Compassion is in almost as short supply as water in Emin Alper’s sardonic, seething Un Certain Regard breakout “Burning Days,” a parched little parable about small-town corruption in chokingly patriarchal rural Turkey. Beginning and ending on the lip of a massive sinkhole on the village outskirts, and featuring a manhunt that echoes a wild boar hunt and a mirage-like lake whose waters may or may not be toxic, here, the cool filmmaking is subtler than the metaphors. But then, with mass detentions during the recent Turkish Pride celebrations still in the headlines, when it comes to homophobia, misogyny, masculine crisis and the other attendant cruelties of this strongman-led society, these are not subtle times.
A more genre-inflected movie than Alper’s Berlinale competition title “A Tale of Three Sisters”, “Burning Days” benefits from Alper’s sparse, boiled-dry screenplay and from Dp Christos Karamanis’s casually devastating widescreen photography. In an emblematically sweeping shot,...

Could Bonnie Bennett be dead?
That was a key question on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 15 when the bell from hell apparently killed our favorite psychic/witch.
TV Fanatics Justin Carreiro, Mandy Treccia and Paul Dailly, discuss the wedding, Bonnie's fate and what's to come in the series finale.
What did you think of the Steroline wedding?
Justin: The design of the wedding and the hall looked beautiful. I liked all the lights at the party. Though, it felt a bit awkward and anticlimactic. I was expecting a grander ceremony and moment, but it seemed sweet.
Mandy: I loved it. They did a lovely job paying homage to their relationship. The friendship that slowly turned to love, or in Caroline's case, the unrequited crush, which turned to love. The ceremony was beautiful, but the dance they shared was even better. Dancing always been their thing.

Dear Diary...
The Vampire Diaries has featured quite a few romances throughout its eight-year run on The CW, but some were way better than others.
Which were the Best? The Worst? Check out our ranking below...
1. Damon and Elena Who would have thought back when the series premiered that Elena would wind up with Damon? The pilot definitely set it all up to be a Stefan and Elena endgame. It's crazy how things change. With Elena waking up in the series finale, we're sure these two will get their happy ending, but will Damon become a human? 2. Klaus and Caroline Remember that time Klaus and Caroline got hot and heavy outside? Yes, we all do and for good reason: They are great together. Sure, their relationship is very, very underdeveloped, but I'm open to it being explored when Stefan dies. Stefan will not be Caroline's last love. 3. Stefan and Caroline At first,...

Does Stefan deserve to die?
That's something our panelists think about after The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 11, which featured the death of Enzo.
TV Fanatics Mandy Treccia, Justin Carreiro and Paul Dailly discuss Enzo's demise, Matt's rude comments and who else will fall before the series concludes.
What did you think of Enzo dying?
Mandy: I am devastated. But not surprised. As soon as they started his bucket list day, I assumed it would end this way. He deserved better.
Justin: My heart is broken. I didn’t want him to die. However, similar to what Mandy said, the second they were going through his bucket list, I figured a goodbye was a possibility.
Paul: Bonnie Bennett really has the worst luck, but I think her magic has returned and she'll find a way to get her happy ending. Whether that means creating an afterlife for her and Enzo, I have no idea.

Will Damon be able to find a way to get Stefan back?
That will be a huge question on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 11 when Cade makes his presence felt in Mystic Falls.
Apparently, he was not a fan of matt ringing the bell, so he wants the bell under his own control so he knows when someone is about to inflict hell on Mystic Falls.
Bonnie and Enzo will be out of town, trying to find a safe house for the bell, but Stefan will follow them to try and get a hold of it.
Cade reveals to Damon that he will need to murder one hundred people, or Caroline will be murdered.
This presents Damon with a tough decision as he tries to figure out the best course of action.
Would he really risk Caroline's life?

Woah! Where did that come from?
On The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 10, we got to go deep into Damon Salvatore's mind to uncover what was really going on for him and it was fantastic.
Previously, episodes which have featured the return of deceased characters have been pretty dull, but there was just something about this particular episode that got everything so right.
Damon knew very well that some of his actions were horrible. That's why he wanted his mind to be free of the supernatural creatures. It was surprising that Stefan's humanity was not switched on after witnessing Damon's pain.
Clearly, Damon blamed Stefan for enticing him to drink the blood all those years ago. Had Stefan just let him die, he would never have become the person that would kill people without questioning it.
The scene between Damon and Bonnie was heartbreaking, but so great at the same time.

Recently, CW served up this new, 2nd spoiler photo for their upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" premiere episode 1 of season 6, and it appears to be very intriguing, giving us a new look at Caroline having, what looks to be, an intense moment with Stefan. Previous spoilers have indicated that Caroline will end up, confronting Stefan about her romantic feelings for him.
