All people are divided into two categories: the ones who hate horrors and never watch them, and the ones who find them quite entertaining and never miss a new one. It’s only natural that people have different preferences, but with horrors it’s just something different, because you’ll never persuade a hater to watch even a slightly scary movie.
It goes without saying that psychological horror is much scarier than a simple slasher, but when you mix the two subgenres together, you end up with something that will either kill you emotionally or raise your blood pressure with adrenaline.
In 2012 Franck Khalfoun directed a psychological slasher movie named Maniac, which was actually a remake of the 80s movie with the exact same name. The new movie featured Elijah Wood and Nora Arnezeder as the main characters.

The Count Of Monte-Cristo Photo: Fantasia International Film Festival
Cannes hit The Count Of Monte-Cristo is to screen at Fantasia next month, it was announced today. Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte enjoyed a 12 minute ovation at the French festival, and the work of Alexandre Dumas is hot stuff in North America following the recent success of Martin Borboulon's Three Musketeers adaptations - but this is just one entry in an exciting second wave line-up.
Other films in the selection announced today include Carl Joseph Papa's powerful animated exploration of trauma The Missing, Alice Maio Mackay's freewheeling Carnage For Christmas (which is edited by The People's Joker's Vera Drew), and South By Southwest shocker Kryptic, whose director Kourtney Roy told us she was very much in it for the monsters.

The second wave of titles have just been announced for this year's edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival and of course there are some doozies in the mix. First off, Ant Timpson's Bookworm, starring Elijah Wood and Nell Fisher will have its world premiere when it opens the fesitval this year. It looks absolutely delightful and fun. Japanese anime Mononoke The Movie: The Phantom in the Rain, werewolf movie The Beast Within, starring Kit Harington, the coming-of-age horror flick Parvulos from our friend in Mexico, Isaac Ezban, Canadian gore horror Scare Shitless! directed by Vivieno Caldinelli featuring practical effects by Steven Kostanski, Protuguese grass-roots horror flick The Old Man and the Demon Sword, and underground micro-budget story about a relationship, Me And My...

Our TV choices say a lot about our personalities. If we only watch analytical docudramas or super historically accurate shows, it probably means that we use these series to learn about something and try not to waste our time on meaningless stuff. But is it really bad to binge bizarre shows?
Of course, documentaries can be riveting, but sometimes you just need something to turn your brain off and help you relax. We think the best shows to give you that feeling are the weird comedies (sometimes with a little pinch of supernatural thrown in).
Resident Alien is the perfect example of a show that is both lighthearted and easy to watch, but also extremely interesting in its storytelling and with complex characters worth following.
So if you liked that show, these 5 will be to your taste as well.

King’s message was brief: “Awfully sorry to hear that Scott Wampler has died.”

Scott Wampler, a co-host on the Stephen King-centric podcast The Kingcast, has sadly passed away. Wampler’s expertise, delivery and chemistry with Eric Vespe was some of the finest in dual-hosted entertainment podcasts, only highlighting the massive loss.
As Vespe posted on social media, “Scott Wampler passed away today. He was my friend, co-host, and partner in crime. I’m still in shock. I don’t know many details, but I know it was sudden and he was with friends.” He added, “I don’t know what to say right now other than he was a singular presence. Hunter Thompson would have called him ‘one of God’s own prototypes, a high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.’ That’s the Scott I knew. Hilarious, infuriating, singular.”

Corey Feldman’s cult classic feature is finally hitting the big screen.
Feldman stars in 2004 film “The Birthday,” directed by Eugenio Mira. The feature made its world premiere at the Sitges International Film Festival in 2004 but was essentially lost and never viewed in theaters after its initial festival circuit tour.
Now, 20 years later, “The Birthday” is getting a 4K ultra high definition theatrical release from Drafthouse Films.

Twenty years later, I am beyond thrilled to finally herald, ‘The 4K restoration is coming out this year!'”

