Anya Taylor-Joy, the 27-year-old actress best known for her role in The Queen’s Gambit, has just tied the knot with 29-year-old singer and musician Malcolm McRae in Venice, Italy.
According to the Daily Mail, who caught the event on camera, the couple exchanged their vows at the Palazzo Pisani Moretta, a popular historic venue, and celebrated with their close friends and relatives. Among the guests were familiar names such as Cara Delevingne, Nicholas Hoult, Julia Garner, Evan Ross and more.
They also reportedly had Bollywood star Ranveer Singh sing at their wedding. He sang covers of American singer Sufjan Stevens‘ newest record, Javelin.
Photographs captured Taylor-Joy’s custom-made Dior floral gown, an embroidered beige dress and a long veil. The dress also distinctly had a bird on the top half of her dress. She was seen posing on a balcony.

Right before the Disney takeover happened, Fox were busy creating a host of new X-Men spinoffs. Among them was a solo movie for Kitty Pryde which was to be helmed by Deadpool director Tim Miller. Of course, now that the rights to mutantkind are resting with Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige is expected to wipe the slate clean and come up with his own projects that will fit into the McU. But is there a chance that Miller could make his Kitty Pryde film for Marvel?
Well, no, to put it plainly. Miller spoke to ComicBook.com about his love of the X-Men franchise and his enthusiasm for what he was going to do with Kitty. And it turns out the filmmaker is under no illusion that it’ll actually happen now.

Thanks in part to the recent success of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum – not to mention the new Toy Story 4 – Keanu Reeves is currently one of the internet’s favorite, most meme-able film stars. So when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told ComicBook.com earlier this month that he and his team have approached the actor for almost every movie they make, it was all too predictable that the fancasts would come flooding in.
Over on Twitter, for instance, we’ve seen a vast array of suggestions that range from Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four to Namor to Adam Warlock. Apparently, there’s an abundance of ways in which Marvel Studios could make use of the Matrix star, but until an actual casting decision is confirmed, fans can still get a kick out of imagining what might be.

The road to the ‘Gambit‘ solo film just got a little longer, as Gore Verbinski (A Cure for Wellness) has become the latest director to leave the film. THR is reporting that the long-gestating project is now in search for a new director. Back in 2015, we discussed who we thought should play Gambit in his solo film, but shortly thereafter, Channing Tatum closed a deal to produce and star as the titular character. Shortly thereafter, director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) joined the project, but left soon thereafter due to “creative differences”, as the studio and director had different visions for the film.
Next, Doug Lyman jumped aboard the project in August 2016, but was unable to find “a personal connection to the story” while developing the film. The film then was re-conceptualized after having massive success with R-rated superhero properties in both ‘Deadpool‘ and ‘Logan‘. Verbinski...

20th Century Fox has revealed some changes to their upcoming comic book movie release schedule with new dates for Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and Gambit. Come inside to learn more!
Hot on the heels of the news that Gore Verbinski has dropped out of the director slot for Gambit (marking the Third director the film has gone through), Fox has revealed a change up to their release date schedule, which has been reported on by THR. Understandably, Gambit has been pushed back and will no longer release on Feb. 14, 2019, instead moving a prime Summer spot later that year, June 7, 2019.
That's not the only comic book movie on their slate that's moved, however, as Josh Boone's upcoming New Mutants, which was slated to hit in just a few months won't be released until Next year on February 22, 2019. It's a big move, especially since the marketing machine has already begun for the film.

…and another one bites the dust. If it wasn’t already, “Gambit” is becoming something of a joke on the 20th Century Fox lot. In the works for years, the film has already been through two directors (Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman), a missed release date in 2016, and had at least one overhaul of the script (thanks to the R-rated success of “Deadpool” and “Logan“).

Gore Verbinski has stepped away from directing the “X-Men” spin-off “Gambit,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. Channing Tatum stars in the film set for a Valentine’s Day 2019 release. Verbinski joined the project in October following Rupert Wyatt’s departure in October 2015 and Doug Liman in August 2016. Tatum will play the titular mutant superhero, who wields a bo staff and can throw energy-charged cards at his enemies and was a member of a thieves guild before reforming and joining the X-Men. The Gambit solo movie has come back from the dead more times than Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers combined. Though Channing Tatum has remained a constant, the film has cycled through pretty much every available director in Hollywood, coming close to full production on multiple occasions before creative clashes and scheduling conflicts sent the studio back to the drawing board.
But things have been looking promising as of late. Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski signed on to helm and a release date of February 14th, 2019 was announced. With things gearing up to head into production shortly, it seemed like the project was finally – finally! – about to get off the ground. That is, until Gambit hit yet another roadblock today, with Deadline reporting that Verbinski has now dropped out, leading us to believe that this spinoff is indeed cursed.

