We have another round of Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors here, with (possible) updates on the X-Men reboot, Disney+'s Wonder Man series, the still not officially-announced Scarlet Witch solo movie, and more.
We'll start with an update on a rumor that did the rounds last week after the Atlanta Filming Instagram page shared a photo of Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong with the caption "why would a sorcerer be in Cap 4?"
As you might expect, this morphed into a rumor that Wong was set to make an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, but it seems the 3 Body Problem actor was simply in town filming a different project while the MCU movie was undergoing reshoots.
"Yes, he is in town," the photographer clarified in a new post. "People have seen him walking around midtown. But, whether or not he sorcery-ing or not you will have to wait to find out.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has undoubtedly noticed a slump in quality post Avengers: Endgame. Most new heroes introduced to replace the Og ones did not work well among fans. While heroes like Shang-Chi and Moon Knight shone, She-Hulk was highly criticized by fans worldwide.
According to new reports, She-Hulk may return to the MCU in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World. As if the film was already into enough complications with its several reshoots, this report has disappointed the fans on a different level.

Several reasons made the Disney+ She-Hulk series a total cringe-fest with bizarre VFX all around. Although the critics were not so harsh with it, the fans declared it to be meta garbage. After such a poor reception, the fans were surprised to see her return so soon in a new MCU project.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading towards Secret Wars, a crossover that is sure to bring in a slew of characters from all over the Marvel Multiverse into the film. While little is confirmed about the film, rumors have been circulating that the film might bring in veteran and new actors into the MCU to reprise their roles from Marvel movies past, whether they were a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not.
Kang the Conqueror was plotted to be the big bad in the upcoming Avengers 5 and Secret Wars
While the Avengers will face Kang (as far as we know) in Avengers: Secret Wars, what comes after is completely up for speculation. However, there are certain indications in the current phases that could point towards what is coming post-Secret Wars, and it could set up one of Marvel’s bloodiest storylines to date, pitting the Avengers against former allies,...

It’s been five years since Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger was canceled by Freeform after two seasons, and the rumors of a series revival have started to gain momentum again. There was not much news on the series after it was scrapped, but an insider has provided an insight as to the fate of the show.
Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph in Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger / Marvel Television
Cloak & Dagger was well-received by fans after the first installment aired in 2018, but the sequel proved to be a hit-and-miss as viewership dropped tremendously. While this is not entirely the reason why it was never renewed, ratings play a big part in a franchise’s life.
The Latest Update On Rumored Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger Renewal
In a Discord Marvel Studios Q&a with Alex Perez via Cosmic Circus, the industry insider revealed news regarding the revival of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.

The solo MCU release of 2024 Deadpool & Wolverine will bring Hugh Jackman’s mutant to Kevin Feige’s universe. Since Fox was acquired by Disney, Marvel fans ardently waited for Wolverine to step into the MCU and be a part of the greater universe.
While the fans expect a grand event like Hulk vs Wolverine in a future project like Avengers: Secret Wars, the MCU may also try numerous other cool stuff with the character. Marvel Comics shows that if the character is pitched against Captain America, we may get a bloodier event than Deadpool 3.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was released in 2021 to mostly positive reviews, and while the Flag Smashers were a forgettable addition to the MCU, we were left with plenty of other big talking points.
Sam Wilson became Captain America, Bucky finally moved on from his past, U.S. Agent made his presence felt, and Sharon Carter was established as a deadly new villain.
Mackie first played The Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He later returned in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, so how did he feel about returning to television?
"Television is really hard. My first episode of television was Law & Order," Mackie told actor Tyler James Williams about the challenges of his transition in an interview with Variety. "It was the hardest seven days of my career. TV is real, TV is a different beast,...

After some not-so-great MCU projects, it’s time to get back on track and gear up for ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ ‘Doctor Strange 3’ was supposed to kickstart this journey but things seem uncertain now, especially after Cumberbatch’s recent comments.
Recent statements from Alex Perez during his Discord Ask Me Anything session bring some disappointing news for Doctor Strange fans. According to him, setting up the story of Doctor Strange and Clea properly will require more than just a couple of appearances in other projects.
What I’ve heard about Stephen Strange’s story leading into Secret Wars requires a minimum of a third Doctor Strange movie for it to be explored properly, or at the very least three Avengers films. Anything less, and I’m afraid that both Stephen and Clea’s characters might fall short of fans’ expectations.

