Several Lady Gaga songs have received comparisons to Madonna hits. Things went a step further when one of Gaga’s producers admitted a Mother Monster track sounded like Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach,” saying that this was an accident. Regardless, the producer was still impressed with Gaga’s songwriting.

Mark Ronson is a producer most known for working on the song “Uptown Funk!” with Bruno Mars. During a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, he recalled seeing Gaga live and wanting to work with her. “I was like, ‘Ok, I think I can see how this could work,” he said. “We’re into the same s***.'”

Cyndi Lauper recalled hearing the Lady Gaga album that changed everything. She also saw some parallels between herself and the “Poker Face” singer. In addition, Lauper was asked what she thought about inspiring Gaga and some of her contemporaries.
Cyndi Lauper said Lady Gaga brought an entire genre back into the fold
During a 2022 interview with Pitchfork, Lauper cited Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, as one of her inspirations. “I really liked the energy of this album,” she explained. “It was young. It was dance. It was different.”
The Fame includes many of Gaga’s biggest hits, including “Just Dance,” “Poker Face, “Paparazzi,” and “LoveGame.” Through The Fame, Gaga established herself as the new Madonna, a pop music giant with a knack for great hooks, scandalous outfits, and over-the-top music videos. Perhaps the greatest legacy of The Fame is that it made dance-pop the preeminent for of popular music for the next few years.

Lady Gaga’s 2008 breakthrough “The Fame” was one of the most successful debut albums in recent history, not only a hot seller, but a critically praised record at that. Its impact could be measured in a million ways, but on its 15th anniversary the album’s Grammy success comes to mind.
SEEGrammys flashback: What happened to these artists After they won Album of the Year?
“The Fame” wasn’t an overnight sensation, it was a slow riser. Debuting at number-17 initially, the album was helped by word-of-mouth and its lead single “Just Dance” being a budding hit (number-27 that week). In December, when the Grammy nominations for 2009 came out, “Just Dance” was nominated in the category now called Best Dance/Electronic Recording, a major feat for Gaga, whose album wouldn’t even be eligible until the next Grammys cycle.

Greyson Chance is poking fun at his negative experience with Ellen DeGeneres.
In a new TikTok video, the 26-year-old “shut up” singer says a lot about the television personality – without actually saying anything at all.
Keep reading to find out more…
Greyson stitched a creator, Dasilva, who commented, “Y’all remember the days where going viral got you on Ellen?”
In response to that observation, Greyson set his phone down on a table, stepped back, and took a long, deep breath. As he breathed out, he slowly sunk under the table with a small smirk.
Greyson was 12 when he went viral for performing a cover of Lady Gaga‘s “Paparazzi.” He then appeared on Ellen and they developed a personal and professional relationship.
It’s no secret that the singer isn’t a huge fan of the former talk show host. In a 2022 interview, he called her “manipulative,” “self-centered,” and “blatantly opportunistic.

If you’re a fan of Mel Gibson’s classic action flicks, be sure to stream them before they leave Max at the end of August.
All four “Lethal Weapon” movies and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” starring the late, great Tina Turner, will be leaving the streaming service. Luckily, you’ll have all month to watch them.
Watching the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” animated movie in theaters? Max has several films featuring the radical reptilians: the live-action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze” (1991)
and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III” (1993), as well as the animated “Tmnt” (2007).
Kaiju fans will want to check out “Godzilla” (2014), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “King Kong” (1933) and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (2012).
Finally, if horror is your thing, six “Hellraiser” films and “The Ring Two” make great summer scares.

After seven episodes into “And Just Like That” season 2, fans finally witnessed Aidan Shaw’s (John Corbett) anticipated return to the “Sex and the City” franchise.
Now that Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) beloved ex is back in the mix, fans are wondering what storyline will ensue given that Aidan “was Carrie’s best boyfriend” in the original series, said “Ajlt” writer, Samantha Irby, on the the show’s official “And Just Like That… The Writers Room” podcast. “He is the one who should have won… He and Carrie had such an insane chemistry, it was like jumping off the screen. They just looked so good and perfect.”
With that said, and the time that’s passed between them, the writers and showrunner, Michael Patrick King, decided to give Corbett “a makeover” to bring Aidan back in “a new way.”

