Exclusive: Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding will play Mr. Elliot opposite Dakota Johnson’s Anne Elliot in Netflix and MRC’s modern feature take of Jane Austen’s classic novel Persuasion.
In the Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow penned script, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities, living with her snobby family who are on the brink of bankruptcy. When Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she once sent away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances. I hear what attracted Golding to the role was the opportunity to play against type; Mr. Elliot being the callous and classic Austen foil.
As previously announced, Carrie Cracknell, who directed Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge to Tony nominations in 2019 in Sea Wall/ A Life on Broadway, will make her feature directorial debut here with Persuasion.

The CW’s revamped (get it?) “Lost Boys” pilot has cast one of its lead roles.
Lincoln Younes has been cast in the series as Benjamin, the charismatic leader of the gang of vampires in a seemingly idyllic North Carolina seaside town. Younes’ role is most similar to the role of David in the 1987 film version of “The Lost Boys,” who was played by Kiefer Sutherland.
Younes most recently starred in the ABC drama series “Grand Hotel.” He is also known for starring in shows like “Home and Away,” “Tangle,” and “Hiding” in his native Australia. He is repped by Megan Silverman Management, United Management in Australia, and Hamilton Hodell in the U.K.
The CW gave “The Lost Boys” a pilot order back in January. The network had previously ordered a “Lost Boys” pilot last season before ultimately passing. The CW remained high on the project, however, and decided to redevelop it.

“Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding is in early talks to star in Paramount’s “G.I. Joe” spinoff, “Snake Eyes,” sources tell Variety.
“The Captain” director Robert Schwentke is helming and Brian Goldner is producing. Evan Spiliotopoulos, who wrote “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Huntsman: Winter’s War,” penned the script.
Snake Eyes is a silent ninja commando who dresses in all black, never reveals his face and doesn’t speak. He stands out among the military anti-terrorist group and quickly establishes himself as the group’s most popular member. He also has a special relationship with Scarlett, the team’s one-time only female member, and sometimes carries out solo missions with his pet wolf, Timber. His archenemy is Storm Shadow, a ninja who is also his blood brother.
The pic, based on the Hasbro toys of the same name, would mark the third “G.I. Joe” film Paramount has produced in the last decade,...
