Larry Lamb is joining New Tricks on BBC1 as a replacement for Dennis Waterman.
The EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey actor will join Series 12 of the show in the second episode as former copper Ted Case.
He will join Tamzin Outhwaite, Denis Lawson and Nicholas Lyndhurst in the Ucos team.
Lamb said: "I'm thrilled to have been asked to join such a well-loved show. The writing and the cast are top notch, and I'm really looking forward to getting started."
Executive Producer Myar Craig-Brown added: "Larry is a fantastic addition to the show and Ted Case will slot in perfectly with Sacha, Steve and Dan in the Ucos team. ITV Studios will produce one-off TV movie The Psychopath Next Door for the UK’s Sky Living. Anna Friel (The Vatican, The Look Of Love) will play the glamorous titular character who moves into a suburban community where her magnetic personality hides her true nature. Described as darkly comic, the film is written by BAFTA winner Julie Rutterford. It will air in the fall as part of Sky’s Drama Matters block. Laila Rouass's Holby City character is to take a central role in the medical drama's 2011 storylines, series producer Myar Craig-Brown has revealed. Earlier this month, it was announced that the former Footballers' Wives and Primeval star had been cast as new regular character Sahira Shah, a brilliant surgeon and devoted mum. Holby City's new recruit Guy Henry has been filming with the medical drama's parent show Casualty, it has been announced. Henry's character Henrik Hanssen made his first appearance in Holby last month and has since been causing tension at the hospital as part of his new job as the joint director of surgery.
