One of those "There's a couple of hours I'll never get back". I sat through it because I saw such positive reviews, so kept waiting for it to get better, but nope. The only reason this didn't get 1 star is that I love Maine & enjoyed the (too rare) scenic backgrounds. It's inexplicable that this drab, predictable & mostly nonsensical movie is so highly rated; Rotten Tomatos even gave it the nearly unheard-of critic's rating of 100%, which is just nuts. The acting is vaguely awkward & stiff, plus boring, the plot is run-of-the-mill "bad drug dealer rules small poor town", so overdone (like Roadhouse, Cop Land, etc.), and just silly. And if you're going to do a movie abt a fishing town in Maine, maybe have the characters be people you can ¹actually care abt, & ²at least *attempt* to sound like they're really FROM Maine, NOT NYers & CAlis 🙄. The storyline is annoyingly erratic, full of holes & utterly implausible. And the ending is the kind where you cry out "Wait, what, are you *kidding* me? THIS is the end of the movie?!!". I guess he's supposed to be an "antihero", but to me he's just dully pointless... like the movie.