Et Canada chatted to Zazie Beetz to promote “Black Mirror” season 6, so obviously we had to ask about her also starring in “Joker: Folie à Deux” alongside the likes of Lady Gaga.
Beetz was talking to Morgan Hoffman when the host mentioned the actress was playing a member of the paparazzi in the latest season of “Black Mirror”.
Talk then turned to Lady Gaga’s hit “Paparazzi”, but Beetz — who stars as Sophie Dumond alongside Gaga’s Harley Quinn — couldn’t divulge too much about starring alongside her in the upcoming “Joker” sequel.

Director Jacques Rozier, who was regarded as the last surviving member of the French New Wave, has died. He was 96.
French media reported that a close acquaintance of the filmmaker had confirmed his death on June 2 in his native city of Paris, after a short spell in hospital.
Rozier never achieved the renown of Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Agnès Varda, Jacques Demy, Claude Chabrol or Eric Rohmer, but his work had its place in the French New Wave and pushed boundaries in ways that laid a path for filmmakers today.
After studying at the early French cinema school Idhec, Rozier cut his directing teeth as a TV assistant, while making his own shorts including Rentrée des Classes (1956) and Blue Jeans (1958).
The latter work played at a short film festival in the city of Tours, where it caught the attention of then-film critic Godard, who highlighted it as one of the...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 13 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 10 on Fox.
Pentatonix is pretty easy to recognize, as perhaps the best-known a cappella group performing today. So from the start, it was pretty easy to tell it was them on “The Masked Singer” – and indeed, the five-person group was unmasked as California Roll on Thursday’s show, which also doubled as the Season 9 semifinals.
For their first song, “Paparazzi,” group member Scott Hoying said they tried to avoid doing any harmonies at first, “so we could hide the iconic Pentatonix harmony sound for at least a minute. For the first minute, I was trying to really change my voice. But it didn’t work, because every comment on every video was like, ‘I knew from the beginning it was Pentatonix and I was confirmed as soon as they all came in.

It took till season 9 of “The Masked Singer” but we’ve finally got a costume that features five performers: the California Roll. They took to the stage on March 1 to deliver a soaring cover of the hit “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga. After Polar Bear lost the audience vote and was revealed to be rapper Grandmaster Flash, California Roll was pitted in a Battle Royale with Medusa.
Each put their own spin on the classic tune “Uptown Girl” by Billie Joel. Medusa delivered a traditional take on the tune while California Roll turned it into a haunting ballad. Lately, there’s been a curious strain of kneejerk revulsion expressed toward musical biopics such as “Elvis” for repeating tropes identified in “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” as if all popular genres don’t have repeated tropes. What’s funny is that there’s never really been the same reaction toward music documentaries in the 40 years since “This Is Spinal Tap.” Especially since that’s a much better movie. But why should there be? Just like pop and rock music depend on repetition (and the anticipation of repetition) for satisfaction and emotional release, music films, narrative or documentary, return to the same hallmarks over and over again.

A curious thing is happening online: Out of seemingly nowhere, Lady Gaga’s 2009 VMA performance of “Paparazzi” is a trending sound on TikTok. If you watched it live 13 years ago, it always stuck with you. It was one of the most shocking and sensational star-making performances of any pop artist’s career.

The next episode of our series, 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot,' arrives tomorrow. It's focused on Alexander Skarsgård's Hollywood breakthrough. Specifically, we're looking at his first True Blood episode in 2008 and the following year's Lady Gaga music video Paparazzi. Here's Cláudio's entry.
Prince Amleth of Hrafnsey is far from the first Northman in Alexander Skarsgård's resume. From 2008 to 2014, the Swedish actor played another heir to a 10th-century Viking King in the HBO hit series True Blood. But of course, Eric Northman has long left his motherland when we meet him in the show's fourth episode, "Escape from Dragon House." Deep in the Louisiana backwoods, the former prince turned vampire has found himself playing the part of Sheriff in the region's undead community. Instead of an ancient castle, his domain's a seedy nightclub that goes by the name Fangtasia. Oh, how the mighty have fallen, from noble northern warrior to lowly vice peddler…...

