After being saved from a crash-landing by Netflix just two years ago, “Manifest” has just about reached its final destination. The NBC supernatural drama-turned Netflix original will premiere the back half of its fourth and final season on June 2, the streamer announced Friday. The news was accompanied by a teaser for the final episodes.
Created by Jeff Rake, “Manifest” debuted on NBC in September 2018. The show was a ratings success in its first season, attracting 10.3 million viewers for its pilot episode. The show’s numbers steadily declined across its following two seasons, and NBC pulled the plug on the drama in June 2021.
Although that cancellation would typically be the end of the series’ flight plan, “Manifest” unexpectedly found a new set of wings on Netflix. The streaming giant added all three “Manifest” seasons the same month NBC grounded the drama; the show quickly found an entirely new audience on the streamer,...

“Manifest” Season 4 wasn’t gonna happen — but then came the streaming numbers.
Netflix launched reruns of “Manifest” Seasons 1 and 2 on June 10, 2021; four days later, NBC canceled its “Lost”-like missing-airplane series. On June 24, 2021, Netflix launched its weekly Global Top 10 TV and Film lists. Guess which series claimed two of the Top 5 slots?
Season 1 ranked third on the streamer’s inaugural weekly ranking; “Manifest” Season 2 was fifth. The first season would go on to appear on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV series list 18 more times — the only other show to pull that off is a little ditty called “Stranger Things 4.”
“Manifest” was a Top 5 broadcast entertainment series in its first season; beyond prime-time football, only “This Is Us” drew higher Nielsen ratings among adults 18-49 on NBC that year. Part 1 of “Manifest” Season 4 will premiere on Netflix on Nov. 4.
Consisting of ten episodes, Season 4 Part 1 comes over a year after “Manifest” was canceled by NBC, where it originally aired. Before its cancellation, the series arrived on Netflix and quickly rose to the top of the streamer’s Top 10 rankings. Netflix then picked it up for a fourth and final season in Aug. 2021.
Season 1 of “Manifest” has spent 16 weeks on the Netflix Top 10, but that success didn’t come during its streaming debut alone. The season reappeared on the chart recently, during the July 4-10 viewing window, and Seasons 2 and 3 followed suit the next week. Its increased viewership comes as a result of a wider reach, as “Manifest” was added to Netflix in India, Latin America and the Nordic countries earlier this summer.

Pinocchio might not be a real boy just yet, but he definitely is a real puppet.
Disney Plus has released the first trailer for “Pinocchio,” a live-action remake of the classic 1940 animated movie of the same name, which hits the service in September.
Based on the classic 1883 children’s book “The Adventures of Pinocchio” by Italian author Carlo Collodi, “Pinocchio” stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who provides his voice to the living puppet. Pinocchio is the creation of Geppetto (Tom Hanks), a childless woodcarver, who wishes on a star for Pinocchio to become a real boy. His wish is heard by a Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), who visits his shop and brings the puppet to life. An overjoyed Geppetto raises him like his own son, but for Pinocchio to become a real boy instead of just a living puppet, he’ll need to go on a coming-of-age journey and learn how to be selfless,...

It’s almost time for takeoff; it appears season 4 of Manifest will finally debut on Netflix this fall.
The super-sized fourth and final season of the Jeff Rake drama will be released in two parts consisting of 10 episodes each. Rake has lots of burning questions to answer — an opportunity he lost in June of 2021 when NBC abruptly axed the show after its third season. There was no time to craft a proper finale, and now Rake finally has that opportunity.
Here’s the official description for the final season: “When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years — and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they’re all given a second chance.

After NBC canceled “Manifest” last June, Netflix swooped in to save the sci-fi series and is now preparing to roll out its upcoming fourth and final season in two parts. And on Monday, the streamer gave fans a first look clip.
In the sneak peek, released as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) goes undercover at a shipping yard, looking for clues among the cargo holders.
On Monday Netflix confirmed that each portion of Season 4 will consist of 10 episodes each.
Following the show’s cancellation, an online #SaveManifest fan campaign was launched. The show then debuted its back episodes on Netflix in July, where it would accrue more than 7 billion viewing minutes in the U.S. through late September. It also claimed the most-watched streaming title overall six times in that span, according to Nielsen. In late August of last year, Netflix announced that it had ordered...

When you wish upon a star, you just might get the first teaser trailer for Disney’s live action “Pinocchio.” But you won’t get a look at Pinocchio himself in the footage just yet.
In the first-look footage, Tom Hanks is hard at work as Gepetto, with his beloved cat Figaro on hand too. He’s crafting the soon-to-be famous puppet Pinocchio, but as always, is very lonely. So, we see him start to make his ultimate wish. But before we see the puppet come to life, we meet his conscience, Jiminy Cricket.
In fact, Pinocchio isn’t seen at all in the footage, beyond just his hand. Instead, audiences get a tease of all the adventures he’ll have, through the eyes of Jiminy Cricket. But there is someone we do get to see: Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy. We even get a few bars of her...

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices Pinocchio, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Pinocchio’s guide Jiminy Cricket; Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key as “Honest” John; Oscar nominee Lorraine Bracco as the new character, Sofia the Seagull; and Luke Evans as The Coachman. Hanks’ Geppetto is, of course, the wood-carver who builds Pinocchio and treats him as if he were his own son.

A “Real Steel” series adaptation is in the early stages of development at Disney Plus, Variety has learned.
The potential series would be based on the 2011 film of the same name, which was itself based on the short story “Steel” by Richard Matheson.
The film took place in the not too distant future in which human boxers have been replaced by giant fighting robots. Hugh Jackman starred as a former boxer who, along with his estranged son, fixes up an old robot they find in a junkyard and turns it into a champion.
As the project is still in the very early stages, no writer is yet attached. That means it is not yet clear if the show would adhere to the events of the original film or take a different direction altogether with new characters.
Shawn Levy, who directed the “Real Steel” film, will executive produce the series via 21 Laps.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of fan favorite Vance in the upcoming fourth and final season of Manifest on Netflix. Daryl Edwards, who has recurred as Nsa Director Robert Vance (aka “Vance”) since the pilot episode, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming season of the missing plane drama.
It was Vance who, in the pilot, announced to passengers of Flight 828 that they’ve “been missing and presumed dead for 5 1/2 years.” Since then, he has become an ally to the passengers, especially Ben Stone, played by Josh Dallas. The role was only meant to be short-term, but due to praise for Edwards’ performance, the role was expanded and he was brought back in the second season after being killed off in Season 1.

“Manifest” has been saved by Netflix. The drama will get a fourth and final season at the streamer following its sudden cancellation at NBC, Netflix announced Saturday.
The series will get 20 new episodes to wrap up the story of the passengers of Flight 828. The episodes will be rolled out in parts, with the number of parts and specific episodes in each yet to be determined.
The new deal follows a lengthy campaign to save the show by fans and producers Warner Bros. Television. Talks with Netflix initially began shortly after the cancellation in June, though it was later reported that talks had fallen through. Netflix later resumed conversations with Wbtv after the #SaveManifest campaign continued on social media, bolstered by series creator Jeff Rake, and as viewership of the show’s first two seasons surged on Netflix.
One major sticking point was said to be international rights for the show,...
