Paul Apted, who worked as a sound editor on a string of films including “The Fault in Our Stars,” has died from complications of colon cancer, a close family friend confirmed to TheWrap. Born on Feb. 9, 1967, in Manchester, England, Apted was the son of director Michael Apted. Also read: Louis Zamperini, Inspiration for the Film ‘Unbroken,’ Dead at 97 The sound editor's recent film credits included “Prisoners” (2013), ”A Good Day to Die Hard” (2013) and “The Wolverine” (2013), according to his IMDb page. He also worked with his father on “Nell” (1994) and “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” (2010). Paul Apted.

Sad news for Hollywood today. Paul Apted, the sound editor on a long list of movies including most recently the Fox 2000 hit The Fault In Our Stars, has died. According to reports, he succumbed to colon cancer at age 47, which is just way too young. Apted is the son of director Michael Apted, and they worked together several times and most recently on Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. Paul Apted’s survivors include wife Gemma and two children, Thomas and Rose. Condolences to the family.

Paul Apted, a sound editor and son of British director Michael Apted who worked on studio blockbusters as well as smaller films for more than two decades, died Friday of colon cancer in Los Angeles, a family spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 47. In the past two years alone, Paul Apted worked on films including the Bruce Willis action sequel A Good Day to Die Hard; the X-Men spinoff The Wolverine; Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed thriller Prisoners; the World War II drama The Book Thief; and, most recently, the adaptation of the young adult novel The Fault in Our Stars.