Ah, how much it can hurt to be really, really, really ridiculously good-looking.
“Zoolander” alum Alexander Skarsgård told The Sunday Times that it took years to be taken seriously as an actor due to his movie-star looks.
“I don’t really know if that was the reason I wasn’t getting roles,” the “Big Little Lies” star said. “Starting out in Sweden, there was stuff about being tall and blond. But most people here are tall and blond.”
Skarsgård continued, “Still, after my first job, I was on a stupid ‘sexy hunky hot list’ and then people didn’t take me seriously. If you want characters with depth but have been labeled ‘a dude who takes his shirt off,’ you’re not going to get those offers.”
Skarsgård has been named Sweden’s Sexiest Man Alive five times…and counting. And heavy wore that crown: “I was questioning...

Have the judges on E!'s The Funny Dance Show ever been this impressed? This preview clip for Wednesday's brand-new episode of the dance competition show provides a glimpse of Esther Povitsky's performance to Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi," which all three judges end up loving. In the beginning, it appears that Povitsky is being photographed on a red carpet like any normal famous person would be. However, after a couple of twirls, it's revealed that unbeknownst to her, her dress is tucked into her underwear. That is the reason she's being swarmed by paparazzi, not because she's actually famous. The routine has a happy ending, though. When Povitsky...

Long gone are the days of Greyson Chance being just that kid who went viral for singing Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" on Ellen. Now you can find 21-year-old Greyson singing songs of his own - about love and boys and all the other sh*t we go through in life. The singer just dropped his latest single, "Boots," about what it means to be a true cowboy in modern society - something he knows very well, being raised in Oklahoma. We chatted with Greyson during a pit stop of his current tour for his album Portraits to find out the inspiration behind "Boots," what it's like to be an openly gay musician who happily sings about boys, and what kind of music he has coming next.

Exactly 10 years ago, Lady Gaga delivered one of the most memorable MTV Video Music Award performances of all time. The pop star was just 23, and had previously released her debut album, The Fame, which spawned runaway hits like "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." The public was already intrigued by her catchy, unusual music and even more unusual style, but the performance - her first ever at a major award show - would offer a chance to prove her (now indisputable) talent within a live setting.
Her big moment was also preceded by five famous words: "I'mma let you finish, but . . ."
It's true: the 2009 VMAs stage saw both Gaga declaring herself as one of the boldest auteurs of her time as well as the inception of Kanye West and Taylor Swift's high-profile feud, which - despite momentary truces - still rages on. And though Kanye's unexpected interruption undoubtedly became the headline for the award show,...

Alexander Skarsgård made a splash two years ago for his harrowing performance as Perry Wright on the HBO limited series Big Little Lies. But before that role, he was already well-known in two fandoms: the True Blood hive, and Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters.

Drifting through the sensory overload of Park MGM’s casino, Lady Gaga is everywhere. Flashing video screens welcome her to Las Vegas for the beginning of her two-year residency at the Park Theater; a cocktail bar blasts “Hair Body Face,” a deep cut from the soundtrack for her Oscar buzz film A Star Is Born; the casino itself plays songs like Joanne’s “Dancin in Circles” and “Telephone” as thousands of fans wind around the craps tables and slot machines in sequins, fur and Gaga merch from past incarnations of the pop diva.

A Star Is Born, the latest remake of William A. Wellman's 1937 film, as well as Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, stars Cooper as Jackson Maine, a rockstar hanging to life by a thread simultaneously led closer to rock bottom by alcoholism and drug addiction. One rough night in drunken stupor, Jackson stumbles into a drag bar and watches as Ally (Lady Gaga) performs an exuberant cover of Édith Piaf's "La vie en rose." Her heavily-made up face, veiled in red spotlight, distorts her unwanted features and overshadows a modest life as a restaurant server. Dusk approaches as the pair leaves together, ending up in a secluded parking lot. Seclusion causes the masks to come off, and at once the pair realize that they—singer-songwriters of preternatural talent, capable of conjuring hit records from thin air—are perfect for each other.Their fates are thus locked together and sealed:...