The Hulk has always been a downgraded version of his comic book character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead of the ferocious and formidable character that we often see in the comics, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is more of a parody of the green Goliath as per several Marvel fans.

However, that might be changing soon as per insider reports about the upcoming Harrison Ford movie, Captain America: Brave New World. Featuring Ford as Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross, the film might help restore Hulk’s legacy that Marvel fans have been demanding for a long, long time.

Following a disappointing few projects so far for the MCU, It’s time to turn this around and slowly start building toward ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ One massive project that was supposed to be a direct prelude to these multiversal events was ‘Doctor Strange 3.’
Following Cumberbatch’s latest statements fans aren’t quite sure that the movie will come to fruition before the next two ‘Avengers’ movies.
Now the recent claims by Alex Perez during his Discord Ama have a few disappointing updates for fans of Doctor Strange. Per his claims to set up his and Clea’s story properly it’s going to take a lot more than a few appearances in other projects:

Benedict Cumberbatch plays Stephen Strange a.k.a Doctor Strange in the MCU. One of the leading figures of the Avengers, Strange, has made multiple appearances, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The character was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Though Strange is an important character, his future in the MCU has been unclear. However, a recent update sees him taking a backseat to make way for Benedict Wong’s Wong to act as a recruiter. According to a new rumor, Wong, the current Sorcerer Supreme, will be recruiting new Avengers for the film Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America: Brave New World reshoots are currently taking place in Atlanta and it appears another major Marvel character has been added to the movie.
Based on a recent Instagram post from paparazzi Atlanta Filming (who has taken hundreds of the shots we've featured here over the years), it appears Benedict Wong will return as the McU's Sorcerer Supreme, Wong.
This might feel like a strange move, but it makes sense on several levels. For starters, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revealed that Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel seem to regularly meet to discuss threats to Earth-616, so why wouldn't he touch base with the new Captain America?
Then, there's the fact Abomination is now training in Kamar-Taj; he was created by The Leader and could have valuable intel about the villain...heck, he may even show up to help Sam Wilson deal with Red Hulk.

Every year, rumors resurface about the development of the ‘World War Hulk’ movie. These speculations have persisted for years with no apparent resolution. Recently, Ruffalo confirmed that the studio never intended to give him a solo movie, largely due to complex rights issues stemming from a decade-long struggle with Universal.
In his Discord Ama, Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez revealed that the studio is gradually laying the groundwork for the ‘World War Hulk’ storyline, albeit in a manner that diverges from fan expectations. This approach seems logical, especially if Hulk cannot have a standalone project; the narrative would need to encompass multiple characters and various projects.

There continues to be a great deal of excitement surrounding Giancarlo Esposito's role in Captain America: Brave New World. While The Mandalorian star has been spotted on set in Atlanta for reshoots, we're still no closer to knowing who he'll play.

A new set video has found its way online today and despite not offering any additional clues, we see Esposito wielding a gun and seemingly on the hunt. The trades have confirmed he's a villain, so we're guessing Sam Wilson is on his hit list.

Within minutes of the actors strike ending on Nov. 9, Ryan Reynolds was making plans to get back to London and the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the many movies shut down in mid-July when the walkout commenced. He and director Shawn Levy were determined to make their July 26 release date, which they were able to accomplish. For other tentpoles, it was too late, and they would ultimately decamp to 2025.
One studio head says the impact of the writers’ walkout, which lasted five months until a settlement was reached on Sept. 27, also played a major role. “Think of it like this — if the actors’ strike shut down the oil refinery, then the writers’ strike shut down the oil fields.”

