To some, releasing a trailer for Venom: The Last Dance during Pride month might just be a happy coincidence. But for queer fans of the Tom Hardy-led film series, the timing of this release was everything. While the previous entries in this film series, Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, have been generally panned (including by some of our staff), there is a subset of fans who celebrate the films for the queer subtext lying beneath that flashy blockbuster facade. And a lot of this has to do with Tom Hardy’s portrayal of both Venom and Eddie Brock.

A couple days ago, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for their Marvel Comics adaptation Venom: The Last Dance, giving us our first look at the film that’s meant to wrap up the Venom series and is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release. Now Forbes has published an interview with star Tom Hardy in which he talks about ending the series with a bang – and teased that this movie might have an R rating. (The previous two Venom movies were rated PG-13.)
Hardy told Forbes, “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. If the mission statement is commercial, blockbuster, action and superhero movie, how can we imbue a sense of something that’s fun and different? What’s going to entice people that they have a memory, they have a moment, they have an event? This comes from us who are really,...

When Spider-Man: No Way Home hit the theatres in 2021, fans around the world lost it as they witnessed Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland joining hands in order to battle it out with a band of antagonists who were threatening to ravage across the Multiverse. With a trip down memory lane, and numerous Easter eggs in the film, it was an experience to behold for fans across the world. And it wouldn’t have been the same without the return of Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Man. And this induction was made possible only because of how Disney Studios acquired the rights to Spider-Man. But Tom Hardy might have dropped a major update on a future Spider-Man movie.

The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released yesterday and...well, it was quite something. It's a Venom movie, alright, and while it looks like an "epic" conclusion to the trilogy, there are signs of the same old problems.
Sony Pictures has never quite managed to grasp this character, but Venom was a hit in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed well despite being released in the final months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That's given the studio a false sense of confidence and a belief that, no matter what fans and critics say, the goofy direction they've taken this franchise in is the right one. In this feature, we single out moments in the trailer which highlight the mistakes Sony has already made with Venom: The Last Dance.

Star Trek is one of the most significant and oldest media franchises out there. It has amassed a massive fan base over the years. However, the franchise faced a major setback in 2002 when Star Trek: Nemesis turned out to be a gigantic critical and commercial flop.
Brent Spiner, who played the role of the android Data in The Next Generation series, 4 films, and in the Picard series admitted that Nemesis‘ failure made him feel that the fans are done with Star Trek.

Star Trek: Nemesis was the fourth and the last film with the cast of The Next Generation series. Additionally, it also had Tom Hardy playing the antagonist opposite Patrick Stewart’s lead. Venom: The Last Dance has finally released its first trailer which dives into Eddie Brock/ Venom’s journey as it comes to an end. Although the teaser has already given us a glimpse of what danger awaits the anti-hero which could turn out to become their last dance, fans are more in awe over what the symbiote is doing in its first trailer.

“Eddie… my home has found me,” the symbiote Venom warns his host Eddie Brock in the first trailer for the third Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance. For the longest time, that statement wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
After all, Venom’s “home” was Battleworld, the planet where the Beyonder took a cadre of heroes and villains in the 1984 Marvel Comics crossover Secret Wars. When Spider-Man’s costume was ruined, a machine on Battleworld created a new one for him, which later revealed itself to be a malevolent symbiote. When Peter abandoned the suit, it bonded with the equally aggrieved photographer Eddie Brock and became Venom.
Simple, right? So simple that the origin stayed pretty much the same over the years, even as guys like Carnage showed up. Alternate versions of the Venom story, such as Spider-Man 3 or the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game, found...

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock was teleported from his reality to Earth-616 (a.k.a. the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
His beaten-up Mexico hotel was replaced by what looked like a 5* resort, with the Venom Symbiote taking great interest in a TV news report about the wall-crawler. The stage was then set for a meeting between the two characters, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home to end with the reveal that Eddie never left his resort.
However, Venom did leave a piece of himself behind on Earth-616 in a scene clearly meant to open the door to Tom Holland's Peter Parker getting his own alien suit.
With Eddie sent back to where he came from, only a bartender - played by Ted Lasso's Cristo Fernández - was left to comment on the fact his sole customer vanished without paying his tab.

