Of Iranian descent, he was born in Boulder, Colorado, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Madison West High School and was a city boys high school tennis champion. Nowrasteh attended New Mexico State University on an athletic scholarship and later transferred to the University of Southern California to attend the School of Cinematic Arts. He is married to wife Elizabeth G. Nowrasteh commonly referred to as "Betsy." Nowrasteh's oldest son, Alex Nowrasteh, is an immigration policy analyst working at the Cato Institute. Nowrasteh's younger son, Mark Nowrasteh, studied in the UCLA Playwriting program. Mark's first play The Emperor & The Apostle will have its theatrical debut in Austin, Texas in Fall, 2013. Mark has also been hired by Rise Entertainment to write his first screenplay for a motion picture, for delivery in early 2014.
Nowrasteh began his career writing on the CBS television series, The Equalizer. He went on to work on other series (Falconcrest, D.E.A.), and wrote the pilot for the USA Network show La Femme Nikita (1996). He also worked on independent films such as the American/Brazilian production The Interview (1997, writer/co-producer), which played at Sundance and on the Showtime network; and Norma Jean, Jack and Me (1998), a film that was not theatrically released but played the festival circuit and aired on HDNet. In 2001 he wrote and directed the highly-rated, award-winning Showtime presentation The Day Reagan Was Shot, which starred Richard Dreyfuss as Alexander Haig and was executive produced by Oliver Stone. The following year he wrote 10,000 Black Men Named George, the story of the Pullman strike of the 1930s, for Showtime.
For both of the above films Nowrasteh received the Pen USA West Literary Award for Best Teleplay-the only writer in the history of the Pen awards to win two years in a row in the same category. The Day Reagan Was Shot also received the Eddie Award and the Golden Satellite Award for Best Motion Picture for Television, 2001, as well as a SAG nomination for Best Actor (Richard Dreyfuss). Nowrasteh also wrote the "Manifest Destiny" episode of the highly regarded (16 Emmy nominations) Steven Spielberg and TNT miniseries presentation, Into the West. Following that Nowrasteh wrote and produced the controversial ABC miniseries The Path to 9/11. He then went on to co-write (with his wife, Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh), and direct the film The Stoning of Soraya M., released in 2009 by Lionsgate Films.
Nowrasteh was attacked by Conservatives for an alleged "liberal bias" in his Showtime film, The Day Reagan Was Shot. Former Reagan National Security Advisor, Richard Allen, led the charge with a piece in the Wall Street Journal (December 14, 2001), accusing Nowrasteh and Executive Producer Oliver Stone of "yet another dubious Oliver Stone production" and referring to it as "The Day They Shot the Truth." Mr. Allen based his piece on tapes he had kept from that day, releasing only six minutes to support his position. Nowrasteh responded in the Los Angeles Times (December 24, 2001) and a letter to the editor in the Wall Street Journal (January 2, 2002), "the clear solution is to have Allen release the entire unedited tape and allow anyone to make the comparisons and draw whatever conclusions seem warranted." Nowrasteh concluded his Los Angeles Times piece by writing, "The Day Reagan Was Shot provides the first-ever dramatization of a constitutional crisis and government cover up (both amply supported by facts) and the threat they pose to a nation when a president becomes incapacitated. This is important and relevant and raises issues that should be discussed openly."
Nowrasteh was attacked by Liberals for an alleged "conservative bias" in his controversial ABC docudrama The Path to 9/11, which he wrote and co-produced. Nowrasteh describes himself as more libertarian than conservative or liberal.
The Stoning of Soraya M. was condemned and banned by the Iranian government but thousands of copies were bootlegged into the country and it became an underground hit in Iran - forcing the government to put a temporary moratorium on stoning as a punishment, most notably in the Sakineh Ashtiani case.
The Stoning of Soraya M. had its world premiere at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won Runner-up for the Audience Choice Award. It also won Second Runner-up for the Cadillac People's Choice Award, as well as the Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival. The film also won the Heartland Truly Moving Picture Award, and the 2009 Ghent Film Festival's Canvas Audience Award. At the 2009 Satellite Awards, it was named one of the year's Top Ten Films and nominated for Best Drama Film, while its star Shohreh Agdashloo won Best Actress in a Drama. In 2010, the film was hailed as one of Movieguide's Ten Best 2009 Movies for Mature Audiences and was the co-winner, with Invictus (film), of Movieguide's Faith and Freedom Award for Promoting Positive American Values for 2009. It also shared, with "Women in Shroud," the Cinema for Peace Award for Justice in conjunction with the Berlin Film Festival and won Outstanding Foreign Motion Picture at the NAACP Image Awards.
