"What do you two really think of each other?" Trinity Creative has revealed the official US trailer for the dark comedy film Decrypted, a wacky crypto film made by filmmaker Tom Sands. After debuting last year in the UK, the film is now available to watch on VOD in the US if anyone is curious - "the feature film that is taking the crypto community by storm." An outrageous and provocative film about a mismatched Nsa team who kidnap Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, to get the info they need to destroy cryptocurrencies. The botched interrogation forces together a group of people who then get into all kinds of trouble. The cast includes Talisa Garcia, Sophia Myles, David Hoflin, Amanda Abbington, Kevin McNally, Clive Francis, Aki Kotabe, Don Gilet, and Sophie Barker. This looks too dumb and kooky to be any good. But I'm glad someone is willing to...

The impact of "Star Wars" on popular culture and Hollywood filmmaking cannot be overstated. Many directors have commented on how George Lucas' 1977 film personally influenced their lives and careers. For Ridley Scott, however, experiencing "Star Wars" would not only change his own direction, but would also result in one of the only films that comes close to rivaling the legacy of "Star Wars" itself.
When Scott saw "Star Wars" on opening night in 1977, he had a strong and immediate reaction. Prior to the release of his first feature film, "The Duellists," at Cannes Film Festival, where it would win "Best Debut Film," Scott traveled to Los Angeles to pre-screen the movie. There, he got an opportunity to see "Star Wars" at Grauman's Chinese Theatre with his producer and friend, David Putnam. "The theater was positively boiling with expectation," Scott said in a 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and when the curtains opened,...

Listen is a film that will make you cry, but more importantly, it will just make you really angry. Angry at the system it portrays, as a film that shines a harsh light on the social services industry, and a labyrinthine process. Yet the film doesn’t judge the individuals, but the system they’re placed within. To mark the release of this moving film, we had the pleasure in speaking to two of the film’s leads, Lúcia Moniz & Sophia Myles. We discussed their knowledge of the world they inhabited in this film, and on themes director Ana Rocha is portraying. What transpires here is a fascinating chat with two talented actresses, that go into depth about their roles and careers. Be sure to watch the full interview below.
Synopsis
In the London suburbs, Bela and Jota face serious difficulties when “social services” raise concerns about the safety of their three children.

Long before Britney Spears or Pamela Anderson, there was Margaret Whigham, the 1930s British socialite more famously known as the Duchess of Argyll. The only child in a wealthy Scottish family, Margaret’s beauty, fashion sense and string of high-profile romances made her constant tabloid fodder. But it was her extremely public 1963 divorce from Ian Campbell, the Duke of Argyll, that forever tainted her name with the general public.
That “divorce of the century” serves as the story at the heart of Prime Video’s three-part limited project, “A Very British Scandal.” The drama — and what it says about the double standards to which women in the public eye are held — feels eerily timely in the wake of our recent re-examination of how figures like Spears and Anderson have been treated in the media.
The story never fails to drive that message home, but in end that may also be its biggest flaw.

When an extremely mismatched team of National Security Agency operatives take on a covert mission to kidnap the creator of Bitcoin – Satoshi Nakamoto – to extract, by any means necessary, the information they need to destroy cryptocurrencies, things go wildly wayward in this raucous romp. The botched Nsa interrogation forces together a homophobic field agent, a feminist technical adviser, a transgender asylum seeker, a crypto-anarchist, a racist Brexiteer and an inclusionist MI5 agent. Of course sparks start to fly when their opposing beliefs clash in major way. But a truth drug reveals a newfound honesty with riotous consequences…

Doctor Who and Underworld actress Sophia Myles took to Twitter earlier this week to show her followers the deadly serious effects of the Coronavirus. She spent a day posting updates on her father’s condition and most distressing were pictures of him struggling to breathe through an oxygen mask while Myles comforted him. She captioned the photo:
“Yesterday I went on a journey to see my father. This is the harsh reality of the coronavirus.”
Later in the day, she posted a tragic update, explaining that he had since died:
“Rip Peter Myles. My dear Dad died only a few hours ago. It was the coronavirus that finally took him.”
Sadly, I suspect we’ll be seeing many stories like this over the next few weeks as the true impact of the virus hits the Us. While we spend a lot of time on this site discussing how the pandemic...

"Being a vampire sucks." These are the first words uttered by vampire/private investigator Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin), in the series premiere of the Moonlight TV show. Those words would soon apply to being a fan too, since Moonlight was cancelled by CBS after only one season of 16 episodes, back in May of 2008. Now the complete series is available to stream for free, on the ad-supported CW Seed. As The CW is a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment, and Moonlight was produced by Warner Bros. Television, we're left wondering why it took them so long to put the series up on CW Seed. A paranormal romance drama, Moonlight also stars Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, and Shannyn Sossamon, in addition to Hawaii Five-0's O'Loughlin. It premiered on CBS in September of 2007...

