It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

Everyone loves a good cinematic love story. But for those of us who aren’t living our happily ever afters with the loves of our lives, it can be hard to watch a swoon-worthy romance on Netflix without feeling a bit wistful and sad. That’s particularly true if you’re dealing with a case of the break-up blues.
Thankfully, no one is truly alone alone in front of a TV screen. As long as there have been romance films, there have been break-up films; movies that capture the pain and anguish of a relationship dying, leaving those involved picking up the pieces.

Exclusive: Vince Vaughn will return to star in (and likely produce) a sequel to his hit 2004 comedy, Dodgeball, scripted by Jordan VanDina (The Binge), which is in early development at 20th Century Studios, Deadline has learned.
While Rawson Marshall Thurber wrote and directed the original film for 20th Century Fox, it’s not yet clear whether he’ll be involved in the sequel, and who, if not Thurber, would direct. Equally uncertain is who will join Vaughn on screen, though there’s certainly a deep bench of talent to pull from in looking back to Dodgeball‘s stacked ensemble, which included Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Alan Tudyk, Joel David Moore, Chris Williams, Missi Pyle, Gary Cole, Jason Bateman and William Shatner, as well as the late Rip Torn.

Adam Sandler has just expanded his coterie of comedic filmmakers with Murder Mystery 2.
The new Netflix action comedy is a follow-up to the 2019 Kyle Newacheck-directed film, with this one counting Jeremy Garelick at the helm. Mark Strong, Mélanie Laurent and Jodie Turner-Smith also star in the sequel that debuted in the top spot on the streamer’s English-films list.

The Netflix movie sequel “Murder Mystery 2,” which premieres March 31st, is the highest-profile directing gig Jeremy Garelick has ever landed. But it’s really more like an extra-curricular activity for the veteran writer, producer and director.
Garelick is best known for “American High,” the teen-movie franchise he launched at Hulu after making the audacious move of spending $1 million to buy a building that once housed a high school in Syracuse, N.Y., in 2017. The purchase enabled him to make multiple films at a third of the cost.
But “Murder Mystery 2” is a bigger-budget affair with more exotic locations than Syracuse — Honolulu and Paris, to be exact. He got the directing assignment having earned the respect of the film’s stars including Jennifer Aniston, who also starred in “The Break Up,” a 2006 romantic comedy Garelick co-wrote. That film was his career breakthrough.

Gotta admit, but Josh Brolin’s big baddie Thanos does cast a big shadow in the older Marvel movies.
But now there’s Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, who debuted as the variant He Who Remains in Disney+’s Loki and surges in all testosterone in this weekend’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is set to debut to a franchise global record of 280M. The catalyst for all that? Why it’s all Kang.
The film’s director Peyton Reed tells us on Crew Call today how the whole Kang of it all came to be.
You can listen to our chat below:
Essentially the progression toward Kang in the MCU and Ant-Man began with the jumping off point of Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne and what she had been up to in the Quantum realm, that sector introduced in the previous 2018 installment Ant-Man and the Wasp.

At the beginning of James Gunn's "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) is approached by a band of space aliens who claim to have been practicing on a set of new-fangled Earth instruments they had recently been gifted. They also know, in a vague sense, that it's the time of year that Earthlings typically celebrate an oblique holiday called Christmas and they have decided to write a song in honor of it. The aliens, however, only have a vague idea of how Christmas operates and get a lot of the details incorrect. Their tune is called "I Don't Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime is Here)."
The credits reveal the alien band to be named Bzermikitokolok and the Knowheremen, with Bzermikitokolok played by Rhett Miller, Kortobookalia played by Murray Hammond, Sliyavastajoo played by Ken Bethea, and Phloko played by Philip Peeples. Fans of 1990s Texas-based...

Poor Jen.” That was the phrase that started to follow Jennifer Aniston around not long after her divorce from Brad Pitt. One minute the Friends star was half of a Hollywood golden couple and owner of the world’s most lusted-after haircut. The next, she was an on-the-shelf spinster whose husband had ditched her for his sexy co-star. Would she ever find happiness? Would she be outpaced by her own biological clock? A public fixation with who she was dating or if she would have kids felt like a coded way of wondering whether she would ever summon the ability to overcome the humiliation. But this week, Aniston trashed the narrative.
Rubbishing ongoing rumours of her being too “selfish” or “career-obsessed” to become a mother, she revealed to Allure that she’d tried to have a child for many years but was unsuccessful. Now, she has accepted that biological motherhood...

