Former Trump White House aide Peter Navarro was sent to federal prison for obstructing Congress in its investigation of the violent Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. But once Navarro is out of prison, there are a couple things the former Trump White House aide should expect if his former boss wins the election: a pardon, and a new job.
Over the past several months, Donald Trump has told some of his advisers and friends that federal clemency for Navarro, if Trump is back in office, is a “very good idea,...

The total eclipse crossing the United States on Monday is more than a celestial marvel. According to Maga-minded “prophets” with dubious gifts of divination, the eclipse is a signal of God’s design for America, and another marker that former President Donald Trump is heaven’s “anointed” candidate.

Former President Donald Trump makes an appearance in a New York state courtroom to be arraigned on felony criminal charges on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News after one of its journalists erroneously said he was found legally liable for rape.
The comments were made by journalist George Stephanopolous during the March 10th episode of “This Week,” during which he repeatedly asked South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace to explain why she would support Trump despite a recently-decided civil trial that found him liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll.
During the interview, Stephanopolous repeatedly said a civil jury in New York state had found former President Trump “liable for rape,” though the actual case decided whether Trump was liable for sexual assault. A state judge overseeing the case later affirmed the outcome of the case did not hold Trump...

“Look at where we are right now,” states former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock of the divisions in America and the disinformation war that has reached an even higher pitch three years after the violent assault on the Capital. “About three weeks ago, polling said a fourth of Americans think that the FBI actually incited January 6.” the one-time presidential candidate says incredulously. “We have 171 election deniers in the House, a third of the overall members of Congress.”
To Bullock’s point on this day of the New Hampshire primary, polls also show that a significant swath of Americans are weary of a re-match between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Starring Bullock as a semi-fictional Potus, War Game, a film debuting right now at the Sundance Film Festival, worries about a possible and bloody consequence of a disputed 2024 election that could make January 6, 2021 look like a tame rehearsal.
“This isn’t some like idle.

Rhode Island’s Hall of Fame has been engulfed in controversy at the decision to add former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to its ranks. The decision has led to the resignation of several board members.
Flynn, who served for a mere 22 days as Nsa adviser before he departed in 2017 and subsequently faced criminal convictions, was selected to be inducted next year.
The Rhode Island Hall of Fame, established in 1965, aims to honor individuals who have made significant contributions or achieved renown through their work while they resided in the state. As reported by The New York Times, board members expressed their strong opposition to Flynn’s inclusion, and cited his promotion of conspiracy theories and denial of the election results.
The induction class of 2023 included notable figures such as Judge O. Rogeriee Thompson, the first black person and second woman to join the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit,...

On Sunday, Donald Trump posted to his social media platform, “Despite the Fake News reports to the contrary, and without even reaching out to ask the Trump Campaign, Ms. Powell Was Not My Attorney, And Never Was,” he wrote.
This declaration comes just days after Trump’s former lawyer, Sidney Powell, took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to criminal charges against her in Fulton County, Georgia.
The charges revolved around her involvement in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
In his post, Trump called Powell “one of millions and millions of people who thought … correctly, that the 2020 Presidential Election was Rigged & Stollen.”
Trump further claimed that Powell would have faced a conflict of interest if she had been his attorney.
Powell had previously represented General Michael Flynn, who served as Trump’s National Security Adviser and pleaded guilty to lying about his contacts with Russia in the...

The office of House Speaker is officially empty, and the Republican Party is in a state of chaos.
On Tuesday, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) became the first House Speaker ever to be fired from the position. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) brought a motion to oust him on Monday, and then he and seven other Republicans voted to ditch the California congressman a day later. The rest of the party was not happy, and in some cases visibly distraught, after the GOP left itself with no leader and no clear path forward.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and five other co-defendants pleaded not guilty in the Georgia election interference case on Tuesday. The pleas came after Politico reported earlier in the day about a new trend seems to be emerging among those charged alongside Donald Trump: shift the blame onto the former president.
Thus far, 18 of the 19 defendants, including Trump, have pleaded not guilty. Hearings and court documents reviewed by Politico contain hints that some of them may be planning to point their finger at the former president in order to save themselves.

A couple months ago, we heard that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of the slasher sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer by giving the film a 4K release, just like they did for its predecessor I Know What You Did Last Summer last year. Now we’ve learned that the unpopular trilogy capper I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) will also be getting a new release on the same day I Still Know reaches 4K (September 26th) – but this will be a Blu-ray release instead of 4K.
Directed by Sylvain White (who replaced Damon Santostefano two weeks before filming began) from a screenplay written by Michael D. Weiss, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer is about a group of small town teens who accidentally kill a fellow friend in a 4th of July prank.

