Platon started his film career in 1992, freelancing as a 1st Assistant
Director and Production Manager on international and local feature
films, TV dramas, documentaries and commercials until 1996. During this
time he started his first company, Majita Films, producing short films
and music videos.
In 1997 he joined Big World Cinema as partner producing international and local feature films, TV dramas, short films and documentaries. Platon's previous films have won many awards and have been screened and nominated at Cannes, The Oscars®, Toronto, Berlin, Tribeca Film Festivals, and many more. His films have been screened all over the world including Discovery, Channel 4, ARTE, and at cinemas in the USA. He established the commercial branch of the company, producing and servicing local and international productions. Platon was also a partner of the Encounters Documentary Festival until 2009. After closing down the company in 2008, he line produced the latest feature film version of "Master Harold and the Boys", staring Freddie Highmore and Ving Rhames. Following this, he established his new company, Lucky Fish Productions; developing feature films and documentaries and also producing and services international and local commercials and corporate videos. He is currently producing "The Last Resort", a documentary based on the acclaimed novel, "The Last Resort" by Douglas Adams.
Platon is General Manager and board member of the Umculo Cape Festival.
