There are, of course, countless ways in which to wrap a vampire story in new clothes -- and yes, "countless" was meant as a pun (sorry) -- but you have to give the new German import Bela Kiss: Prologue some credit: not many vampire stories manage to revolve around Wwi battlefield atrocities and a modern-day story about bank robbers who hole up in a secret hotel in which everyone assumes an ominous nickname... with a bunch of romantic entanglements, double-crosses, and gruesome murders tossed in to keep things weird.
And just as you'd expect from a movie called Bela Kiss: Prologue, things do get pretty weird. Suffice to say that Bela Kiss is a crazy murdering lunatic who somehow seems to pop up decade after decade -- without aging! (I think.) The killer's secret resides within a collection of large creepy canisters, but for all intents and purposes, Bela is practically immortal,...

There is an element of style that takes over Lucien Förstner’s Bela Kiss: Prologue, the assumed first film of a continuing story based on the myth behind the titled Hungarian serial killer. While the special effects consume the atmosphere during a portion of the narrative, there is also some really good photography and editing that makes the German production feel larger than it actually is. Förstner unfortunately extends the film, hurting the pacing of the slow-churning tale, to an overlong 106 minutes. The pacing issue, along with a mediocre script, keeps “Bela Kiss” from exceeding expectations.
The film begins with a composed stock footage summary of the investigation into the crimes of the infamous Bela Kiss. The film quickly transitions into a diverging story about a group of bank robbers retreating to a hotel deep in the woods. While waiting for further orders from an unseen boss, the group partakes...

We've been talking about Bela Kiss: Prologue, based on the famous true story of a Hungarian serial killer, for a while; and now that it's heading to VOD in just a few days, we have some stills and the trailer to share.
The story of the real Bela Kiss is notoriously known around the world and now, on the 100th anniversary, has been brought to the screen. The unfolding of events takes place in the Hungarian countryside and stars Kristina Klebe (Halloween, Zone of the Dead) and Rudolf Martin (Swordfish, "NCIS") as Bela Kiss. Bela Kiss: Prologue is written and directed by Lucien Förstne.
Synopsis:
Bela Kiss was one of the most brutal serial killers who ever lived, having killed 23 young women during the beginning of World War I. Their blood-drained bodies were found in metal barrels, conserved in alcohol, while Bela Kiss was never found. According to rumors he has been seen,...

Shock Till You Drop has announced that their acquisition, Bela Kiss: Prologue will be released digitally and on demand beginning December 3rd.
Bela Kiss continues the story of Bela Kiss, a Hungarian serial killer who was said to have killed at least 24 young women at the beginning of the 20th century, drained them of blood, and stored their bodies in metal barrels on his property. He evaded capture at every turn and to this day, the date, location, and cause of his death have never been discovered. This is where Bela Kiss: Prologue steps in. The film is set almost a century later: "Five bank robbers search for a hideaway in a remote hotel as they flee from the police. Brutal and unforeseen events take over and build a bridge to the past. The assumed safe house turns into a nightmare...is Bela Kiss still alive?"

Why so much artwork for just one story? Doesn't each title merit its own space on the news block? Of course, however, the above-mentioned titles are a bit of a special case.
Simply put, when it comes to this latest bonanza of Afm sales art for The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, Witching and Bitching, Bela Kiss, Saturday Morning Massacre, Exit to Hell, and All Hallows' Eve, each falls into one of three camps:
Camp A - You've already seen this artwork, but it's been slightly tweaked.
Camp B - Said artwork is the same but with English translations of their foreign titles.
Camp C - This is all-new artwork for movies that are already out here in the States that are looking for foreign distribution.
Get where we're going? Good! Scroll away for the eye candy!

Exclusive: Continental Media, run by partners Matthew Shreder and James Andrew Felts, has closed an all-rights deal with Tony Taglienti’s 4Digital Media for the vampire-serial killer story.
Bela Kiss stars Kristina Klebe and Rudolf Martin and was directed by Lucien Forstner.
The film is set against the legend of the serial killer Bela Kiss as five bank robbers hide out in a remote hotel on the run from police
Bela Kiss slaughtered 23 young women at the start of the First World War and left their blood-drained bodies in metal barrels, conserved in alcohol.
He was never found but according to rumour has been spotted over the decades in different parts of the world. The film weaves together past and present.
“Tony Taglienti is one of the UK’s most committed distributors,” said Felts. “His ability to adapt within the changing distribution landscape sets him apart from his UK competition.”