While Donald Trump was publicly whipping his supporters into a frenzy over claims that the 2020 election was “stolen,” he was privately mocking his own allies’ outlandish conspiracy theories as “crazy.”
It’s a contradiction that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office would like to know all about.

The unimaginable — a modern U.S. civil war — gains considerable clarity and alarming proximity in the documentary “Against All Enemies,” about the continuing rise of far-right extremist groups. Various talking heads here stress that the January 6 insurrection was no aberration but part of a fast-evolving pattern that poses a serious threat to our democracy. Charlie Sadoff’s film focuses largely on the role of military veterans in groups that one way or another seem to be agitating for violent government overthrow, though it also casts a wider net. This densely packed, sobering overview of hitherto subterranean political trends feels tooled for broadcast, where in any case it would have the most impact.

Jeffrey Clark and Michael Flynn were leading figures in Donald Trump’s efforts to carry out a coup d’etat in 2020 and 2021. The result was mob violence, deaths at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., an array of criminal investigations and lawsuits, and what one former senior Trump aide went on the record to call “the worst day for the Republican Party since Lincoln’s assassination.”

Former Trump National Security Advisor and retired US. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is suing the U.S. government on grounds of wrongful prosecution, according to a new legal filing obtained by Rolling Stone. He is seeking $50 million in damages.
The lawsuit stems from a 2016 FBI investigation during the Obama administration over Flynn’s suspected ties to Russia. In 2017, Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI regarding his association with Russian contacts. Shortly after the 2020 election, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (Dia) received a pardon from Trump.

The Jan. 6 committee has officially subpoenaed Donald Trump.
“This subpoena calls for testimony and relevant documents in your possession on these related topics,” the committee wrote in a letter to the former president after listing several bullet points outlining the former president’s role in working to overturn the election, culminating with the riot at the Capitol.
“We recognize that a subpoena to a former President is a significant and historic action,” the committee continues. “We do not take this action lightly.”
The committee asked Trump to provide documents by Nov.
“This subpoena calls for testimony and relevant documents in your possession on these related topics,” the committee wrote in a letter to the former president after listing several bullet points outlining the former president’s role in working to overturn the election, culminating with the riot at the Capitol.

There’s long been a problematic revolving door between Congress and lobbying work on behalf of special interests. On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported on the revolving door — also plenty problematic — between the U.S. military and foreign governments, often those with a long record of human rights abuse. The armed forces have been trying to keep it a secret, too.
The Post‘s investigation — during which the outlet obtained 4,000 pages of records after a two-year legal battle with the military — found that, since 2015, more than 500 retired military personnel have...

The Jan. 6 committee returned from its summer hiatus and cast a spotlight on the actions of former Trump adviser Roger Stone. The committee laid out Stone’s connections with members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, several members of which have been charged with seditious conspiracy in relation to the attack on the Capitol, as well as his thirst for violence should Trump lose.
“I said fuck the voting, get right to the violence,” Stone said in footage shot by a Danish film crew that was obtained by the committee.

The Jan. 6 committee is holding its ninth and final hearing on Thursday. The committee’s schedule has been subject to change, to say the least, but given the rapidly approaching midterms it’s reasonable to expect this will indeed be the last time the panel presents its findings to the public.
The committee is expected to outline Trump’s role in the effort to overturn the election results, including actions he took after leaving office; display evidence provided by a Danish film crew that trailed longtime Trump ally Roger Stone,...

The cast assembles on the megachurch stage, each taking their turn in a pool of light.
There are doomsaying prophets with curved shofars, aspiring politicians lamenting election fraud, and naturopathic physicians warning of demonic invasion. Mike Lindell steps forward and says evil forces are undoing the nation. Roger Stone gives an apocalyptic homily. Michael Flynn lobs T-shirts into the pews. Scott McKay, alias Patriot Streetfighter, gyrates to the sounds of AC/DC while chopping a tomahawk in the air. In time, the Trump brothers appear and Eric puts his dad on speaker phone.

Sarasota, Florida — Bridget Ziegler hadn’t yet heard from Gov. Ron DeSantis after she won reelection to the Sarasota County school board race on Tuesday night, but she kept her phone close, just in case she did. Standing outside her victory party at a strip mall bar, her eyes flicked toward the screen in her hand as she expressed gratitude for the governor’s endorsement. “He’s been so vocal and bold on education issues and the need to reset and change course,” she explained. “It’s allowed for a major correction.