Avengers, re-assemble!
Variety has reported that Shawn Levy, reliable director of “Night at the Museum,” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” is “in the mix” to helm the next “Avengers” superhero team-up for Marvel. In late July, his promised-to-be-potty-mouthed R-rated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit theaters and, clearly, Marvel’s leader, Kevin Feige, liked what he saw.
Marvel is in desperate need of a course correction after some wobbly entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “The Marvels,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There was once a time when the Marvel opening logo was enough to print money and create cultural resonance, but those days have begun to wane, due in part to a glut of Disney+ streaming shows and the fact that “Avengers: Endgame” really did seem like a nice place to end the story. For a while now, the status of Marvel’s next Avengers movie has been in flux. Back in July 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the Multiverse Saga would offer up two major hero team-up movies: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the wake of underperforming Phase 4 movies, and Jonathan Majors being dropped as Kang after an assault conviction, the plan changed – The Kang Dynasty is no more, Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing to focus on Shang-Chi 2 instead, and little has moved since then.
Until now. Because, according to Deadline, Marvel is eyeing up Shawn Levy as the man to next assemble the Avengers on screen. One of the most surprising things about Captain America: Brave New World is the fact Sam Wilson will have to match wits with The Leader.
We first met Samuel Sterns in 2008's The Incredible Hulk and learned Bruce Banner's apparent ally had some questionable beliefs when it came to science. We first met Samuel Sterns in 2008's The Incredible Hulk and learned Bruce Banner's apparent ally had some questionable beliefs when it came to science. As additional photography continues on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World in Atlanta, some more photos from the set have been shared online.
These black and while shots give us another look at Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) suited-up as Captain America, Rosa Salazar as Serpent Society member Diamondback, and Giancarlo Esposito as... we're still not sure!
Fans have been speculating about the identity of The Boys and The Mandalorian actor's mysterious character ever since we found out that he'd joined the MCU, and despite getting a pretty decent look at Esposito in-costume, we're still non the wiser.
All we know for sure is that he is playing a villain, and based on his array of weapons, we'd say he is more than likely a non-super-powered mercenary of some kind. This does narrow things down, but not by much!

Way back in 2019, Avengers: Endgame handed over the mantle of Captain America to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Two years later, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier made the point canon and established the hero firmly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which canonically was flaring up in tensions owing to the sudden re-emergence of the population that vanished and returned leading to mass displacement and worldwide chaos.

Ever since The Mandalorian and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that he'd been cast in a mystery MCU role, speculation has run wild about who he might be playing.
The actor confirmed he'd debut in a movie before showing up in a Disney+ TV series and set photos have since revealed his big screen project as Captain America: Brave New World. Esposito was enlisted for reshoots and a first look at his unnamed character showed him in tactical gear wielding several knives and what appears to be an axe.
Typically, a set photo like that would make it clear who an actor is playing; as things stand, we're no closer to knowing for sure who the Breaking Bad alum has been cast as. Or are we?
A new rumour is floating around online (we think it's more of a theory than anything) which suggests Esposito is playing Moon Knight villain Bushman.

With reshoots ongoing on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a ton of new set photos have been surfacing online over the past few days and the latest batch reveals star Anthony Mackie ("Sam Wilson/Captain America") suited up in his classic white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, essentially reaffirming that he'll be sporting multiple looks in the eagerly-awaited Marvel blockbuster.
As per a recent report, the additional photography isn't expected to be particularly extensive, and should conclude within another week or two. New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.
He'll also wear a wingless blue-and-red suit in the film, something not too dissimilar from Steve Rogers' stealth suit, but it's not yet clear what...

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Following his debut as Helmut Zemo in the 2017 film Captain America: Civil War, Daniel Brühl reprised his role in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier alongside Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie. Zemo, who played a pivotal role in pitting the Avengers against each other, was anticipated to reappear in Thunderbolts*, where he is a key figure in the comics, even serving as the team’s leader.

Who is Giancarlo Esposito? Okay, we know who Giancarlo Esposito is. He’s best known as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad and Moff Gideon from The Mandalorian. Meanwhile to some of us old people, he will forever be Buggin’ Out from Do the Right Thing.
But who is he in the MCU? Esposito has long been rumored to join the gargantuan franchise, something made more real when the actor shared to social media some of his recent talks with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. However, we now have more information… sort of.