A generic spy story becomes an inspired light comedy with the application of great talent led by the star-power of Walter Matthau. Matthau’s CIA spook hooks up with old flame Glenda Jackson to retaliate against his insufferable CIA boss (Ned Beatty) with a humiliating tell-all book about the agency’s dirty tricks history. Matthau’s sloppy, slouchy master agent is a comic delight; Ronald Neame’s stylishly assured direction makes a deadly spy chase into a wholly pleasant romp.

Sean Witzke has put together the following video essay exploring the work of Brian De Palma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams and Brad Bird over the Mission: Impossible franchise and it's a fascinating study of influence from a director's perspective and what has come of the franchise, primarily following Abrams' taking over ever since Mission: Impossible III. Witzke spends a ton of time exploring De Palma's contributions and influences when it comes to Mission: Impossible (1996) and as he moves on the time spent on each film decreases, which is interesting in and of itself. Talk of the influence of Alfred Hitchcock on all the films, as well as Ronald Neame's Gambit, Jules Dassin's Topkapi (which I have not seen, but desperately need to) and Roman Polanski's Macbeth are all referenced and he also discusses, as I have before, the fact Woo's Mission: Impossible II is essentially a...

★☆☆☆☆ Johnny Depp continues his descent into self-parody with the mawkish and turgid caper Mortdecai (2015) from director David Koepp. Based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's 1970's comic novels, it follows the misadventures of the dodgy art dealer Charlie Mortdecai. He is a buffoonish British aristocrat who gives dear Johnny plenty of scope to up-the-ante on his long list of insufferably tiresome character performances. Like the Mad Hatter, Jack Sparrow and Willy Wonka before, he seems all too at home with the eccentricities of the role; complete with plummy British accent, twittering facial whiskers, and nods to the films Peter Sellers, Ronald Neame's Gambit (1966) and its 2012 remake.

From the posters to the film, there is something ancient about "Gambit". Released in November 2012 in Europe and America, it has hit the Indian theatres a good 10 months late.
A remake of a 1966 movie of the same name starring Shirley Maclaine and Michael Caine, this comedy-crime caper does not offer anything exceptional to the original premise.
The film begins somewhere in Texas where a harassed art appraiser, Harry Deane (Colin Firth) is making plans to dupe his abusive boss, the multi-millionaire media Moghul and art collector Lord Lionel Shahbandar (Alan Rickman).

Now You See Me, a crime caper starring Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson as bank robbing magicians, enthralled Australian audiences last weekend, replicating its global success.
The comedy, which co-stars Michael Caine as a rich guy who despatches the gang to Las Vegas where they are pursued by an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) and an Interpol agent (Mélanie Laurent), conjured up $4 million including previews.
A change of pace and tone for French director Louis Leterrier (best known for the Transporter action flicks, Clash of the Titans and The Incredible Hulk), the film has raked in more than $US255 million worldwide: more than enough for Lionsgate to green light a sequel.
Pain & Gain, the Michael Bay-directed action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie, muscled into cinemas with a respectable $1.75 million.

★☆☆☆☆ In an interview alongside American co-star Cameron Diaz, British Oscar-winner Colin Firth expressed that he, "felt it would be nice to do a comedy". This flavourless sentiment echoes throughout the dreary, vacuous and painfully goofy scenes of the farcical Gambit (2012). A bizarre joint venture between the acclaimed Coen brothers, who penned the screenplay, and Michael Hoffman in the director's chair, Gambit is supposed to be a light-hearted refresh of Ronald Neame's 1966 caper film, but is instead wrong-footed by daftness. Firth plays art curator Harry Deane, a pastiche of the original character played by Michael Caine back in the 60s.