Arizona has been a hotbed of false claims of election fraud since President Biden edged Donald Trump there in 2020. Many of the conservatives fueling these claims decided to see if they couldn’t get elected to positions of power so they can help rig future elections. The state’s Republican voters indulged them on Tuesday, handing the party’s nomination for Senate to Blake Masters and for secretary of state to Mark Finchem. However, as of early Wednesday morning, the race for the gubernatorial nomination remained too close to call,...

Seth Meyers was a bit baffled on Wednesday night, as he tried to piece together why the Justice Department is reportedly only just now considering criminal charges against Donald Trump more seriously because of the Jan. 6 hearings.
“At this point, the Jan. 6 committee hearings have provided us with ample evidence that Trump and his gang of oddly shaped goons committed multiple crimes,” Meyers prefaced. “I mean, that seemed obvious on the day the insurrection happened, but now we have a lot more detail.”

Days after meeting with the Jan. 6 House committee, a former Trump administration aide published a bizarre, sexist and homophobic tirade on Telegram where he attacks the ongoing investigation and the committee’s star witnesses, calling the operation “anti-white.”
In the rambling 27-minute recording, Garrett Ziegler, who served as an aide to ex-trade adviser Peter Navarro, accuses the politicians leading the Jan. 6 investigation of being “Bolsheviks” who “hate the American founders and most white people.” (The committee, it’s worth noting, is headed up by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who is Black.

Seth Meyers has sympathy for the tough go of it Diet Dr. Pepper has had this week. After making a prominent appearance during one of the Jan. 6 committee hearings, the “Late Night” host joked that it’s become the drink of choice for “unhinged pro-coup Republicans.”
The topic came up as Meyers went over a few things he missed during his two weeks off, including the testimony of Sidney Powell. During her interview with the committee, Powell was holding a can of Diet Dr. Pepper — label out — which she promptly took a large swig from after describing an interaction she had with the president in January.
“She slugged that soda like she’s playing quarters at a Christian sleepaway camp,” Meyers joked. “I will say, it’s a fitting drink for her because Diet Dr. Pepper is the soda you have when there’s nothing else left in the vending machine.

I met Mark Leibovich on a Friday in June in exactly the sort of place I’d expect to find him: At Blt Steak, a power lunch spot three blocks from the White House in the heart of downtown D.C. The honeyed wood paneling, sienna leather, and 34 wagyu steak salad screamed “This Town,” shorthand for the circle jerk of Washington lobbyists, lawmakers, and lackeys who ostensibly run our global superpower. Leibovich had chronicled this milieu of Washington in a 2013 bestseller by the same name, and when Donald Trump steamrolled...

Television viewers looking for tension, drama and urgent historical, political and moral relevance now have something to move to the top of their must-watch list. The first “episode” of the Jan. 6 Committee hearings delivered a chilling account of one of the darkest days in American history, complete with harrowing film footage and powerful testimonials. It remains to be seen whether what’s to follow in the coming weeks will do anything to move the needle among a citizenry that seems to have settled into their respective stances. But judging from the opening installment, there will be plenty of powerful material for those with open minds to digest.
The hearing was deemed important enough to be aired live on all the major broadcast and cable news networks. Except, that is, for Fox, which stuck to its regular primetime lineup. Because, after all, Tucker Carlson...

Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway admitted in a new book what her former boss hates to hear: that he lost the 2020 presidential election.
“Stuck in a parallel universe, many Trump supporters deluded themselves into thinking that somehow the president would remain in office or be reinstated once gone. Trump was more shocked to lose in 2020, I think, than he was to win in 2016,” Conway writes in her new book Here’s the Deal, according to Politico. “I may have been the first person Donald Trump trusted in his inner circle...

Madison Cawthorn lost his bid for reelection on Tuesday despite former President Trump’s efforts to lift him out of a self-created maelstrom of controversy. Sandy Smith is another diehard Trump devotee mired in controversy, but unlike the 26-year-old incumbent, she was able to prevail on Tuesday, winning a crowded Republican primary to represent the state’s 1st District in Congress.

The Jan. 6 committee on Monday requested the voluntary cooperation of three of former President Trump’s biggest supporters in Congress: Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas).
The committee referenced Biggs’ alleged role regarding “various aspects of planning for Jan. 6.” Rolling Stone reported last fall that Biggs was one of several lawmakers who participated in the planning of the rally near the White House that preceded the riot at the Capitol. It noted how Brooks recently said that Trump asked him to “rescind” the 2020 election and...
