Nathaniel Kunkel is an LA-based producer, engineer, mixer and 5.1
surround mixer. His "Studio Without Walls" concept provides mobile
recording and mixing services to an illustrious list of performers.
"Studio Without Walls" has mixed in more unconventional settings and
produced more hits than most seasoned recording facilities. Nathaniel's
success has earned him the reputation of being one of the foremost
authorities on engineering in surround sound. From the technical to the
creative, Nathaniel's cutting edge approach to surround sound elevates
this format. Nathaniel's mix work has garnered him industry acclaim and
awards, including Grammy awards for his work with
Lyle Lovett,
B.B. King, The Trio
(Emmylou Harris,
Linda Ronstadt and
Dolly Parton), and comedian
Robin Williams; Surround Music
Awards for his work with
Graham Nash,
James Taylor and
Insane Clown Posse; and an Emmy for
his recent work with Sting. Multi-platinum
producer, Michael Beinhorn, said this
about working with Nathaniel, "Of all the engineers I've worked with in
over 20 years of producing records, Nathaniel is one of the very few
who possess virtually every significant attribute one can hope for
under that job description. Aside from his obvious engineering and
technical skills, Nate is unflappable in a recording studio and (wonder
of wonders!) possesses a pair of very astute, accurate and musical
ears. There is another thing about Nate that sets him even further
apart from his peers; the innate ability to embrace new ways of doing
things and a constant desire to develop his craft.