Harrison Ford, who made headlines in 1977 for his portrayal of the likable smuggler Han Solo in George Lucas’ blockbuster space opera Star Wars, is recognized for having brought to life a number of iconic genre figures. His appearances in movies such as Blade Runner, Witness, and the Indiana Jones film series have helped him become popular among both seasoned and novice viewers.
Ford selects roles that resonate with his genuine interests, ensuring that any potential sequel bearing his mark not only promises a continuation of a story but also the promise of a character. For example, his return to the neo-noir universe as Rick Deckard in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 (2017) was no accident; it was the result of a script that spoke to him, a narrative that provided a familiar setting for the fan-favorite character.

As Captain America: Brave New World undergoes more reshoots, actor Giancarlo Esposito has reportedly joined the cast.
Once set for a July release before being subjected to a lengthy delay, Captain America: Brave New World is currently undergoing a round of reshoots. In the meantime, it’s being reported that Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has belatedly joined the cast.
Those reshoots are ongoing in Atlanta, Georgia, and will reportedly last for 22 days. Principal photography on the Captain America sequel wrapped over two years ago in spring 2023, but early test screenings prompted Marvel to push its release date back in order for new sequences to be shot.
There have been reports that several major scenes originally filmed have since been edited out, and that the reshoots have been ordered to beef up the action sequences which “were not big or satisfying enough” according to Daniel Richtman's sources.

As the latest round of reshoots on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World (formerly known as New World Order) continue, this latest photo from the set is sure to raise a few questions!
Shared by Atlanta Filming, the image features strange creatures hanging by their tails. Though there's been some speculation that these might be the Soul Eaters from Chang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, they look a lot more like Orloni to us.
These small, rodent-like animals were introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and seem to be a very popular snack in certain cosmic corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We have no clue why these little critters would be a part of this particular movie, so there's always a chance they simply resemble Orloni. Another theory is that these are some sort of Gamma-mutants created by Doctor Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader.

Marvel has not been doing well in recent years. Their last film, “The Marvels,” was destroyed at the box office, and early test screenings of “Captain America 4” were reportedly not good. After the poor reception, rumors swirled about reshoots. Now, it seems that reshoots are coming, and they are also adding Giancarlo Esposito to the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Esposito appears on the reshoots call sheet. We don’t know much about the character he is playing, but we do know that he’s playing a villain. We also know that the reshoots will last 22 days and include some action sequences.

Following yesterday's first glimpse of Giancarlo Esposito in-costume on the set of Captain America: Brave New World, we have a new photo giving us a look at Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel) as Rachel Leighton, aka Diamondback.
A previous rumor claimed that the supervillain group known as the Serpent Society had actually been completely cut from the movie during reshoots. This may have been accurate at the time, but this latest round of additional photography has revealed that at least one member of the team will still feature.
As you can see, Salazar is now sporting the character's signature hot pink hair after previously appearing with blonde locks in a photo shared online last year.

The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has finally been spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World in full costume. As you'll see in the X post below, his character is packing some serious weaponry!
With three knives on his chest and a large gun (axe?) holstered on his left-hand side, this mystery bad guy looks mighty formidable. Chances are he'll take aim at the McU's new Captain America, but just who the heck is he?
Truthfully, we don't know!
While set photos like this would typically let the cat out of the bag, nothing here identifies Esposito as a specific Marvel character. The actor has said he'll appear in a TV series after this big screen debut, so his playing an assassin - potentially hired by Mayor Wilson Fisk - in Daredevil: Born Again, for example, makes sense.

Despite some quantity-over-quality issues during the Multiverse Saga, the MCU continues to draw massive interest from moviegoers and comic book fans. That goes some way in explaining why we get so many rumours about its future and we're back today with another roundup.
We start with information shared by Jeff Sneider. He chimes in on some recent rumblings about the MCU, including that latest report about Captain America: Brave New World needing only 22 days of reshoots (read more about that here).
Sneider believes more additional photography is planned for later in 2024 and notes, "From what I’ve heard, it's going to take a lot more than 22 days to fix everything that’s wrong with this movie."
Another supposedly troubled MCU project is Blade. First announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, the reboot has been through multiple writers and directors and, as we write this, still seems no closer to happening.