Last month we took a look at Doctor Who Series One as it celebrated its 10th Anniversary. Specifically, we delved deep into the murky world of in-jokes and sweet nerdy references.

The TV series "Spooks," also known as "Mi-5," has often been labelled the British equivalent of "24". It was a spy thriller series that ran for ten years and boasted talents that have since made names for themselves in other projects including David Oyelowo, Richard Armitage, Matthew Macfadyen, Iain Glen, Lara Pulver, Sophia Miles, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keely Hawes, Rupert Penry-Jones, Anna Chancellor and many more.
It was also distinctive because long before "Game of Thrones" and the like, it was not afraid to randomly kill off its core cast members - including its male leading man with the show going through at least four of those across its 86 episode run. Fitting then that 'Thrones' star Kit Harington is the new leading man in the show's jump to the big screen in the new film "Spooks: The Greater Good".

Five days into the new year and the movie awards season is in full swing. A chance to celebrate all of the cinematic gold bestowed upon us by filmmakers over the last 365 days, the majority of awards bodies veer towards the positive. The good, the great and the outstanding movie achievements. Of course, you can’t have yin without yang, and that customary glint of deviousness amidst the showers of compliments will soon be upon us, in the shape of the The Annual Golden Raspberry Awards.
Known informally as The Razzies, the achievements are dished out based on how bad the category nominees performed, and this year’s nominees have now been announced. Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways To Die In The West beat out its closest competitors for the esteemed honour of most nominations with a whopping eight altogether. Recent limelight comedy, The Interview, also snagged four nominations across three categories.

After the battle of Chicago, the Transformers, both Autobot and Decepticon alike, are no longer welcome on earth. They are on the run and the humans are on the offensive, killing any transformers they find and harvesting the metal inside. They are then using that metal to make their own transformers which are bigger and better than the originals. At the same time, down on his luck inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and his daughter (Nicola Peltz) make the discovery of a lifetime when, what was thought to be a harmless scrap truck, turns out to be no other than leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime himself. This, however puts them in the targets of both human and Decepticon alike,...

Hold me. Thrill me. Kiss me. Kill me. The films of David Mackenzie envision life as a never-ending whirlwind of experience, a cyclone of emotion constantly spinning out of control. These feelings are heightened and externalized through melodrama, yet they can also simmer under the surface like hidden secrets waiting to explode. While his exhausted characters never fit into one social class – pop stars, artisan chefs and thuggish bruisers all take center stage – each sees the world in a similarly warped way. They are confused by inadequacy, defined by repression, purposefully solitary, and bordering on self-destruction. But most importantly they are also eager to transcend this unhappiness, especially after finding inspiration in another equally tormented individual. One must simply desire the opportunity to grow, to live, to survive.

Via Parade Magazine, "The clip features stars Stanley Tucci and Sophia Myles, and screenwriter Ehren Kruger, discussing Tucci’s character, Joshua Joyce. While it’s a nice informative clip about the thinking behind Joyce’s megalomania, the best moment comes as Sophia Myles describes just how hard it is to work with Tucci because he’s constantly making her laugh. She even tells us about the advice she received from veteran actor Kelsey Grammer about how to handle the giggles." The fourth installment of the blockbuster franchise based on the Hasbro toy line, Paramount Pictures' $1 billion worldwide blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction makes its highly-anticipated debut September 30, 2014 on Blu-ray and Blu-ray. Directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor and Titus Welliver. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime and the Autobots must rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet.

The Great British Bake Off: BBC One, 8pm
Following the national meltdown (sorry) over the Baked Alaska 'bingate' drama last week, Bake Off returns without Iain, or Diana, who dropped out of filming for health reasons.
Emotions are running understandably high as the remaining bakers prepare a selection of pies and tarts, and try their hardest to avoid Mary Berry's least favourite feature: a soggy bottom.
Our Zoo: BBC One, 9pm
Straight after Bake Off comes a heart-warming new period drama on BBC One, which tells the story of the family who founded Chester Zoo.
Appalled at the treatment of the animals at a local circus, ex-soldier George Mottershead (Lee Ingleby) relocates a monkey and a parrot to his parents back yard - much to their distaste. Liz White, Ralf Little, Anne Reid, Sophia Myles and Stephen Campbell Moore (pictured) also star.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one. It was a dark and stormy night. Five travelers on a remote mountain road get caught in a flash flood and their car runs off the road. Even though they were warned not to take the road they are on by local law enforcement. Some are slightly injured; the only building for miles around is a strangely isolated, forebodingly huge house high on a hill.
Wait, it gets better. The old man who appears to be the only inhabitant does not want them to come in the house; they beg and plead since some in their group are injured. The bearded old man reluctantly lets them in to give them shelter, but orders them not to go anywhere in the building but the lobby. The building is an inn but nobody has signed the register since 1978 you see.