We know that Aragorn does not fear death, but does Viggo Mortensen fear returning to the role? Not one bit. With the announcement that another Lord of the Rings movie – in the form of The Hunt for Gollum – will be making that long trek to theaters, it’s hard not to wonder which of the original cast (other than Andy Serkis) will be returning for the film. With so little truly known about the film, there’s no reason not to imagine which of our fan favorite characters could have a spot. And if Viggo Mortensen has a say, he and Aragorn will wield Andúril yet again.
Speaking with British GQ, Viggo Mortensen admitted that he doesn’t know what’s planned for The Hunt for Gollum but is willing to return as Aragorn if it serves a purpose. “I don’t know exactly what the story is, I haven’t heard.

Theo James will star opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson in British heist thriller Fuze, a film that comes with an explosive twist.
Theo James is one of those actors who seems to keep earning plaudits whatever he features in and as such, he’s got a couple of promising film projects in the pipeline. Chief among them? A starring role in David Mackenzie’s upcoming British heist thriller, Fuze.
James most recently starred in The Gentlemen, the small screen spin-off (pictured) from Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film. Before that, the British actor picked up plenty of critical praise for an excellent take on ‘the character you love to hate’ in Mike White’s second season of The White Lotus, the anthology drama series that has been praised by critics and audiences alike.

One of George Miller's films, "Lorenzo's Oil," opens with an epigram reading as follows: "Life has meaning only in the struggle. Triumph or defeat is in the hands of the Gods ... so let us celebrate the struggle!" Celebrating the struggle may seem paradoxical in life or in cinema, but that concept runs through just about every one of Miller's films, created over the course of four decades. From post-apocalyptic action fantasies to deliriously twisted family fare, Miller has never been too boxed in with the films he's made. Through his filmography, George Miller has done everything from introducing one of cinema's biggest action stars to depicting a sea of penguins dancing to pop music. As weird as those extremes may be, it somehow all makes sense. With the arrival of Miller's latest entry in the "Mad Max" franchise, "Furiosa," in theaters now, let's rank all of Miller's films.

Hollywood is obviously hellbent on adapting every last one of Stephen King’s stories to big and small screens. The prolific author might find himself struggling to keep up with moviemakers at one point, drowning in Carrie remakes of varying quality… And if you think we’re kidding, you’re only halfway right, because we have some news.
Apparently, one of the least famous King stories is also making its way to the screen, and we’re honestly not sure if it even can be properly adapted — or if it should.
Another Obscure King Adaptation Emerges
Primarily known for his 2020 horror take on Gretel & Hansel, Osgood Perkins is ready to present his first attempt at adapting a Stephen King story. To the director’s honor, he chose quite an unknown and overlooked novella from the King of Horror’s vast library — his personal twist on the infamous “possessed doll” horror trope.

When a movie is as big as Crocodile Dundee, you better believe there will be a sequel. Audiences renting a VHS tape of the movie back in 1987 had a little introduction before the film, teasing the fact that a sequel was in the works, something all of us kids who grew up on this movie were psyched by.
So when the first one came out, Paul Hogan became a massive international star. He was already big in Australia, but before Crocodile Dundee, Hogan was mostly known for his ‘Shrimp on the Barbie’ Australian Tourism adverts. By 1987, he was so popular that he was one of the three hosts of the 1987 Academy Awards, opposite Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. Crocodile Dundee II would be a much bigger film than its predecessor. After all, this wasn’t a tiny Australian indie anymore. It was a big studio film, with Paramount Pictures, who distributed the first film,...

As far as individual authors go, Stephen King is certainly in the top of the list of authors whose works have been adapted. He is right there with Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other authors whose works have been adapted often and in many forms. But unlike the aforementioned authors, King’s adaptations are usually original, while the other authors have seen their works adapted and remade more than once. In light of that fact, we can confirm that King’s story, “The Monkey,” had been adapted into a film this spring and the movie was presented to buyers at Cannes this year!
Knowing how popular King’s adaptations are, it was a sure thing that someone would buy the movie, and as it happens, Neon managed to nab the distribution rights for the upcoming movie and they have confirmed that a 2025 release date is currently planned.

Buyers at the Cannes Market were going bananas for Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, with the bidding war eventually being won out by Neon. While no financial details were made available, Deadline reports that the studio is aiming for a 2025 release.
Filming on The Monkey – which was first published in 1980 and subsequently reprinted in the essential King short story collection Skeleton Crew – wrapped in March. Directed by Oz Perkins (son of Anthony and whose Longlegs is also being distributed by Neon), the movie is notably produced by James Wan and features a cast of Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Levy, Rohan Campbell, Christian Convery, and Colin O’Brien.
For those unfamiliar with Stephen King’s short story, The Monkey has the following plot: “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them.