A teary-eyed Ellen DeGeneres bid farewell to her daytime audience of 19 seasons on the final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show by asking everyone to “be your true authentic self” and to show compassion to others so the world can become a better place.
After visiting with guests Jennifer Aniston, Billie Eilish and Pink, DeGeneres wrapped the final episode of her eponymous talk show, which taped in late April ahead of airing Thursday, with a heartfelt plea. “If someone is brave enough to tell you who they are, be brave enough to support them even if you don’t understand,” she said, choking up. “They are showing you who they are and that’s the biggest gift anybody can ever give you. By opening your heart and your mind, you are going to be that much more compassionate. Compassion is what makes the world a better place. ”

After 19 years in syndication, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” came to a close on Thursday with a look back, a victory lap and final guests including Jennifer Aniston, who also happened to be DeGeneres’ first all those years ago.
It was announced in May 2021 that the series would end this year, coinciding with the end of DeGeneres’ contract — as well as a change in DeGeneres’ reputation due to reports of pay reduction, racism and intimidation towards crew members, though the contract was set in 2019.
During the series finale, DeGeneres focused her opening monologue on how different the world is for LGBTQ+ people now than it was when the show began.
“20 years ago, when we were trying to sell the show, no one thought that this would work. Not because it was a different kind of show, but because I was different,” she said. “When we started this show, I couldn’t say ‘gay’ on the show.

Guilty pleasures, yes, cult status, definitely.
Even HBO Max has it listed as such.

April is about to be a good month for returning HBO and HBO Max properties.
HBO Max’s list of releases for April 2022 features three hotly anticipated seasons of television. The Flight Attendant, which helped launch HBO Max as a viable spot for good dramedy in 2020, premieres its second season on April 21. That will be followed by another go-around for the sci-fi comedy Made for Love on April 28. Of course, the big ticket item this month is something that HBO Max inherited from its cable cousin. Barry season 3 will continue the story of hitman-turned-actor Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) on April 24.
The TV offerings run much deeper than just returning shows this month. April 7 sees the arrival of Tokyo Vice, a sprawling crime drama with some episodes directed by Michael Mann. The series stars Ansel Elgort as an American journalist embedding himself in Tokyo’s criminal underground in the late ’90s.

Nearly 40 years after it first debuted, the holiday movie classic “A Christmas Story” is finally getting a sequel, with original star Peter Billingsley set to reprise his role and produce. Warner Bros. and Legendary are backing the production.
“A Christmas Story Christmas” will be directed by Clay Kaytis (“The Christmas Chronicles”) from a script by Nick Schenk. Vince Vaughn is also producing, under the Wild West Picture Show Productions banner he runs with Billingsley.
A box office failure when it first premiered in 1983, “A Christmas Story” has become one of the most beloved holiday movies in cinema history. Kate: It’s not meant to be.Alex: No. Don’t say that. Something must’ve happened.A decade and a half is not really long enough to commemorate a film’s anniversary—but then again, bogus nostalgia for the immediate past is the main engine of pop culture discourse today. It’s impossible to answer, of course, but consider these studio releases: Marie-Antoinette, Children of Men, Southland Tales, Clint Eastwood’s Iwo Jima diptych, Inside Man, Miami Vice, Idlewild, Crank, Idiocracy, The Holiday, The Black Dahlia. Millions were spent on bizarre highbrow and/or vanity projects like Michel Gondry’s The Science of Sleep, Soderbergh’s The Good German, Tommy Lee Jones’ (phenomenal) The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, or Ryan Murphy’s (excruciating) Running With Scissors. While the plot is being kept under wraps, the pic is expected to be in the spirit of such 1990s action pics Speed and Bad Boys. Chris Fedak wrote the original script. Bay, James Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer, Will Sherak and Ian Bryce are producing. Michael Kase and Mark Moran will executive produce. Deadline first reported about the Bay project with Gyllenhaal in talks.
Universal is distributing the movie with Endeavor Content packaging of the project.

A weirdly tame, let’s-all-get-wasted riff on “The Purge” from the team behind such solid youth-focused comedies as “Banana Split” and “Big Time Adolescence,” Hulu original “The Binge” imagines an alternate America where all drugs and alcohol are illegal, except during a 12-hour window each year, at which time anything goes. , treating intoxication as the punchline rather than the setup for what should have been a more subversive satire.
If only the country’s Puritan forefathers, or the teetotalers behind Prohibition, could see where their influence has steered us! Screenwriter Jordan VanDina (who’s also working on the “Animaniacs” reboot) has a few genuinely rowdy ideas up his sleeve — including an epic case of a driving under the influence and a shootout involving the world’s smallest crossbow — all of which is heightened by some reasonably inspired improvisation, especially from Mvp Vince Vaughn as a wildly inappropriate high school principal.

Sneak Peek "Friends" actress Jennifer Aniston posing for "Interview" magazine, wearing boots by Celine, a pencil skirt from Givenchy and a whole lot more:
"I've gone for each type," said Aniston.

"I always say don't make plans, make options.
"In a man, I look for a friend, someone who's equal, with whom I'm comfortable.
"I love that feeling of being in love, the effect of having butterflies when you wake up in the morning. That is special."
Aniston's most critically acclaimed and commercially successful films are "Office Space" (1999), "The Good Girl" (2002), "Bruce Almighty" (2003), "Friends with Money" (2006), "The Break-Up" (2006), "Marley & Me" (2008), "Just Go with It" (2011), "Horrible Bosses" (2011), "We're the Millers" (2013) and "Dumplin'" (2018).
