Last year, a bidding war was going down between Netflix and Amazon for a lucrative package deal. The two streaming giants were in a fight to acquire the film rights to the novella by Don Winslow called Crime 101. The package deal had included two attached stars — Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal. Although, Pascal has now reportedly been replaced by Mark Ruffalo. It also has a director set to helm the project with Bart Layton, whose credits include the documentary The Imposter from 2012 and American Animals from 2018. Amazon had come out as the victor and according to Deadline, Saltburn and Masters of the Air star Barry Keoghan will now join the heist film.

Who could’ve imagined that the thrilling ensemble of Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes, who stole our hearts in 2012’s superhero extravaganza, would find their way back to us in such a spectacular reunion? Did we mention that Mark Ruffalo played a major role in making all of this possible?
As we all know, The Avengers’ dream team, featuring the incomparable charisma of Robert Downey Jr. and the fierce prowess of Scarlett Johansson has bid a seemingly final adieu in the epic finale of Avengers: Endgame. Sure, there is no denying that the film was indeed a cinematic juggernaut that not only shattered box office records by grossing over $2.79 billion worldwide but also marked a poignant farewell to beloved characters.

Barry Keoghan is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101. He will co-star with Chris Hemsworth, who also is in talks to star and produce alongside producing partner Ben Grayson. The film will be released in theaters next year.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, the original short story by Winslow has shades of Heat as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.
Bart Layton is directing and wrote the script. Producers include Story Factory’s Shane Salerno, Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, Raw’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis and Derrin Schlesinger. Raw’s Joely Fether will executive produce.

The transition from good to evil has fascinated writers for centuries. Forcing characters to dance on the line of morality has always intrigued audiences more than two-dimensional characters with simple moral compasses. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well-known for administering such dilemmas to their viewers through the characters they make.

Be it Kilmonger in Black Panther, Thanos’ noble motivations to wipe out half the universe, or the execution of the Punisher’s justice, it is difficult for fans to condemn some villains when their motivations are so complex. Despite this, there are a few characters that have stayed consistent over the years, even though the law would disagree.
Five of the main six Avengers have managed to always have a strong moral compass, ever since the 2011 film, and these traits have stayed consistent. However, it would seem that their actors have played parts that juxtapose their iconic roles.

It took Robert Downey Jr. a while to completely understand the ways of an iconic director – David Fincher.
David Fincher is one of the greatest filmmakers alive today thanks to his incredible eye for detail and dark, intelligent narratives in his films. He began his journey as a director with Alien 3 and then went on to blow everyone away with his 1995 film, Seven. He has also directed Gone Girl, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Fight Club, a film that is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon across the globe.

However, it is his 2007 release, Zodiac, that remains one of our all-time favorites. The film follows the story of the infamous Zodiac Killer and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo along with Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, David Fincher is notorious for doing retakes until the scene reaches perfection.

The trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film has arrived. The filmmaker has already followed up his Poor Things run with Kinds of Kindness, which reunites him with the Academy Award-winning star of his last film, Emma Stone, as well as her Poor Things co-star, Willem Dafoe. The new trailer from Searchlight Pictures displays the chaotic nature of the film, with all the clips feeling non-sequitur. And with Sweet Dreams providing the soundtrack for the trailer, it certainly hammers home the dream-like feeling of this abstract movie.
When director Yorgos Lanthimos and actress Emma Stone make a feature film together, Academy Award nominations follow. Their 2018 collaboration The Favourite was nominated in the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Production Design, Costume Design, Cinematography, and Editing categories, with supporting actresses Stone and Rachel Weisz also earning nominations and lead actress Olivia Colman taking home an Oscar for her performance. In Marvel Comics, the Hulk has had a ton of variants ranging from the fiercest one who can destroy universes to the smart one who thinks rationally and decides to merge with Bruce Banner on an agreeable settlement, as was seen in Avengers: Endgame. However, bringing them out to live-action isn’t the easiest of tasks, and even Smart Hulk garnered some negative publicity.

This negative publicity started from the fact that the way Banner was directly shown as the result of his getting merged with his angry alter-ego to become the Smart giant in green instead of showing just how this tremendous transformation took place. That said, had the Russo Brothers not ignored one crucial scene with Mark Ruffalo, this new transition would have arguably been a lot less messy.

Chris Hemsworth became a household name with the role of Thor the God of Thunder in the MCU. But his good looks came into question when the actor had to become fat Thor for Avengers: Endgame.