Yellowjackets fans will be eating good soon as season 3 will be on its way to your screens with production officially starting. The third year of our favorite schoolgirls was one of the victims of a great delay due to the dual union strikes in Hollywood last year. However, there would be a bonus episode in between the second and third season that would whet viewers’ appetites before the true continuation occurred.
The official Yellowjackets account on social media has just dropped an announcement that filming on season 3 has officially taken off. The announcement is followed by some teaser photos of the camp with one picture showcasing the script for the premiere episode. The post reads, “We know you’re starving… #Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially in production.” Which is then followed by a clapperboard emoji and a bee yellowjacket emoji. You can view the photos below.

Showtime has taken to social media this afternoon to announce that “Yellowjackets” Season 3 is officially in production, and they’ve also shared behind the scenes photos from the set.
One of the photos reveals that the “Yellowjackets” Season 3 premiere was written by Jonathan Lisco & Ashley Lyle & Bart Nickerson, with Nickerson seated in the director’s chair.
Lyle & Nickerson created the hit series, while Lisco is the showrunner.
You can check out the social media announcement below.
It’s likely we’ll have to wait until 2025 for Season 3, but we had learned last June that a special bonus episode will come along before the new season premieres. So stay tuned for that.

Guillermo del Toro is renowned for the many masterpieces he has created. His artistic prowess has allowed a certain sense of faith that fans find themselves with because of the darker elements he is willing to tap into. As someone who has always found himself liking darker sketches and the scary side of things, exploring the gothic storylines isn’t something the director is afraid of.

Prequels and spin-offs were made and fans seemed to receive them all with great anticipation. However, one project, in particular, is yet to be looked at.

“Definitely the most challenging thing I’ve had to do thus far as an actor, a lot of mental gymnastics involved,” Jharrel Jerome admits about the uniqueness of his role in the Boots Riley-created absurdist series I’m A Virgo, on which he plays a previously extremely sheltered 13-foot-tall Oakland teen. “At no point do I look my scene partners in the eye, and as an actor that’s so critical, you know, as connection.”

When it was announced that Amazon was set to produce The Rings of Power, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, fans were ecstatic to revisit J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. But despite opening to a record 25 million viewership, the highest in the streaming platform’s history, the sentiment surrounding the new addition to the iconic IP was pretty mixed.
Despite winning over fans with its eye-popping visuals, with many deeming it a worthy addition to the iconic franchise, its naysayers accused the show of pushing a woke agenda. And with the trailer for Season 2 set to be unveiled soon, a similar discourse has popped up once again.

For the followers of the lore of Lord of the Rings, Elijah Wood aka Frodo Baggins was burdened with the responsibility to tend to the fate of Middle-earth and its occupants. It was a journey that traversed Tolkien’s landscape, charted territories unknown to man, and overcame hurdles that would have defeated even the bravest soldiers. To Wood’s hobbit, this journey entailed everything.

Adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings book series, Peter Jackson created one of the most epic film franchises that masterfully captures the source material’s immersive world and multi-layered characters. The film’s core has the timeless themes of heroism, battles against overwhelming evil, and an epic journey of human experience. The epic saga features one of the most chilling battle scenes in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, The Battle of Helm Deep.

However, things did not go well when Barrie Osborne was forced to share a message with the filmmaker when he was creating the legendary moment of the film. This resulted in Jackson bursting out in rage, as talking to the film’s executive over the film’s budget was the least significant task for him, at that point of time.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most celebrated works of fantasy and has been regarded as one of the greatest films ever. Director Peter Jackson spent years bringing to life a novel series that was considered to be unadaptable. The final film of the trilogy The Return of the King won eleven awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture.
Many actors in the fantasy trilogy have gone on to become stars. While lead actors such as Elijah Wood and Viggo Mortensen became synonymous with their roles as Frodo and Aragorn, other actors such as Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, and Andy Serkis saw new levels of stardom. Bloom, who would go on to star in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise reportedly received a very low salary for playing the role of Legolas in the trilogy.