Sometimes, films just go wrong. Gambit, for example, is a lightweight con-man caper with a star-studded cast and a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen, so it sounds as if should be a fun night out. It isn't. From the opening scenes – which have been cut to confetti in the editing suite and then sticky-taped together with yards of voiceover – it's obvious not only that the film isn't working, but that the people behind it knew it wasn't working. What's particularly sad is that the project, nominally a remake of a Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine vehicle from the Swinging Sixties, has been in development for 14 years.

This is a flat-footed remake of a mildly amusing 1966 caper movie starring Michael Caine as a cockney conman posing as an aristocrat who hires chorus girl Shirley MacLaine to help him cheat the infinitely rich Herbert Lom in Hong Kong and in a fictitious Arab state.
Joel and Ethan Coen have updated it to Texas and Britain with Colin Firth (in hornrim Caine-type spectacles) engaging Texas rodeo star Cameron Diaz to help shake down rich British bully and art collector Alan Rickman with a bogus Monet. The Coens hang on to the original Gambit's one clever idea, which comes early on and was used better in 1966.
Otherwise, they, director Hoffman and the film's producers have decided to make a pastiche of a 1960s swinging London movie with all the familiar features, including the single word title once obligatory for smart comedy-thrillers (eg, Charade, Arabesque, Kaleidoscope), the cute animated credits in the Pink Panther manner,...

End of Watch (15)
(David Ayer, 2012, Us) Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick. 109 mins.
If there was anything left to do with buddy cop movies then this does it, adding a raw authenticity and almost Tarantino-esque banter to the proceedings. We're on patrol with an Lapd duo whose partnership verges on the homoerotic, and whose sense of duty knows no bounds – a big mistake when they come up against a Mexican cartel. It's exciting, fluent and heavy on the shaky-cam, but ultimately paints a simplistic world of heroic lawmen and caricatured bad guys.
Silver Linings Playbook (15)
(David O Russell, 2012, Us) Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro. 122 mins.
Against-type casting and unbalanced characters do much to disguise the conventional bones of this satisfying romantic drama.

Like I said last week, Twilight : Breaking Dawn Part 2 was bound to have such a massive opening box office weekend that it would soar above Skyfall and finally knock Bond back into second place. Wait, no, don’t go and check back, just trust me, that’s definitely what I said. Honestly.
With £15.85 million taken in its opening three days, the latest Twilight has the highest opening gross of any film in the franchise thus far. Bond experienced his sharpest drop off yet, down 47% on its third week takings, but even with the expected gradual decline in the coming weeks, it still looks set to overtake Avatar’s record box-office haul of £94million given that in just four weeks it has already managed to bank a cool £82million.

While it doesn't have a U.S. release date just yet, the Coen Brothers penned, Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth starring comedy "Gambit" is already kicking up its heels overseas. A remake of the 1966 Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine film, while on paper it sounds promising, the end result is a bit more disappointing (read our review here), but judge for yourself with four clips from the movie below. The story follows a thief (Firth) who plans to steal a statue from one of the wealthiest men in the world (Alan Rickman -- who also happens to be his boss) and enlists the help of a woman (Diaz) who is a dead ringer for the man's late wife to help him with job. But the thief's accomplice begins falling for the mark, and things get considerably more complicated. These four clips play up the rootin' tootin' big accent, ten gallon hat comedy,...

With a script from the Coen Brothers and a cast fronted by Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman, Gambit’s screwball heritage should make for a decent comedy.
The film, out today in UK cinemas, is Michael Hoffman’s remake of Ronald Neame’s 1966 film and our friend James Kleinmann sat down with the film’s leads to talk about the film. Firth and Diaz both have a decent comedy background, with some of their more memorable moments coming from their comedy roles.
Gambit sees an elaborate con played out against Firth’s boss, played by Alan Rickman, and Diaz’s character (the wonderfully named Pj Puznowski) muscles in on the deal and merry hell ensues.
Our review of the film can be found here and an interview with the film’s director will be up on the site later today.