Nowrasteh is developing a film adaptation of The Last Campaign, Thurston Clarke's account of Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign.
Nowrasteh is working on an adaptation of Anne Rice's novel Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt that he will adapt (with wife Betsy) and direct. The project grew out of a rave review Ms. Rice wrote of the film, The Stoning of Soraya M., on her Facebook page. Through her agent her novel was sent to the Nowrasteh's and they agreed to pursue it, setting the project up with 1492 Pictures and CJ Entertainment.
His most notable other project is a film about Andrew Jackson entitled The Battle of New Orleans. He is partnered with producer/manager Alan Siegel and Gerard Butler has expressed interest in portraying Jackson who led a ragtag army in defeating the British at New Orleans on January 8, 1815.- Jennifer Lyon was born on 27 February 1972 in Boulder City, Nevada, USA. Justin Torkildsen portrays Rick Forrester, son of Eric Forrester and Brooke Logan, on The Bold and the Beautiful. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Justin learned to ski at the age of two and continued to enjoy outdoor activities as he grew up, including ski racing, ice hockey, track, skateboarding, rollerblading, mountain biking and rock climbing. He also had a wonderful opportunity teaching handicapped people to ski. Justin attended Boulder High, where he was an all-star baseball player and earned a letter managing the girls' swim team. He also dressed up as the school mascot, a panther, for football and basketball games. Justin's first acting experience came about after he answered an audition call for a local dinner theater. Armed with just a Polaroid photo of himself, he won the lead child role of Louis in The King and I. Other local theater parts followed and he received classical training in his roles in Shakespeare's Henry V and Richard III. Justin has made quite a splash in commercial modeling, landing an important ad campaign for Nautica, who featured Justin modeling outdoor gear on their website and in 7-story all billboards in Times Square and other locations in New York, as well as Chicago and Boston. Television talk-show host Roseanne saw one of these ads and booked him as a guest on her show where she put him through a dating-game segment. Other commercial jobs include a U.S national commercial for Nintendo's Gameboy. Justin first came to the attention of B&B when his agent sent in a tape for a different role and they remembered him when they were recasting the character of Rick Forrester. The producers were obviously struck by his physical similarities to the previous actor in the role, but were even more impressed with his acting opposite Ashley Cafagna (Kimberley) in the screen test and he got the role. Justin has found a place to live in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles and is spending his free time writing a screenplay with his best friend. He has already written and performed stand-up comedy routines at Comedy Works in Denver, The Ice House in Pasadena, and The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. He loves to write comedy and seeing the resulting smiles on people's faces. Justin loves cars, especially his 1978 Land Cruiser.- Producer

Jello Biafra is a compelling, enigmatic public speaker and musician. He has sung for many bands: his first band, Dead Kennedys, was a seminal early punk band and continues to define and influence American punk rock and its beneficiaries. A leader and follower of the "Do It Yourself" punk ethic of music production, he founded the Alternative Tentacles record label, which published the entire Dead Kennedys' catalog, and continues to publish established and emerging talent. As a practical joke, Biafra entered the San Francisco mayoral election in 1979, and came in fourth out of ten candidates. Biafra was a casualty in a right-wing U.S. cultural movement of the 1980s to censor adult content from recorded music and associated materials. Biafra was charged and exonerated in court on a charge of "Distribution of Harmful Matter to Minors", namely, an album containing a poster of "Penis Landscape" by H.R. Giger. The police raid on Biafra's home and his subsequent trial became an underlying theme of Biafra's public speeches and lyrics.- Buxom and shapely 5'3" redhead stunner Sarah Grant Brendecke was born in Boulder, Colorado. - Eugene O'Brien, the silent screen matinée idol, was born Louis O'Brien in Boulder, Colorado in 1881, to police marshal John O'Brien and his wife Kate. He studied medicine at the University of Colorado in order to realize his family's ambition that he should become a physician. O'Brien's first love, however, was the stage, but his family disapproved of acting as a profession. He was not keen on becoming a doctor, so he proved to be an unenthusiastic student. After flunking pre-med, O'Brien switched to civil engineering under his family's guidance, but his heart was still set on becoming an actor.
