It’s October, so it’s time for two things: pumpkin spice on everything and the start of Christmas marketing. And just in time, the Norwegian holiday horror-comedy There’s Something in the Barn makes its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
Bill inherits his uncle’s house in Norway after the man dies in a freak accident. We, of course, know it was no accident, and soon enough so will Bill, his wife and Bill’s kids Nora and Lucas (Townes Bunner) will too.
They relocate from California to Norway with plans to open a bed and breakfast, but complications ensue. Both in the obvious cultural differences and, more ominously, what Lucas discovers living in the barn.

The Norwegian holiday horror movie There’s Something in the Barn is heading toward a November 10th theatrical release, and one month out from that date we’ve gotten our hands on a trailer for the film! You can check it out in the embed above.

Christmas horror movies don’t come around too often, but every now and then we get gems like Black Christmas, Gremlins, Rare Exports and Krampus. Magnus Martens‘ evil elf horror comedy There’s Something in the Barn tries to hit that holiday horror comedy sweet spot that falls somewhere between Gremlins and Krampus, but misses the mark on both counts. It winds up being a forgettable, if mildly amusing, movie that doesn’t seem to know which audience it’s playing to.
After inheriting his uncle’s estate in Norway, Bill (Martin Starr), his second wife Carol (Amrita Acharia) and their children Lucas (Townes Bunner) and Nora (Zoe Winther-Hansen) move into their new home with the dream of turning the property into a bed and breakfast. Happy Halloween, dear readers! Whether you’ll be out trick-or-treating, at home giving out candy, going to parties, or something else entirely, I hope you enjoy the holiday. Now, let’s take a look at the official trailer for the biggest movie of the rest of the year, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Premise: The Force Awakens is set approximately thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983), and features new leads Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) alongside characters returning from the previous Star Wars films.
My take: I love Star Wars, I’m excited for this, let’s get into it.
0:08-0:16: Rey (Daisy Ridley) exploring what is presumably the wrecked Star Destroyer we saw in the second teaser. Her protective gear is reminiscent of both the Tusken Raiders/Sand People and Leia’s bounty hunter...

And that is the trouble with hype, ladies and gentleman. Ever since the script and rough cut were leaked, Listen has been quietly talked up in fan circles (and more recently in the press) as one of Steven Moffat’s best episodes and also one of his scariest. A pair of accolades that it in no way lives up to.
While there’s nothing that makes Listen a noticeably bad episode, there’s also nothing that really takes it above being average. And the thing that really holds it back from having the chance of living up to its hype is that it’s far too scattershot
Although the plotlines intersect most of the time and advance alongside each other, the choice of including the bootstrap paradoxes concerning the main characters takes away too much attention from the monsters when the only one that’s really important to the...

Yesterday I went along to experience my first ever UK film convention. Earlier this year, I visited Wondercon in the Us which is the baby sister of the daddy of all movie conventions, Comic Con which is held annually in San Diego. Memorabilia is the smaller convention to the big McM Expo which takes place in London in October and since I’d missed that, I thought id try and go along to this one at the NEC in Birmingham.
I didn’t really know what to expect but as we arrived, 501st Legion were organising all the costumed characters from numerous movies (primarily Star Wars) that were present at the show which served as a rather cool welcome! Actor/stuntman Kiran Shah has become the world's smallest wingwalker after performing a gruelling 10 minute airborne stunt.
The four foot, two inches (1.2 metres) star, who has appeared in the Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones franchises, braved high speeds to step out on the wing of a plane at 1,000 feet (300 metres) to earn the title.
He says, "It was great, I loved it but next time I'll pick a warmer day. It was very cold up there. The wind was coming at me all the time and I could hardly lift my arms because of the g-force.
"I was nervous until I had the safety briefing. Once I know what I'm doing it's okay - it's the same with any stunt. I'm not bothered by heights because I've done high falls before. Flying is no problem for me either. I love any kind of action. The more dangerous the better."...