Over the years, we’ve learned to take a supposed cinematic finale with a pinch of salt. Years after Logan, Hugh Jackman is back in Deadpool & Wolverine. In horror-land, Saw: The Final Chapter turned out to be anything but. The apparent end of the Jurassic era with Jurassic World: Dominion lasted mere years, with a new film entering production shortly. But, if the title (and pre-release chatter) is to be believed Venom: The Last Dance will be Tom Hardy’s… well, last dance with the Venom symbiote, capping off Sony's trilogy of Spider-Man-adjacent comic book outings with a whole bunch more space-goo creatures in the mix. Following his very brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, we catch up with Hardy’s Eddie Brock, who is now on the run – and facing foes both from Earth, and Venom’s homeworld. Check out the trailer:

Eddie Brock and his…better(?) half “may not make it out of [this one] alive.” That’s probably why the third and final film in the “Venom” series is subtitled “The Last Dance.”
On Monday, Sony Pictures released the trailer for the Marvel movie that officially makes “Venom” a trilogy. You would think by now the Tom Hardy character and his frenemy alien symbiote would have their timing down a bit better, but an early (and comedic) scene in the official trailer proves they’ve still got some work to do. The levity soon gives way to Brock/Venom biting four guys’ heads off — classic Venom.
In “Venom: The Last Dance,” the guys are on the lam — and it’s not just their Earth enemies who are closing in. The film’s tagline is “‘Til Death Do They Part,” which does not particularly promise a happy ending.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, even if Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock is still getting a bit used to sharing headspace with an alien symbiote.
In the clip, a seemingly reluctant Brock is cornered by a bad guy or several, and has no choice but to let the Venom drip, even if he is a little rusty at it. Take a look above.
Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Hardy’s final installment as the Marvel anti-hero, a role he last played in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). This time around, Hardy shares a story credit on the film with Kelly Marcel, who directs.

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock for one final time in this autumn’s Venom: The Last Dance. Here’s a new trailer.
Venom is one of the more off-beat and wayward franchises in the superhero genre, with Tom Hardy evidently relishing his dual role of scruffy journalist Eddie Brock and Venom, the alien symbiote that becomes his unlikely partner.
Six years on from the 2018 original and the 2021 sequel, Let There Be Carnage, Hardy reprises the role for the third (and seemingly final) time in this October’s Venom The Last Dance. And if you’ve been wondering whether or not it’ll continue the knowingly over-the-top style of the last two movies, then fear not: the trailer below sees Venom fighting a monster on the roof of a moving jumbo jet and, a bit later, possessing a horse.

In the trailer, Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom are on the run, with both the footage and the movie’s title strongly suggesting a grim outcome for them. Sony has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, which is being billed as “the final film in the trilogy” starring Tom Hardy. Check it out below.
Following the events of 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock (Hardy) and his alien symbiote companion are more in tune than ever — even if they still haven’t quite nailed the catchphrase. But as David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” plays in the preview, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor gear up a military squad to bring the extraterrestrial fugitive down.
With Stephen Graham’s symbiote-bonded Detective Mulligan in their custody, it seems the government has learned more dangerous creatures from Venom’s home planet are on their way to Earth. So while Brock and his slimy black buddy are on the run from one army, they must get ready to do battle with another, nastier one… that comes with way more teeth.

A third film in the Marvel Comics-inspired Venom franchise made its way through production last year, shutting down for several months along the way due to the Screen Actors Guild strike. Now the film, titled Venom: The Last Dance, is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release – and today, Sony Pictures is starting to build the hype by unveiling the first trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.
The first Venom was scripted by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer directed that film, which made $856 million. But then Fleischer turned his focus to making Zombieland: Double Tap and Uncharted – so Andy Serkis took over as director on Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Which was written by Kelly Marcel, working from a story she crafted with star Tom Hardy. That sequel earned $506 million at the pandemic era global box office. Serkis said he would be...

Tom Hardy is ready to tango one last time with Venom, the Marvel anti-hero he has played for the past six years. The actor stars in the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, which is billed as the final film of Hardy’s trilogy in which he plays journalist Eddie Brock — a man who bonds with an alien symbiote, together becoming Venom.
Hardy has taken a hands-on approach with the Venom franchise, earning a story by credit on The Last Dance and previous entry, Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). His frequent writing partner Kelly Marcel steps into the director’s chair for this installment, which opens Oct. 25.
The Last Dance follows Venom (2018), which became a surprise overperformer at the box office, earning $856.1 million globally. Hardy followed that up with Let There Be Carnage (2021), which topped $506.8 million at the box office, a solid showing considering it was released amid pandemic challenges,...

Marvel's best couple is coming back to try and save Sony's woebegone live-action Spider-Verse one final time. With "Morbius" failing to make "It's Morbin' Time!" happen and "Madame Web" falling harder than Dakota Johnson trying to pop the lid on a soda can, it's up to Tom Hardy's lobster tank-diving journalist Eddie Brock and his tater tots-snacking, gooey-hearted (and just plain gooey) boyfriend Venom to keep the studio's hopes of a viable "Spider-Man" extended universe alive. (At least until Aaron Taylor-Johnson's nose-biting Kraven the Hunter arrives to usher in the next Yuletide season classic.)
"Venom: The Last Dance" sees "Venom" and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" co-writer Kelly Marcel trying her hand at directing for the first time, once again drawing from a story she cooked up with Hardy. With just five months to go until the release of Venom: The Last Dance, we surprisingly know very little about the movie, but that’s all set to change as there have been rumblings that the first trailer will debut next week.