Elitch's Gardens in Denver, a minor stock company, hired the handsome, 21-year-old college-dropout for a minor acting role in 1902, and Louis O'Brien became a professional actor (he later changed his name to Eugene). He moved to New York City, where he was hired by a vaudeville house to be part of a singing quartet in a play, in the role of a Hungarian soldier. After his stint as a chorus boy, his rich baritone voice enabled him to work his way up in the musical comedy genre to small, singing roles. As he learned the ropes of the Broadway stage, he began to make a name for himself as a dramatic actor as well.
Paradoxical, he was "discovered" by theatrical impresario Charles Frohman four years after he had appeared in Frohman's 1905 Broadway musical "The Rollicking Girl". Frohman, one of the great theatrical managers of the times, signed O'Brien to a three-year contract and put him in "The Builder of Bridges," which opened on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre on October 26, 1909.
A New York critic, commenting on his progress in 1909, wrote, "Less than three months ago, the name of Eugene O'Brien had about as much significance for Broadway theatergoers as that of the most obscure actor in some far-off rural community. Yet, in one single night, he achieved a success, the glory of which must ring in his ears yet." Frohman co-starred O'Brien opposite one of the greatest actresses of all times, Ethel Barrymore, in a revival of Sir Arthur Wing Pinero's play "Trelawny of the "Wells," which opened at the Empire Theatre on New Year's day, 1911, He had reached the pinnacle of the acting profession in the theater.
O'Brien's first film, Essanay Films "The Lieutenant Governor," in which he had the starring role, played in Boulder's Currant Theater in February 1915, giving his family its first opportunity to see him act. Then, World Film Corp. chief executive Lewis J. Selznick made O'Brien a screen star, putting him in an adaptation of Wilkie Collins' "The Moonstone" for his next movie, and then producing or releasing many of his subsequent pictures.
Very handsome, with a thick head of light brown hair, the blue-eyed O'Brien became a leading man opposite some of the leading female stars of the day, including Mary Pickford, Norma Talamadge, and Gloria Swanson. A female reporter who interviewed the six-foot, 160-lb. star on the set of Selznick Pictures' "The Perfect Lover" (1919), in which he co-starred with Martha Mansfield and three other actresses, declared that he was "only a bit better looking than I ever imagined any man could be."
He appeared in the Mary Pickford classic "Rebecca Of Sunnybrook Farm 1917), for Pickford's own company and Paramount, as well as in her earlier "Poor Little Peppina" (1916), of which it was said in the hyperbolic bombast of the times "Film has not been seen since its release date." But it was as Talmadge's co-star that he was most remembered, making 11 pictures with her between "Poppy" in 1917 and "Graustark" in 1925. Typically, the Talmadge-O'Brien pictures were made by Talmadge's own company (either Norma Talmadge Film Corp. or Joseph M. Schenck Productions, both of which were run by her husband, Joe Schenck) and released through one of Selznick's companies, or First National after Selznick's bankruptcy.
In the enviable position of being both The Boss and Married to the Boss, Talmadge was featured in strong roles in first-rate pictures, so O'Brien got to prove his acting chops and his versatility. The rumor in the industry was that Talmadge's husband Joe, jealous and anxious about being cuckolded, preferred to hire gay leading men for Talmadge's films. O'Brien and four-time costar Harrison Ford were the prominent names on this rumored "pink-list." Indeed, Shenck's fear of cuckoldry was not unfounded, as his wife did fall in love with Gilbert Roland, whom Schenck had hired to co-star as young-lover Armand Duval opposite her "Camille" (1926).
Eventually, O'Brien reached silent screen superstar status. His life was insured for a million dollars, and he made "an almost unbelievable salary." While he told the press that he preferred acting for a live audience than acting in the movies, and that he longed to return to the legitimate theater, he retired from acting for good, both movies and the stage, when the talkies came in. He made his last film, "Faithless Lover," in 1928. He was 47 years old.
The next year, the former star bought a Hollywood hacienda and moved in. A private man, he told a reporter that he liked his new life as he could do as he pleased whenever he wanted to do, and enjoyed his mornings being alone as opposed to being on a movie set. O'Brien, who said he'd never get married as women were too possessive, declared that he was "untroubled by girls and reveling in athletics, gardening, and most of all in bachelorhood."
Eugene O'Brien made a final visit to his hometown of Boulder, where he was thought of as a hometown hero, in 1952, to attend the funeral of his brother George. He died in 1966 at the age of 85, and although his funeral was held in Hollywood, his body was interred in the family plot in Boulder's Green Mountain Cemetery, next to next to his parents and brothers. The Prodigal son had returned home at last. - Actor
