Rejoice, old-school web video fans: Super Deluxe is coming back. The online video destination, which was folded into Adult Swim more than seven years ago, will return in some capacity, according to a new report from Variety.
The original Super Deluxe was launched in early 2007 and featured contributions from a variety of comedy notables, including Maria Bamford, Bob Odenkirk, Tim Heidecker, and Eric Wareheim. The result was an eclectic collection of short videos, web series, and animations, and Super Deluxe generated positive press--including some from us.
Unfortunately, Super Deluxe struggled to attract name recognition, and so Turner merged it with Adult Swim. It was relegated to a barely-working portal within the Adult Swim website, and we thought that would be the last we heard from Super Deluxe.
We thought wrong, because Turner is bringing Super Deluxe back. According to Variety, Turner started staffing the revived venture last year, and it...

CBS Films will cede its wide-release distribution operations to Lionsgate beginning in 2015 as part of a multiyear output agreement the two companies unveiled this morning. The deal kicks in with CBS Films’ teen comedy The Duff that is due out early next year. After that pic, Lionsgate will also take over exclusive international sales for all CBS titles.
Under terms of the deal, the boutique CBS Films will still acquire or produce films and shepherd marketing efforts under president Terry Press. Lionsgate in turn will oversee distribution across all media including theatrical and home entertainment and add a new source of branded wide-release films for its pipelines.
“Making movies is only half of the equation – today’s marketplace demands a strategic approach to marketing and distribution that is fluid and creative, and no company has demonstrated more vision and innovation than Lionsgate,” Press said in the release announcing the deal.

CBS Films has acquired the U.S. rights to Michael Dowse's "The F Word" starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan, the company announced. The film made its premiere at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival this week where Indiewire enjoyed the chemistry between the two stars. Based on the play "Toothpaste and Cigars" by T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi, "The F Word" tells the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Radcliffe) who finds himself repeatedly unlucky in love. He strikes up a friendship with an animator named Chantry (Kazan) who, as a result of having a boyfriend, keeps Wallace in the dreaded "Friend Zone." But as per usual in many romantic comedies, friendships between men and women tend to veer into sexual tension the longer they attempt to avoid it. "This is a romantic comedy for a new generation that calls to mind classics like 'Say Anything' and 'When Harry Met Sally,...

Updated: A new Red Band trailer and poster for "Inside Llewyn Davis" have just been released. Check out both below. Earlier: CBS Films is finally going to show its true colors under new co-presidents Terry Press and Wolfgang Hammer. They scooped up the Coen brothers' latest indie feature, "Inside Llewyn Davis," with an eye on award season. One reason it has a shot: it's about the struggles of an artist, a Village folk musician.