Reshoots Notwithstanding, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Will Be Much Cheaper Than ‘The Marvels’
We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ faced many delays. The movie was supposed to come out this year, but early test screenings got very negative feedback. This led to major reshoots, delaying the release by nearly a year. It is now set to come out on February 15, 2025.
The test audiences were reportedly unhappy with the action in the movie, saying it wasn’t as good as in previous Captain America movies. The romance between Anthony Mackie and the female co-lead was uninteresting, and the political themes were boring rather than exciting and engaging.
The movie is now undergoing reshoots in Atlanta, expected to last around 22 days. Matthew Orton was hired to write the script for the reshoots, and some big names have joined the cast, including Giancarlo Esposito in an unknown villain role.
Interestingly, even with extensive reshoots, the movie won’t cost as much as ‘The Marvels...

We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was stuck in a development hell for quite some time. The movie was supposed to be released this year but after early test screenings proved to have overwhelmingly negative feedback, the flick was scheduled for a massive round of reshoots.
This delayed it for close to a year, now it’s set to be released on February 15, 2025.
The test audiences were reportedly unhappy with the action in the movie, considering it subpar when compared to previous Captain America movies. The romance between Anthony Mackie and the female co-lead was flat at best and the political themes of the film weren’t divisive and exciting but boring.
Now the movie is currently undergoing a round of reshoots in Atlanta, and it’s expected that the process will last around 22 days. Matthew Orton was hired to pen the script for the reshoots and some...

Weeks after Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito teased that he’d be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe “sooner than you think,” Variety can confirm that he will appear in “Captain America: Brave New World,” which hits theaters next year.
Esposito revealed he’d been cast in a Marvel project during a panel at Ccxp in Brazil earlier this month. There he squashed fan speculation that he’d play Professor X in the widely expected Marvel Cinematic Universe version of “X-Men.”
“There’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X,” Esposito told the crowd. “Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”
Esposito’s role in “Brave New World” is being kept under wraps (though it has been described as villainous). The Marvel...

Like many 2024 movies, Captain America: Brave New World was caught up in last year's WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. Much has been made of plans for reshoots and thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we finally have an idea of what's really happening.
Despite claims that huge chunks of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up are being reshot over several months, the trade confirms this additional photography will last only 22 days.
The plan is to add new action sequences and Julius Onah will remain in the director's chair.
When the strikes ended last November, Captain America: Brave New World moved from July 26, 2024 to February 14, 2025. That reportedly gave Marvel Studios executives additional time to figure out what they wanted from reshoots and to address feedback from test screenings.
As we've previously reported, Moon Knight scribe Matthew Orton was enlisted to write new pages in December and worked on those over the winter.
"Despite...

For anyone worried about the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this latest news probably isn't going to do much to quell your fears.
The Hollywoood Reporter has news that "Captain America: Brave New World," which will mark the big screen debut of Anthony Mackie as the Sam Wilson version of the star-spangled superhero, will be undergoing 22 days of reshoots. Along with adding new action sequences to the movie, whatever scenes are being reshot will also be bringing a new cast member into the mix.
Giancarlo Esposito, best known for playing the vicious Gus Fring on "Breaking Bad" and Moff Gideon on the "Star Wars" TV series "The Mandalorian," has been cast in what the trade is calling an "undisclosed role," but apparently it will be a villainous role. Since Esposito was not part of the movie's original cast during principal photography, that means that this character is being added...

Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Brave New World” in a villain role as reshoots are underway in Atlanta, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
Esposito had recently hinted in fan press at being involved with a Marvel Studios project, which will apparently spin-off his character into an upcoming Disney+ show.
“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict,” Esposito said. “It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
The reshoots are scheduled to last 22 days, which will add some new action sequences to the superhero pic. Previously, Marvel brought on writer Matthew Orton back in December to write new material.