“I used to walk down the street like I was a fucking star,” Lady Gaga told Rolling Stone for her first cover story in 2009. She was talking about her state of mind before her big breakthrough the year prior, but by the time she spoke to Rs, Gaga didn’t need to pretend. She had become a bona fide megastar and an heir to the pop throne, just like the Madonnas, Janets and Britneys before her. And it was all thanks to the self-fulfilling prophecy of her debut album, boldly titled The Fame.

The Video Vanguard Award has existed for as long as the MTV Video Music Awards have been around. At the first VMAs ceremony in 1984, David Bowie, Richard Lester and the Beatles were honored for their early, pioneering work in the pre-MTV days of the art form. The rest of the Eighties saw various pop heavyweights get their due, including Madonna, David Byrne and Michael Jackson, whose name was attached to the award the year after his sister Janet won it in 1990.

If the MTV Video Music Awards have ever been about the awards themselves, that era is long past. The most unpredictable and frequently over-the-top awards show remains one of the last-standing watercooler TV events by delivering iconic moments year after year. Here are a few of the most legendary from the show’s nearly 35 year life.
Madonna performed her single “Like a Virgin” at the very first VMAs in 1984, donning a wedding dress for a performance that looks downright tame by modern standards but raised a few eyebrows in its day.
Looking to top her last performance when she returned to the VMAs stage in 1990, Madonna went for an elaborate 18th Century France-inspired aesthetic for her rendition of Video of the Year nominee “Vogue.”
Michael Jackson and then-wife Lisa Marie Presley shocked the audience when they locked lips for an awkwardly long and stilted kiss while introducing the 1994 VMAs.

Cameos have become one of the staples of modern ensemble movies. It’s not like they need them to succeed. They don’t even need them for plot. But, hey, if you can get Bill Murray to pop up as himself in the middle of Zombieland, why not? When done well, cameos can be as transcendent as David Bowie in Zoolander, John Hurt in Spaceballs, or Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. When executed poorly, well, at its best, it gets quickly forgotten. At its worst, it’s Bruce Willis in Ocean’s Twelve.

Matthew McConaughey steady but hard rise to acclaim could be documented in a movie. The once Paparazzi magnet and rom-com graduate began his ascension with .The Lincoln Lawyer. followed by .Bernie,. .Killer Joe,. and Steven Soderbergh.s .Magic Mike.. And this year alone, McConaughey wowed us in two important movies namely .Mud. and .Dallas Buyers Club.. Now, I love Chiwetel Ejiofor in .12 Years a Slave. but my heart belongs to McConaughey.s performance in .Dallas Buyers Club. as a redneck cowboy, and dare I say, straight man, who contacted HIV during the early years of the epidemic. The actor lost weight (an Oscar getter) and dove into the role without sentimentality but not sacrificing gravitas. He is simply amazing in the movie! By the way, the movie is not depressing but uplifting and funny!
I saw down with the actor to talk about:
*** What was his ultimate attraction to making .Dallas Buyers Club?...

Matthew McConaughey begins filming his movie "The Dallas Buyers Club" next week, and he's already fully committed to the part.
Paparazzi snapped pictures of McConaughey catching a flight from Los Angeles to New Orleans Friday. The actor was looking gaunt and fragile -- appropriate for the role or Ron Woodroof, an AIDS patient who experimented with unapproved treatments in 1980s Dallas.
How thin? Well, the picture at the left is from August, when he had already started losing weight for the role. He looks noticeably skinnier in the shots taken Friday (People has one), making one wonder if he's gone past the 30 pounds he was aiming to shed.
A source close to McConaughey tells People that he'll be able start putting weight back on in about a month.
"The Dallas Buyers Club" also stars Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto. It's scheduled for release sometime next year.
What do you think of McConaughey's dramatic weight loss?...