Scooper Daniel Richtman narrowed down the release window, saying it will be released on Monday. The trailer is expected to screen in front of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which hits theaters on June 7th.

As I mentioned above, plot details regarding Venom: The Last Dance have been kept under wraps, so it will be nice to finally know a little of what to expect from what’s being billed as the third and final installment of the franchise. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock/Venom,...

From being involved in major IPs, including Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, the MCU, and Star Wars to helming on the director’s chair in three films, Andy Serkis has been a very busy man in Hollywood. Having marked his directorial debut with 2017’s Breathe, the acclaimed actor has gone on to direct two more features, one of them being 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
But the Black Panther star refused to return for the Venom threequel in order to bring another one of his projects to life, which was on the sidelines for over a decade following his packed schedule.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. While Sony’s Spider-Verse movies Madame Web and Morbius both laid eggs at the box office (to put it mildly), another live-action franchise from the studio has been minting money – the Venom films. Despite pretty awful reviews, the first movie made $856 million worldwide. The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only made just over $500 million (still a lot of moolah), but that was due to opening during the pandemic (it was actually the third highest-grossing movie of the year). With the third film pretty much guaranteed to make money no matter how it fares with critics, Sony is moving it up slightly on the release calendar, with it now set for October 25th, 2024. The movie also has a new title, Venom: The Last Dance.
This pre-Halloween weekend propelled Five Nights at Freddy’s to a huge opening, and Sony is no doubt hoping to score with horror audiences as well as superhero fans.

Nearly a decade after its initial release, "Mad Max: Fury Road" remains a miracle of filmmaking. On paper, nothing about this movie should work. It's a new entry in a decades-old movie series with a brand new cast (after its previous star turned out to be a horrible person), with a blend of CG and practical stunts that could have easily killed half the cast yet somehow didn't, and a story told mostly via visuals rather than dialogue or quips.
It is also a movie that faced countless issues before, during, and even after production, from changes in studios to big casting changes, wars, and more — like fate was determined to keep it from getting made. One of the big challenges throughout production was the weather. The main shooting location changed from New South Wales to the Namibian desert after an unexpectedly heavy rainfall turned the original location from a...

After back-to-back bombs like Morbius and Madame Web, Sony‘s Spider-Verse needs a win. Thankfully, Kelly Marcel’s Venom 3 is nearing completion, and the symbiote is known to entertain audiences while bringing home the box office. Speaking with Variety at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Ted Lasso and Venom 3 star Juno Temple said filming for the threequel is nearly done. She described the experience of working on Venom 3 as a “wonderful ride,” adding the film is bound to please Venom fans.
“We’re coming close to an end at the moment,” Temple said. “It’s been a wild, wonderful ride. It’s so new to me. It’s a big set! This is crazy. It’s been so much fun and I got to work with such cool people. I’ve been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can...

Venom 3 has reportedly completed its filming and is heading in the right direction for its planned theatrical release by the end of this year. Andrew Garfield fans cannot forgive Sony for not giving him a deserved trilogy, while Tom Hardy’s villain is getting his sweet three films. Many fans also complained about Sony making a Spider-Man villain trilogy without the central superhero appearing in the films.
Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock / Venom will return in the upcoming film Venom 3
Kelly Marcel, who wrote the screenplay for the first two films, serves as the director of Venom 3. While the first two Venom movies were profitable, the fate of the third film hangs in the balance due to the studio’s current reputation.

Rescued singularly by Tom Hardy and his utter commitment to his titular character of an alien symbiote with an attitude issue, Venom blew at the box office. But the sequel, directed by Andy Serkis, turned out to be the least passable spin on the buddy comedy. Right from the second installment, the Venom franchise gradually started degrading.
Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)
Being a part of the extended Spider-Man Universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom movies were supposed to have a larger fanbase, but unfortunately, they failed to make an impact. Now, after one hit and a mediocre sequel that barely stood a chance at the box office, Sony is back with a threequel. Starring Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple, the movie is said to be directed by Kelly Marcel. However, despite the stellar cast, fans are not convinced to watch the movie.

Juno Temple recently spilled the beans on ‘Venom 3’, revealing that the film is almost done shooting. She chatted with Variety at the 2024 SAG Awards and couldn’t hide her excitement. She mentioned it’s been a thrilling adventure on such a massive set and working with an amazing team. Temple is new to the ‘Venom‘ series, joining other actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo in this latest installment. With Kelly Marcel directing and Tom Hardy co-writing, there’s a lot of buzz around this film.
Filming faced delays last year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but got back on track in November. Hardy, who’s back as Eddie Brock, has put his heart into this project, according to Temple. She believes no one else could nail the Venom role as he does.
