Breakup at a Wedding shows Vic (actually director Victor Quinaz) as he captures the events that happen around the wedding between Phil Havemeyer (Philip Quinaz) and Alison Jones (Alison Fyhrie). Being the type of videographer that goes super in depth, Vic captures everything, including Alison having a massive panic attack and telling Phil in supposed privacy that she wanted out; she couldn’t go through with the wedding. Together, they decide to have the wedding anyway but not sign the marriage contract, so that everyone thinks they’re married why legally they’re not. However, Phil is more than reluctant about this, and hatches a plan to end up married.

Those who believe weddings to be exorbitant, empty spectacles have a fair-weather friend in writer-director Victor Quinaz, whose inventive debut, Breakup at a Wedding, attempts an aloof, smirking pose but surrenders to sentimentality in the end. The setup is rom com meets reality TV: Over 28-some hours, a cynical wedding videographer (Quinaz) narrates and records the disintegrating nuptials of aspiring yuppies Alison (Alison Fyhrie) and Phil (Philip Quinaz). The resulting mockumentary is suitably ugly, with the jerky rhythms, awkward close-ups, and palm-rubbing schadenfreude so common to TLC programming. Thankfully, no Bridezillas abound; instead, the pair believably break up during the rehearsal dinner, with the bride-to-be confessing she's just been going through the motions i...

Oscilloscope Laboratories has released the first poster for their comedy which tells of Alison (Alison Fyhrie) who, on the eve of their wedding, gets cold feet and decides to break up with her fiancé Phil (Philip Quinaz). But rather than face the embarrassment of calling off the ceremony, Alison suggests to Phil that they proceed with a sham wedding. Phil is more than game to try, secretly hoping that a surprise gift he has for Alison will ultimately change her mind. Yet once the guests begin to arrive, more complications ensue than either of them could have ever imagined - even if they did know their wedding was bullshit. Before the Door Productions, Zachary Quinto‘s production shingle, premiered it’s first movie at Sundance this year. Margin Call, starring Kevin Spacey and Paul Bettany (our review here), was eventually picked up by Roadside Attractions for a fall release and nominated for a Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, it proved the fledgling company was worth keeping an eye on.
Now, Deadline reports Before the Door is teaming with commercial and trailer company Anonymous Content to finance a second film. The as of now untitled film will be a found-footage style romantic comedy featuring players from the Periods Films web shorts. Helmed by first-time director Victor Quinaz and written by Quinaz, Anna Martemucci and Philip Quinaz, it will combine scripted and improv comedy.
Other than those few details, the premise of the untitled film has been kept tightly under wraps. Shooting begins today in New York. Before...