Of all the genres to try and pull off, the romantic caper flick -- think "To Catch A Thief," or "Charade," or even "Ocean's Eleven" -- is one of the trickiest. For such a film to work out, it's got to be as light as a feather and feel entirely effortless, and all too many films aiming to hit that sweet spot end up feel entirely effort-ful. But if anyone feels like they might be suited to that sort of thing, it would be the Coen Brothers, who penned the script for the remake of a minor classic of the genre, the 1966 Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine film "Gambit." Have they pulled off? Well, while it's not quite fair to make the comparison, given that the film's directed by Michael Hoffman ("Soapdish," "The Last Station") rather than Joel or Ethan, but let's just say that the 2012 edition of "Gambit" makes "Intolerable Cruelty...

The first screenplay by Ethan and Joel Coen that they haven’t directed in almost three decades – since they co-wrote Crimewave with Sam Raimi and let him helm it – Gambit puts paid to the notion that only the Coen Brothers can direct a Coen Brothers script. Still, that’s not to excuse the pair for what is evidently a lukewarm remake of the 1966 Michael Caine-starring con caper, doing its charming cast a huge disservice, entirely a consequence of a script that reads like a first draft, alongside a director who doesn’t seem to know what to do with it.
Colin Firth plays a foppish British art curator named Harry Deane, who decides to exact revenge on his churlish boss, Lord Lionel Shabandar (Alan Rickman), by tricking him into buying a fake Monet painting, with the help of an effervescent if slightly unpredictable Texan rodeo Queen,...

Last night Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Cameron Diaz took to the red carpet for the UK premiere of their latest film, Gambit.
With Gambit, featuring a script by The Coen Brothers, Michael Hoffman continues his eclectic directing career with this story of a man looking to take revenge on an abusive boss with the help of the wild, unpredictable (and wonderfully named) Pj Puznowski.
With elements of farce and unexpected romance this film, a remake of the 1966 film with Michael Caine and Shirley Maclaine, has a fine cast and last night our guys Ben Mortimer and Colin Hart spoke to the stars of the film as well as the director and producer.

Cameron Diaz has revealed she provoked great envy from her female friends when she signed up to star alongside Colin Firth in new film 'Gambit'.

London - Even with a script by the Coen brothers, and a classy international cast led by Colin Firth, this contemporary London caper movie falls far short of its potential even as a lightweight comic romp. Director Michael Hoffman, most recently seen behind the camera on the somber 2009 Oscar contender The Last Station, was perhaps the wrong choice to remake Ronald Neame’s zippy 1966 comedy thriller, which starred Michael Caine, Shirley Maclaine and Herbert Lom. Gambit has just premiered in London before opening nationwide in the UK and Ireland later this month. The starry cast and Coens connection will undoubtedly attract

We love crime movies. We may go on and on about Scorsese’s ability to incorporate Italian neo-realism techniques into Mean Streets (1973), the place of John Huston’s The Asphalt Jungle (1950) in the canon of postwar noir, The Godfather (1972) as a socio-cultural commentary on the distortion of the ideals of the American dream blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda…but that ain’t it.
We love crime movies because we love watching a guy who doesn’t have to behave, who doesn’t have to – nor care to – put a choker on his id and can let his darkest, most visceral impulses run wild. Some smart-mouth gopher tells hood Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci), “Go fuck yourself,” in Scorsese’s Goodfellas (1990), and does Tommy roll with it? Does he spit back, “Fuck me? Nah, fuck you!” Does he go home and tell his mother?
Nope.

More Gambit updates folks! Right after those character posters with Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, here comes one fresh look at the leading trio. This one will teach you that a hot blonde is always enough to keep two men and one lion calm. Especially when that hot blonde is Cameron Diaz!
Michael Hoffman is in charge for the movie which is based on the 1966 British comedy where Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine played the leads. Only this time, with Joel and Ethan Coen behind the script, the story sounds so much more interesting.

We're not sure of current exchange rate, but we'll guess that half a million British pounds is worth about a trillion in dollars.
What do you get when you mix a nebbish-y British art curator, a Texas rodeo queen, and a plot to steal half a million pounds from an eccentric millionaire? The plot for Gambit, CBS Films' remake of the 1966 movie of the same name that originally starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. Instead, it's Academy Award–winner Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz who plot to steal money from a rich art collector (Alan Rickman), who, at least in the trailer, prefers a more clothing optional approach to work. The first trailer shows Firth and Diaz plotting their scheme to sell a phoney Monet painting utilizing a unique group of characters played by Cloris Leachman and Stanley Tucci. Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the script, and it has plenty of that Coenesque charm.
