- Her youngest child, son Christopher Brinkman, was the original lead guitarist for the rock group Jane's Addiction (1985-1986). He died of a drug overdose in 1997.

- Crain, who starred in the original Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), passed away just 12 days before the release of the remake of the that film, Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), starring Steve Martin.
