- The opera trained singer Cassie Cisyk was born in Queens, New York to Ukrainian parents. Apart from working on commercials, she also recorded with well known artists, but her love was Ukrainian music. Kvitka (which in Ukrainian means 'Flower') recorded only two albums, 'Kvitka' and 'Kvitka Two Colors', which catapulted her into the top ranks of contemporary popular Ukrainian singers, born outside the country. She succumbed to cancer five days before her 45th birthday.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Melodia
- Kvitka, or Kacey, came from a musical family. Her father was a solo violinist and her sister an accomplished pianist and professor of music. She studied violin in her early life, and studied voice at Harpur College (SUNY Binghamton) where her older sister, Maria, was a music professor. She later graduated from Mannes School of Music, NYC. She was a coloratura soprano, able to vocalize to A flat above C.
She attained her greatest success as a singer of commercial jingles: Have Youd Driven a Ford Lately? was the longest running jingle by a singer (17 years); You Deserve a Break Today at McDonalds and many more, nearly all for major corporations. The NY Times obituary opined that she may have been the most heard voice in America.
Most notably, she sang all the songs in "You Light Up My Life." Although given credit as an actor for a couple of scenes, she was given no credit for singing in the movie credits, and soon afterward Debbie Boone's debut album featured the title song (and others by the Director/Composer of the movie). Due to the similarity of their voices, most people believed Boone had sung in the movie, and she went on to capture a Grammy as Best New Artist, and the song was the Grammy winner. The later release of the soundtrack album did give her credit.
Sadly, Kacy passed away about five years after having her first child. She, her sister and her mother all succumbed to breast cancer. Her father had died circa 1971, after walking offstage during a violin recital.- IMDb Mini Biography By: jack ronner
