The 2022 Emmy ballot for Best Comedy Directing lists 178 episodes, so there will be seven nominees. As a refresher, last year’s winner was “Hacks” (“There Is No Line” by Lucia Aniello) and the other nominees were “The Flight Attendant” (“In Case of Emergency” by Susanna Fogel), “B Positive” (“Pilot” by James Burrows) and “Mom” (“Scooby-Doo Checks and Salisbury Steak” by James Widdoes), plus “Ted Lasso” with three episodes.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from tonight’s episode of NBC’s This Is Us.
For six seasons, fans of NBC’s This Is Us have felt a wide range of emotions toward the character of Miguel—mostly disdain—which they had to reconcile on tonight’s episode of the series aptly titled “Miguel.” The episode tips its hat to a humble and good man, an Afro Latino caught between two worlds never feeling like he fit anywhere perfectly until he fell in love with a woman named Rebecca (Mandy Moore).
The final product is a collaboration between Huertas, staff writer Jonny Gomez, director Zetna Fuentes, multiple Latino actors, and many more Latinos behind the scenes.
“Working on this episode was amazing,” Huertas tells Deadline. “The script was absolutely astounding and we got the perfect director to blow this one out of the park. When I first watched it,...

Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) has quit the LAPD and is now a private investigator who makes “fewer compromises” in the first trailer for Imbd TV’s “Bosch: Legacy,” the spinoff of Prime Video’s longest-running original series, police drama “Bosch.”
While he’s off the force, his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) is now a rookie cop who seems able to handle herself just fine. Her dad tells her, “You have to decide what kind of cop you want to be. The upcoming Hulu series “The Girl from Plainville” re-examines the infamous texting-suicide case that rocked headlines in the mid 2010s.
Elle Fanning leads the series, premiering March 29, as Michelle Carter, who was prosecuted in the case following the death of her boyfriend Conrad Roy III (Colton Ryan). The real-life court case was at the center of Jesse Barron’s 2017 Esquire article of the same name, and was captured in the 2019 HBO documentary “I Love You, Now Die.”
The Massachusetts-set Hulu saga revisits Carter’s alleged abusive behavior, encouragement, and persuasion that was thought to have led to 18-year-old Roy’s suicide.
A first-look trailer shows Fanning as Carter copping to thousands of “messed-up texts” that seemed to “encourage” Conrad to take his life. “Bosch,” Amazon Prime Video’s longest-running series, has finally reached its conclusion— kind of. While one big seven-season-long chapter closes for the abrasive, steadfast and intensive titular Hollywood detective Hieronymous “Harry” Bosch, the disgruntled and now decamped Los Angeles Police Department veteran is headed down a new road. Luckily for fans of the show, this path, to be explored on Amazon IMDb TV’s untitled “Bosch” spinoff, might not diverge too far from what they’re familiar with.
“Bosch,”, starring Titus Welliver, is based on Michael Connelly’s novels featuring the detective; the final season drew on Connelly’s “The Concrete Blonde” and “The Burning Room,” with Harry Bosch and partner Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) “pursuing two separate but perilous murder investigations that will take them to the highest levels of white-collar crime and...

Latinx directors Alberto Belli (The House of Flowers), Aurora Guerrero, Joel Novoa and Diego Velasco (Orange is the New Black) have launched LatinxDirectors.com, the first site that is specific to Latinx episodic and film directors.
The site focuses on creating a simple user experience for both sides of the pipeline. Studio executives, producers, showrunners and agents will be able to find directors of all genres with specific heritage, specialties, and levels of experience. In addition, users can easily watch reels and access current representation. It’s essentially a valuable resource to seek out creators of Latinx descent.
Velasco said that the idea for Latinx Directors came about a year ago when the founders were sharing similar experiences about executives complaining that there were no Latinx directors to hire for their shows even though they knew so many that were ready to work.

As Variety previously reported, the Time’s Up and Me Too movements have played important roles this season, with the networks all looking for ways to increase female representation.
According to multiple TV literary agents who spoke with Variety, there was a clear shift within the networks this year to increase the number of women behind the camera, particularly in the director’s chair. One source also noted that the studios exerted “immense pressure” to increase the number of female directors this season.
ABC has 13 female creators on 9 of their 23 pilots this year, up from 9 creators in 2017. Of those, five are comedies, including originals from Liz Meriwether and J.J. Philbin, Diablo Cody,...