After the failure of the Avengers in trying to save the world from Thanos, while all the Og Avengers took it hard having lost some of their closest loved ones along with half the universe’s population, it was Hemsworth’s Thor who underwent the most drastic change. The Marvel Cinematic Universe lost its biggest hero when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man fell in Avengers: Endgame, but not after saving the day/Earth 616. Ever since then, the MCU has struggled to create the kind of projects that made it such a global success in the first place.
While most fans have asked for Kevin Feige and company to focus on originality and come up with new narratives that delve into the wealth of characters the Comics have on offer, some have also pressed for a Robert Downey Jr. return. Whether that is a potential option especially considering the actor’s own wishes, Feige had previously claimed they would ‘never want to mafically undo’ Stark’s heroic death.

Marvel star Mark Ruffalo has entered into negotiations to reunite with Chris Hemsworth on Amazon MGM Studio’s adaptation of ‘Crime 101.’
Based on author Don Winslow’s novella of the same name, the novella tells the story of a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway that has gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101”. Police attribute the thefts to the Colombian cartels. But Detective Lou Lubesnick’s gut says it’s the work of just one man.

Clipped, the dramatization of the real-life 2013 racism scandal of former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling adapted from both the real-world events and the ESPN 30 for 30 podcast covering them entitled The Sterling Affairs, presented a unique challenge for me as a critic because I don’t follow sports. I never have and what familiarity I do have is mostly related to Philadelphia teams, not Los Angeles.
So, having no prior knowledge or investment in the real-world story, though as far as I can tell it is largely accurate, the LA Clippers, or even professional basketball, would I be able to even follow the narrative, let alone get invested in it? The answer, shockingly enough, is yes. Clipped is a remarkably strong drama with some brilliant performances and a surprising amount of biting political commentary. How did they pull it off? Let’s discuss.

If Chris Evans hated one thing about his role as Captain America, it was the time he spent making public appearances for the promotions. Evans shared that his anxiety made him a less-than-ideal candidate for such appearances. He mostly avoided appearing in shows where he had to perform in front of an audience, which meant he was one of the few MCU lead stars not to host an SNL episode.

Jeremy Renner’s debut as Hawkeye in the MCU timeline began when he first appeared as Clint Barton in a brief role in 2011’s Thor. Thereafter, becoming a member of the Avengers, Hawkeye appeared in a bunch of Marvel movies. Remaining one of the three original Avengers in the MCU after Endgame, besides Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Renner went on to lead his own MCU project as Clint Barton.
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton in Hawkeye
While the other original Avengers got solo movies, Jeremy Renner starred in Disney’s Hawkeye. Released in 2021, the show earned a raging 7.5 IMDb rating with just one season. Now, following the commercial success of the show, it has been rumored that Hawkeye will return with a second season, where Clint Barton’s brother, Barney, will make his on-screen debut and have a major role. When Marvel released The Avengers in 2012, it was viewed as a risky gamble. Although it is now relatively simple for the MCU to release a big movie starring a large cast of A-list actors, the studio set a new precedent with The Avengers. While the MCU has done well at replicating that success, no other studio seems to have come close.
Even with the film’s phenomenal success and intriguing financial flow, it is still surprising that most people are ignorant of certain facts about it. At some point in our lives, each of us has been exposed to the idea of how much harm corporations can do. Of course, it is too naive to divide the world into clear-cut 'black' and 'white' as it is often portrayed in pop culture, but in the case of multinational corporations, history shows that all of this is far more than essentialist hyperbole.
Corporations, sometimes no less powerful and capitalized than some states, have shown their true colors time and time again, cynically seeking profit at any cost. Even if the price is the health and life of their own customers.
That's why feature films about corporations based on real events have a special value. Yes, sometimes documentaries reveal a much more objective view of the terrible truth, but let's be honest, the format of feature films allows to convey these or those ideas to the viewer much more effectively,...

Zack Snyder is now free of the weight of creating an expansive Dceu and had been doing his own thing for the past couple of years. While the director does not seem to be keen to enter the realm of big studio films anytime soon, Snyder fans would love to see him direct a Marvel flick sometime soon. His unique directorial style, understanding of complex action and emotional depth, and ability to draw out great performances from his cast make him a compelling choice for the job.

Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockman have never had an assignment like the one they faced with “All the Light They Cannot See,” the four-part Netflix wartime limited series that’s adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel from author Anthony Doerr. The UK-based casting directors were tasked with finding a pair of blind actors to play the dual lead role of Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl. Executive producer and director Shawn Levy was insistent that they go for strict authenticity in casting. And Netflix was very much onboard. Five years later, Marvel Studios released The Incredible Hulk, and retained elements of this Green Goliath's origin story (albeit with Edward Norton replacing Eric Bana).
