Ever since his breakout role in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel as Superman/Clark Kent, Henry Cavill has established himself as the “King of the Nerds.” Even though his run as The Last Son of Krypton didn’t end on a high note, his popularity with fans remains ever so high.

Cavill is a role model for his fans for a lot of reasons. His gentlemanly and shy guy attitude has won over hearts at interviews and award shows, and his looks and physique make even the toughest of men question their manliness. And Cavill has put in a lot of hard work to maintain that personality.

The Avenue has landed North American rights to the action comedy “Old Guy,” starring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu and Cooper Hoffman.
Simon West directed the film, while “The Last Son” scribe Greg Johnson penned the script.
The film follows aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best at what he does. Stuck at a dead end but vying for the love of club manager Anata (Liu), Danny is thrilled when The Company pulls him back in the field — but it’s only to train Gen Z newcomer Wihlborg (Hoffman), a prodigy assassin with an attitude. The mismatched pair is asked to eliminate top members of a competing crime syndicate and, in the process, uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. However, The Company didn’t anticipate that Danny’s experience, coupled with Wihlbord’s brilliance, could enable them...

Exclusive: Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man And The Wasp) and Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) are set to star in the sci-fi thriller Rachel, which Highland Film Group is launching for next week’s EFM.
The film will follow new mother Rachel (John-Kamen) who seemingly has the perfect life except she doesn’t recall the recent birth of her baby boy or even being pregnant. Her cookie-cutter husband Stephen (Rossi) deflects her probing questions as strange neighbors begin stalking her. Flooded with memories of an 11-year-old girl who seemed to be her daughter, the film will chart how Rachel’s perfectly constructed world begins to tear apart.
Pic is being directed by Jenn Wexler, who made her directorial debut with the SXSW horror film The Ranger and is completing post production on The Sacrifice Game starring Mena Massoud and Olivia Scott Welch, and is written by playwright Vincent Delaney.
Producers are Jib Polhemus and Volition Media’s Michael Jefferson (Land of Bad). The film is executive-produced by Adam Beasley and Cindy Bru of Volition Media.
Highland is representing worldwide rights with production slated to start this spring in Minnesota.
Rising actress John-Kamen is known for Ready Player One, Netflix mini-series The Stranger, Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City, and most notably for her role as the villainous Ghost in Marvel’s Ant-Man And The Wasp. She will reprise her role in the upcoming film Thunderbolts.
Theo Rossi most recently starred opposite Aubrey Plaza in Sundance title Emily The Criminal, which garnered him a Best Supporting Performance at the Indie Spirits. He is best known for Marvel’s Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy and Army of the Dead. He will next be seen opposite Jason Bateman, Taron Egerton and Sofia Carson in the Jaume Collet-Serra directed thriller Carry On for Netflix and Amblin.
“We are delighted to be working with such talented actors as Hannah John-Kamen and Theo Rossi on this chilling sci-fi story. They will cleverly showcase the seemingly perfect relationship between Rachel and her husband which quickly devolves into a chase to uncover the strange new world around them,” said Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser.
“Rachel is a smart, intense and nerve-wracking thriller full of twists and turns. We are proud to have another wonderful opportunity to empower women both in front of and behind the camera,” added Highland COO Delphine Perrier.
John-Kamen is repped by Luber/Rocklin and Paradigm; Rossi is repped by Paradigm, Entertainment 360 and Schreck Rose Dapello; Wexler is reppped by CAA, Hitman Studios, and attorney Chris Abramson.

Old Guy: Christoph Waltz to star in a contract killer action-comedy from Con Air director Simon West
Remember to consider people who are older than you are. Some can be dangerous, whether behind the wheel or holding a loaded gun. Such is the case with a new film called Old Guy, starring Christopher Waltz as an aging contract killer. The project, soon heading to the EFM market in Berlin, hails from Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider director Simon West. Greg Johnson (The Last Son) is writing the script, and it sounds like a doozy.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Old Guy finds Waltz playing Terry Eubanks, a senior contract killer who thinks he’s still the best in the business. Nearing the end of his tenure, Terry is overjoyed to learn The Company is willing to put him back in the field, but with a catch. He’s contracted to train a Gen Z newcomer named Wihlborg, a prodigy assassin with a chip on his shoulder.

Gabe Polsky’s new acid Western “Butcher’s Crossing,” premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, takes place on the vast fertile plains of hubris, where if you stare far enough into the horizon, you can probably see your own uppance come.
Based on a novel by John Williams takes place in Kansas in 1874, where a young wide-eyed student named Will Andrews has abandoned his Ivy League education in favor of seeing the country and palling around with buffalo hunters. It’s a decision that old man McDonald, a fur trader and distant friend of the family, thinks is intensely ill-advised, so he warns him — in a tone so condescending it was practically guaranteed to have the opposite of its intended effect — that following this path will lead Will to soul-obliterating ruin.
Undeterred, Will proceeds to ally himself with the first semi-friendly person he meets, a hunter named Miller (Nicolas Cage), who...

Colson Baker – Aka Mgk – is injured and on the run from the gang he stole from, when he gets on a bus and endangers his fellow passengers
Colson Baker is a promising actor who continues to evolve away from his better-known personas: a white rapper with a silly name (he alternates between Machine Gun Kelly and sometimes just Mgk), actor Megan Fox’s arm candy, and sometime-Jackass satellite. Here Baker takes a starring role as a low-level LA hoodlum called Freddy who has stolen a bag of cash and cocaine from now very angry associates, a Puerto Rican gang led by sociopath Vic.

Here Baker takes a starring role as a low-level LA hoodlum called Freddy who has stolen a bag of cash and cocaine from now very angry associates, a Puerto Rican gang led by sociopath Vic.

