Philip Sheppard is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and virtuoso cellist who has composed scores for film, documentary, video games, television, and theatre; and has worked with distinctive music visionaries including UNKLE, ODESZA, Model Man, and Scott Walker.
His score for In the Shadow of the Moon received an International Film Critics Award nomination for Best Original Score for a Documentary and won numerous accolades including the Sundance Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary. His music has covered a stunning variety of other documentary subjects as well: Bobby Fischer Against the World about the late chess master, tragic sports/war doc The Tillman Story, and the intimate Love, Marilyn about the personal journals and letters of Marilyn Monroe.
Easily adaptable between mediums, Philip's TV docuseries credits include the Emmy-nominated HBO's thrilling Golden State Killer true crime I'll Be Gone in the Dark as well as Human Universe exploring answers to some of mankind's most profound questions. He also applied his impeccable talent to score the critically acclaimed Quantic Dream video game Detroit: Become Human.
Aside from his extensive media credits, Philip has also produced, conducted, musical directed and arranged many large scale and complex live events including the 2008 Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, the national anthems for the 2012 London Olympics, the Tour de France, and the Rugby World Cup.
