DC’s Stargirl is ready to shine on assorted screens, more than two decades after the young superhero made her DC Comics debut.
Geoff Johns, the veteran comic books scribe and screenwriter who recently served as DC Entertainment’s Cco for a stretch, created Stargirl aka Courtney Whitmore back in 1999, inspired by his late sister, who had died in the Twa Flight 800 explosion. With the character’s most prominent live-action incarnation, Johns’ vision takes on new meaning, in a series that is light, lively and abundant with star-spangled, family-friendly thrills.

The force is strong between these two.
On Wednesday, Pennsylvania man Charles Wilson-Adams threw a very special party to celebrate his pooch’s first birthday, going all out to make sure his best pal Deuce had everything a dog could ever want.
Wilson-Adams — whose sister is a writer/reporter at People — bought Deuce a “Happy Birthday” banner, plates, napkins and a cake, all Star Wars-themed.
Deuce, an American Bully and Wilson-Adams’ service dog, even got a lightsaber-embroidered sweatshirt to wear when guests arrived.

How do you change the way people picture pit bulls? With pictures!
That’s what pet photographer Adam Goldberg is doing. Since August 2016, Goldberg has been snapping photos of adoptable pit bulls looking goofy, sweet, playful and kind, a.k.a. all things that pit bulls really are.
Unfortunately, many people have unfounded negative opinions about pit bulls: that the breed is dangerous, violent and mean. Some of these stereotypes are from unfair media representations and the inclusion of pit bulls in dog fighting rings.

Given the packed schedule of movies in December/January, it.s not surprising that distributors unloaded a bunch of short-run films last weekend, including One Chance, Carrie, Magic Magic and Austenland.
Unsurprisingly, the dominant title was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which dropped by 46% in its second weekend, raking in $6.75 million, bringing its total to a lucrative $22.7 million.
The only other title to gross more than $1 million was Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, which rustled up $1.1 million in its third frame (off 36%), propelling its total to a juicy $7.85 million.
One Chance tells the true story of Paul Potts, the shy, bullied shop assistant and amateur opera singer who won Britain's Got Talent. Directed by The Devil Wears Prada.s David Frankel, the movie musical bombed in the UK but the Australian opening was a bit more respectable at $706,000, released on a very wide 263 screens.

I guess that’s why we’re being subjected to so many remakes & reboots instead of new stuff. Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw II, III, IV) version of the 1980 Kaufman’s classic stars everyone’s favorite psycho chick with mom issues from the 90’s Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) as, you guessed it, the psycho mother to three fugitives who come back home to the family home to hide out. Problem is, it’s no longer their house and the new occupants are in for a night of pure torture and terror. The film also stars Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine, Fanboys, The Tripper, Sin City), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Briana Evigan (Sorority Row, Step Up 2), Alexa Vega (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, Hatchet II, The Ruins), Matt O’Leary (Sorority Row, American Bully, Live Free or Die Hard, Frailty), Lyriq Bent (Saw II,...
