American Idol was announced to be coming to an end after 15 seasons yesterday (May 12), but did you know that Ryan Seacrest used to have a co-host?
Brian Dunkleman hosted the Fox competition's first season alongside Ryan Seacrest, before the latter took sole control. History has not been kind to poor old Brian since, with Fox TV CEO Dana Walden joking about a possible reunion for the pair.
"Where is Brian Dunkleman? If you give me his number, I will call and invite him," she joked, though Dunkleman gave as good as he got last night:
I knew American Idol would never last without me #Cancelled
— brian dunkleman (@briandunkleman) May 11, 2015
To honour Dunkleman, we have collected a few hosts of massive shows that you may have cruelly forgotten, starting with the man himself.

A short film depicts the sometimes solitary hell of solving. Alan Connor talks to writer/director Steve Simmons
Steve Simmons has made a seven-minute film that puts the contents of a solver's brain on the screen, as played out by Keith Hill of ITV sitcom FM and Amanda Renberg of The Ketchup Effect.

I talked to Simmons about placing crosswords on to that other two-dimensional medium, film.
Did you write the clues yourself? Were you tempted to have more intricate clues, or to show the completed grid?
I wrote about half the clues but got the rest of my inspiration from scouring crossword sites on the web. Some of the initial clues were much more cryptic but I wanted to avoid the viewer lingering too much once a clue was solved. I made them a bit more obvious at times.

Dannii Minogue has spoken out in support of X Factor finalist Nicolo Festa, saying that people will grow to love him.
The Australian judge chose the Italian singer for the final twelve, despite some concerns she had about his personality. During judges houses she told him:
“You’re the only one, when I’m going through the pros and cons, they are both the same. The pro is you’re a diva, you’re fierce and you work it…the con is you’re a diva, you’re fierce and you work it!”
Speaking to Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott on Heart 106.2 FM, Dannii admitted that people may have disliked Nicolo during the audition stages, but she seems confident that he will change our opinion of him on the live shows.
‘He’s the guy that you’re going to be talking about’, she said.

Dannii Minogue has admitted that she is concerned for X Factor finalist Matt Cardle.
The Australian star was seen choosing Matt for her final three acts on Sunday night and the former painter and decorator has become a firm favourite to win the series.
However Minogue feels that these sort of expectations, may work against the sexy singer.
Speaking to Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott on Heart 106.2 FM, Dannii admitted:
‘I think he’s a favourite. He has such a good voice. I guess the worry is when you come in with a really, really strong audition, can you maintain it? It kind of happened to Danyl last year.’
On why she chose Matt for the live shows, she added:
‘I love that falsetto in Matt’s voice… if we can push it into a new realm it would be great.’
Will you be voting for Matt this Saturday? Leave your comments below!

What can I say about Gang Starr? Guru — who passed away Monday — and DJ Premier were one of the most important groups in hip-hop. Along with all of their classic albums — No More Mr. Nice Guy, Moment of Truth, the list goes on — came a slew of major, quintessential hip-hop songs: "Take It Personal," "Step in the Arena," "Words I Manifest," "Ex Girl to the Next Girl," "Mass Appeal" ... all great records.
I first met Guru in the mid 1990s, when he and DJ Primo would visit me and my partner, DJ King Tech, at our "Wake Up Show" on San Francisco's Kmel-FM. Gang Starr even headlined a couple of our concerts, so we always had a great rapport over the years. On their record "Royalty," Guru mentioned me and Tech,...