Exploring the motivations and secrets of the main characters of a film is often one of the most important aspects that truly allows audiences to relate to, and understand, the protagonists and antagonists of any story. While horror movies often forgo those character studies to instead frighten audiences with physical threats and stunts, the best entries in the genre are often the ones that incorporate the characters’ emotions in with the action. Actress Sophia Myles enthralling embraced the need to infuse her new horror independent film, ‘The Damned,’ which was helmed by genre veteran Victor Garcia, with both powerful emotions and physicality to showcase the true terrors of the story. Damned If You Do: Garcia’s Creepy House Horror a Non-Entity
For some strange reason, IFC Midnight decided to release direct-to-dvd pro Victor Garcia’s latest film, The Damned (originally, and more colorfully titled Gallows Hill) in theaters, even though its questionable quality clearly doesn’t support such conviction. Tiredly cliché and doggedly dull, its existence begs one to inquire, who the hell is the audience for these lifeless films, filled with cheap flourishes and routines so commonplace that you can sleepwalk through its checklist of events?
David (Peter Facinelli), an estranged father attempts to retrieve his daughter Jill (Nathalia Ramos) in Bogota, where she is vacationing with her aunt (Carolina Guerra) and a cameraman (Sebastian Martinez) turned boyfriend. About to be remarried, this time to his fiancée, Lauren (Sophia Myles), there’s vague tension between father and daughter relating to the mysterious death of Jill’s mother. A...

Is The Damned scary? Yes, a bit. But full enjoyment of this horror film might depend on the depth of your sympathy for characters who are teeth-gnashingly stupid, ignore grim warnings, wander off alone in a sprawling old inn after it becomes clear that something is creepily amiss — and who are almost uniformly some variation of jerk.
True, those are the structural beams of the genre, but The Damned's firm adherence to template and its built-in contrivances are a weakness. After a thoroughly avoidable car accident en route to Medellín, an extended-family group — an American father (Peter Facinelli;) his new British fiancée (Sophia Myles;) his teen daughter; her boyfriend; and her Colombian aunt, an ethically challenged TV reporter &...

A dinosaur, robots, and a new Doctor. What did Simon make of Peter Capaldi's series 8 debut, Deep Breath?
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
8.1 Deep Breath
Well, Peter Capaldi is really rather great. It seems logical to start there, as he's top of the list of big, beaming positives in Deep Breath, the starting point for Doctor Who series 8. From the moment he utters the word "shush" to a typically militaristic Strax, there's little doubt that the newly redesigned Tardis - now with books and dinosaur slobber - is in safe hands.
It's too early to call definitely, of course, but on the evidence of the (surprisingly) limited screen time he's given in Deep Breath, Capaldi is the Doctor we wanted him to be. Steeped in the tradition of the older Doctors, from his costume to his demeanour - noting himself that he's not got a...

Nb: This article contains mild spoilers for Transformers: Age Of Extinction
This summer’s Transformers: Age Of Extinction brings Michael Bay’s franchise to its latest, wildly intricate zenith. It contains a bewildering cast of characters, a plot which spans different continents (including a large chunk set in China) and several epochs. It introduces a new evil robot called Lockdown, a substance called Transformium, and a deadly device called the Seed. It is, in short, completely bonkers.
Age Of Extinction has elicited the kind of irked critical response (not least on this very site) Michael Bay’s probably inured to by now, and we won’t rehash our opinions on its punishing duration or plot specifics again here. But as we sat in the darkness of an...

Paramount Pictures released their new hardcore, action flick "Transformers 4: Age Of Extinction" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was highly entertaining with tons of action, drama, suspense, and even a little drama to boot. It stars: Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor as Shane Dyson, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, and T.J. Miller. In the new flick, struggling inventor, Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and his daughter Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz), stumble upon a truck that they eventually learn is the famous Optimus Prime Autobot. From there, Cade goes to work to try and repair Optimus as he was badly injured from a human and Decepticon attack. Unfortunately, it's not too long before Cade is paid a visit by an elite CIA unit called, "Cemetery Wind," which was formed by a man, named Harold Attinger, with the intent of hunting down and exterminating the surviving Autobots.

Michael Bay returns to the Transformers franchise with the longer, louder Age Of Extinction. Here’s Ryan’s review...
In terms of robots falling apart and explosions, Michael Bay set himself a high bar with 2011‘s Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. So much so that Bay stated that he wouldn’t make another one - just as he did after he shot the first sequel, Revenge Of The Fallen in 2009. But having made his low-key, low-budget passion project (the $26m action caper Pain & Gain, starring The Rock), the blockbuster auteur found himself creatively refreshed enough to make yet another Transformers flick.
The result is Age Of Extinction: a film somehow louder, more violent and, mind-bogglingly, even longer than its predecessor (the duration’s 165 minutes). Its story picks up a year or so after Dark Of The Moon and its climactic battle in Chicago, in which the entire city was destroyed by warring Autobots,...