From a cramped hotel suite in a luxury Cannes hotel, a pair of film executives are trying to pull off an unlikely feat: Sell distribution rights to Kevin Spacey’s comeback film. On May 17, Vantage Media International, or Vmi, a Hollywood-based company that sells movies primarily to foreign markets, screened a finished print of the noir drama Peter Five Eight to would-be buyers willing to take a gamble on the two-time Oscar winner’s first leading role since his career came to a grinding halt in 2017 amid accusations of sexual misconduct.

That Colson Baker can act is no revelation. The rap-rocker, better known to his legions of fans as Machine Gun Kelly, has already held his own in a dozen or so roles for film and TV, demonstrating a scuzzy on-screen charisma within admittedly limited boundaries. His canny casting as Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in the Netflix biopic “The Dirt” paid off, so it’s not surprising to see him return to the rockstar-as-rockstar well in the significantly artsier “Taurus.” This time, however, he makes a rather more personal investment — not just starring, but serving as executive producer, composer and script consultant — in a project modeled on, if not his own life, certainly his own celebrity aura and sound.
The good news is that he can still act, serving director Tim Sutton’s unpleasant but smokily atmospheric descent into Hollywood Hades with solemn commitment and a lurching air of physical...

“Taurus” is the semi-autobiographical tale of a rap-slash-rock star on the tail-end of a self-destructive kick. Set to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival Feb. 13, the film stars Colson Baker (better known to fans as real-life rap-slash-rock star Machine Gun Kelly) as Cole, a Kurt Cobain-esque musician struggling with fatherhood, the music industry, substance abuse and his ex-wife (played by Megan Fox).
Tim Sutton, who wrote and directed the film, conceived of the idea after directing “The Last Son,” in which Baker plays a 19th century bank robber. “I went over to [Sutton’s on-set] living quarters and we were smoking a joint,” Baker recalled. “And he was like, ‘If you ever do a documentary on yourself, or make a movie, you have to let me make it.’” Baker agreed and a few weeks later Sutton sent over a script.

For sanitary safety reasons, the small picturesque town of Sorrento, overlooking the bay of Naples, will become the main hub where guests, most of whom this year will be flying from Europe for the Dec. 26-Jan. 2 shindig, will congregate.
Expected international attendees include directors Michael Radford and Terry Gilliam, who are fest regulars, coming from the U.K. Also from the Blighty, actor Sadie Frost making the trek to promote British director Kirsty Bell’s Covid-19 debut feature lockdown drama “A Bird Flew In,” having its international premiere. Bell will be receiving the fest’s European Breakout Director of the Year award.

A brooding Western in search of a jolt of energy, Tim Sutton’s “The Last Son” is a morose slog through the American West, as Sam Worthington’s Issac Lemay hunts down his kin in an effort to stave off an Ingenious prophecy that he will be killed by one of them. Apparently not understanding the difference between prophecy and prediction — a difference that a Native woman, ironically enough, has to spell out for him — he roams through towns, hunting down every child that he fathered, which, given his propensity for prostitutes, is a surprising amount.

Switching gears from contemporary drama to what Variety once dubbed “oaters,” Tim Sutton’s “The Last Son” finds fresh life in a well-worn genre: Its striking visuals are accompanied by an oddly appropriate score led by droning, heavily distorted guitars; its occasional narration is winsome in a way that Westerns do best; and its evocation of an endlessly mythologized era feels authentic. But then Sutton goes and overplays his hand, the effects of which aren’t as disastrous as being caught cheating in a poker saloon, but they do leave you wondering what might have been.
“The Last Son” opens with lyrical narration and airy background music courtesy of Phil Mossman that brings to mind “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” though the comparisons mostly end there: Sutton’s movie isn’t elegiac so much as brutal. The voiceover returns to add mood and context from time to time,...

Castle Falls marks Dolph Lundgren’s first film as a director since he shot Icarus in 2010. It’s also his fifth teaming with co-star Scott Adkins. Toss in a plot that sounds slightly reminiscent of Walter Hill’s underrated 1992 film Trespass and you have a film with a lot of potential. The question is, can it live up to them?
Mike Wade is down on his luck. His career as a fighter is over, he can’t even make the cut for a local Mma event and he’s been evicted from his apartment. Now he’s living in his truck and working as a labourer on the demolition of Castle Heights Hospital. And then his luck turns around, he finds several bags full of money hidden in the abandoned building.

"You'd be surprised what people can do..." Redbox has unveiled an official trailer for the indie film The Last Son, a western thriller from filmmaker Tim Sutton who is known for his low key indie films previously - Memphis, Dark Knight, Donnybrook, Funny Face. In this one, an outlaw attempts to end his evil family line. Sam Worthington stars as Isaac LeMay, a murderous outlaw cursed by a terrible prophecy, hunting down his offspring to prevent his own death before targeting his son. Shot entirely on location in Montana, "The Last Son truly portrays the brutality that was the West in the 19th century." The cast includes Thomas Jane, Colson Baker (aka "Machine Gun Kelly"), Heather Graham, Kim DeLonghi, Scotty Bohnen, Danny Bohnen, and James Landry Hébert. It actually looks a bit better than expected, more cinematic than Sutton's last features. A violent western with a grizzled Worthington ready to take on everyone alone.

In addition, Redbox entered into a licensing for films and TV shows from Lionsgate’s 17,000-title library for Redbox‘s ad-supported AVOD and free ad-supported television (Fast) services.
Recently released Redbox Entertainment films include “Capone” starring Tom Hardy, “Shadow in the Cloud” starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Nick Robinson, and “Sas: Red Notice” starring Sam Heughan and Ruby Rose.
