 2
10 July 2006
Superman II is as good as Superman I. -period! This movie is great on many levels. What is so amazing about this movie is that it was filmed in 1979/1980 and those special effect still hold up (even by todays standards).

The great John Williams sound track is back too (actually he didn't record any music for this- they re-edited the music he recorded for the first film...none the less it still sounds great I knew when I seen those 3 villains vanquished into the phantom zone in the first film that they were going to show up again....and I was right.

this film is fun. Lois figures out that Clark is Superman. Then Clark kisses her at the end of the movie and erases her memory.

even the Niagra Falls stuff is fun to watch. this movie is like being a kid again.

once again the acting is superb. Great story....great movie

Superman VS. The St. Louis Assassin - part 1
9 July 2006
this is hands down the greatest super hero movie ever made. You follow Kal-El all the way from the destruction of Krypton to his rise as the iconic fame as the man of steel(superman).

No superhero film ever made before or since has even came remotely close to the standards set by this film. The acting is so superb in this film. Every actor gives a command performance.

I hold this film in my heart as not only the best superhero film ever made, but as one of the best films ever made in any genre.

at least once a year I have to drag out my old VHS copy of this movie and watch it again. and as I watch Jor-El, The Kents, Lois, Jimmy Olson, Perry White, Otis, Lex Luthor and of course Superman it almost feels like I am greeting an old friend.

Even the John Williams movie soundtrack is totally awesome! Fantastic Four, X-Men,HULK,DareDevil,Batman,Spiderman and Supergirl ...yes there have been other great superhero movies (and some of those weren't so great)...but none of those movies can hold a candle to the 1978 SUPERMAN:THE MOVIE.

I have to slam all of the folks who are slamming this movie. I thought they did a good job with this film. It was actually better than I expected it to be (I'm hoping for a sequel). It had great special effects. Jessica Alba is sooooooooo sexy(and we get to see her in her underwear soaking wet-hallelujah). I thought the cast was great, story was good, the special effects were good, and the soundtrack was even good. Movies like this one are supposed to to be entertaining, and this one is!

To all those folks complaining about this good movie- what were you expecting? it isn't philosophy class,or a life changing spiritual experience, or a cosmic experience that alters your conscience perception? It's a movie based on a comic book/cartoon, its supposed to entertain you! and thats all! lighten up a bit, enjoy things for what they are. and get a life.

Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009)
wait just a frakken minute
31 March 2006
***I hope and prey the producers of this show read my commentary***

I was a fan of the original 1978 Battlestar, but I will admit that in the original series I always found it uneasy the way that the cylons were able to destroy all 12 of mankinds home worlds, I mean c'mon man... you really expected me to believe that not one of those 12 planets had a single military base or defense satellites (or at least something?) NOW Enter the 2000's Battlestar has been redone, this time its smarter. They corrected all of the mistakes and fixed all of the plot hole that existed in the original show. OR, AT LEAST THATS THE GOOD NEWS NOW THE BAD NEWS with the remake they opened up all new plot holes and made all new mistakes. The epic space battles that we have all come to know and love from the original series are far and few between (most episodes have none). The Cylons are robotic humanoid clones (i guess the special effects are cheaper that way). This show leans itself to heavily on fictional politics of the colonial presidency and it tries to hard to build to much suspense on these fictional political matters (like we really care- someone forgot that it is a sci-fi action adventure show) meanwhile I must compliment the special effects on this show (they truly are first rate) but I must also complain about the lack of action, and total lack of sound effects.(there is nothing spectacular about watching a silent explain in space)- I want to hear it too! I believe that this show has the potential to replace Star Trek:The Next Generation as the great sci-fi TV show ever (oh yea, the potential is there)....but for some reason this feels more like "The West Wing" in space because almost every episode that I've seen has been centered around the president and all of the political under dealings and so on. Ans this leaves the show empty. HOW CAN I SAY THIS..... Its like tuning it to see action packed gunslingers in space and getting a over-suspended political drama instead....granted its not horrible but its definitely not what I wanted to see when I tuned in.

Can you say remake
29 March 2006
this is one of the greatest films ever made PERIOD! It's a movie that everyone has seen at least 5 times or more. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT is without any equals or rivals when it is referred to as the greatest car chase film ever. Who hasn't watched this film and fantisized about driving a T-top 1977 Pontiac Trans Am fast down a Highway/Interstate.

The only thing wrong with this film is that after 30 years it finally looks dated. (unlike a previous writer who wrote ****I hope they never do a remake*** I disagree. I think its time for a remake.

but who would you cast in the remake, Well I have that answer too.

Bo(the Bandit)Darble - George Clooney ....he's a good looking ladies man, and has that mischievous smile(perfect choice (Snowman)Cletus Snow - Drew Carrey ....at first you "no way" at my choice to hire Drew Carrey as Cletus snow, but once the makeup team give him a redneck trucker makeover, he'll be perfect, especially you you consider his comedic talents and all of his hilarious facial expressions, and the fact that he'd be spending most of the movie in a 18wheeler with a basset hound in the cabin with him ( go on- admit it-drew would be great in that role) (Frog)Carrie - Courtney Cox...do I really need to explain why on this one? ......I didn't think so Buford T. Justice - Tim Allen (((This is perhaps the hardest role to fill...but I believe Tim could do it Junior Justaice - Mike Myers, I can already hear Mike myers saying "Oh yes daddy" Big Enos Burdette - Sylvester Stallone Little Enos - Body builder midget that looks like Sly Stallone so what do ya think?????

why bother
27 March 2006
this was on PBS here is St Louis last week, and oh my god was it ever so terrible. I hated it. The cameras are filterless and it has the look of an American style soap opera (minus the juicy story lines and the sex).

However the costumes worn by the actors looked chronologically correct. .....but that is all the good that I am going to say about this movie.

it sucked, I mean it really sucked.

there is almost no background music, the acting godawful. You could watch the actors glance up at the camera from time to time. And there is almost zero backgraound music(almost none).

and as for the storyline......so let me get this right....if you got shell shock in World War I, and you forget your idenity, then it becomes your free ticket to start screwing your nurses??? - Oh my God please!...and hell, they didn't even show the sex scenes (it was implied)..gimmie a break!

if it weren't for the camera lighting and the close sets, you would've almost had a feeling that you were watching a home video of a play. ........yes its true.

don't watch this movie. its awful. It makes me wish I had shell shock so I could forget this bastard of a film.
